I don't see why you'd have a problem with people who 'fully dig themselves into the whole thing', though. It's just the ones who try to push it onto everyone else that are annoying, just about everyone thinks so - It goes for anything really, furries, homosexuals, fandoms, etc.
Why have a problem with something that doesn't really affect you?
Well to be fair I'm "fully into it" too. I have a fursuit, my boyfriend and friends are furries, I host furry events, draw furry art, attend conventions, and even have my fursona tattooed on me..
But even someone like me that likes it so much can be within the lines of "normal". I think it's the ones that put themselves out there with an unpopular opinion that get the hate. You have to be careful not to judge an individual on what they chose to do in their spare time, but rather how they conduct themselves is what you should be looking at. You don't hear about furs like me because we don't do anything "bad" or worth talking about.
Anyways gonna go back to lurking for a bit. Nice chatting with you all tonight, hope I provided some decent insight with my long winded posts!
Not really a problem, trolls are present in every community. I just tend to hate stuff I cant understand and the furry community Im familiar with is Deviantart and LMAO Pics, I just looked up a few things on Google and noticed a lot of similarities. The things I stated weren't supposed to be insulting hence the "dont hate them, pity them" .
That some furries just create their fursona as part of their art is something new to me since to me it wasn't art more like something a confused person would crudely draw up to identify with.
The hostile responses didnt help since thats exactly the behaviour I expected, the ones that actually want to give me insight on the whole subject also dont seem like the in your face furries aka the ones everyone hates.

Yes.
But the whole "Don't hate them, pity them." is pretty offensive as well, being a furry isn't necessarily bad, just different. I suppose some people don't handle "different" well, though.
But my point is that it's stupid to hate furries in general for the actions of a few obnixous attention-seeking retards, the vast majority are very nice people. Don't dismiss anyone just for being part of a certain group of people with certain interests.
Edit:
The hostile responses is more of a product of all the hate people tend to have for furries, it's a very easy trap to fall in to for a furry.
You probably missed it, but I'm bias too (furry).
but, you dont have a furry avatar. as soon as people see that they just think im blindly defending both ends of the fanbase.
but, you dont have a furry avatar. as soon as people see that they just think im blindly defending both ends of the fanbase.
Yeah, and that's stupid, but usually it's something you can overcome with the way you phrase things, or simply your timing (page with lots of people hating on furries = less likely you'll get a posetive response in my experience (long time lurker here))
Which was all my post were pointing to, but since I have fur art as an avatar I am immediately baised.
The fact you made your dog lick the cum off your dick probably doesn't help either.

My point is, people don't consider him biased and a stereotypical closet-zoophile furry just based on his avatar, but because he actually is a biased, stereotypical closet-zoophile furry.
I also really don't like codemaster and felt like everyone should keep in mind they are talking to a dude who tried to fuck his dog.

My stance on furries is the same stance I have on people from other forums or from other fandoms.
When I'm on 4chan, I act like a 4channer and enjoy the things 4chan has to offers. When I come to Facepunch I leave 4chan behind me, I act like a Facepuncher and I enjoy the things Facepunch has to offer rather than bringing the stuff I enjoy on 4chan here.
If I have a specific hobby or interest I find the proper subsections and threads at Facepunch where I can discuss these things with other people that share the same hobby or interest, but I don't often needlessly bring attention to these hobbies and interests in places they don't belong, and if these places where people discuss my interest or hobbies aren't common here I go to some other forum where they are.

Why are all furries literally filled with assburgers?

It's like a competition to add as many adjectives to your porn to make it unique.
It's like a competition to add as many adjectives to your porn to make it unique.
maybe. it's probably more because there are a few trigger words that just gross people out in a kind of milk bread eggs squick kind of way
It's like a competition to add as many adjectives to your porn to make it unique.
Gay furry vore gore scat bondage cookie porn?
Edit:
Can't rate myself dumb :(
People hate furries mainly because their sexual preferences engrosses them.
There I've said it.

But you're basically labeling yourself as a furry by doing so. It makes it possible to treat you differently because they can tell you're a furry, or it can be a frustrating reminder for people that are trying to avoid the furry community.
If you are a fan of something controversial, it's better to keep a low profile among people that might take offense to it, and instead to be open about it among other fans.
Think of the contents of your avatar as what you wear in real life. If you walk around in public with something normal not related to any obscure interest you're going to fit right in, if you walk around in public with something NSFW you're going to get in trouble with the law, if you walk around in public with something that creeps people out or dressed up as an animal people are going to think you're a freak unless you're at a costume party or a convention.

scrubbe thats nothing
real social outcasts "clop" to "pony porn"
People hate furries mainly because their sexual preferences engrosses them.

i can deal with the fursona stuff because everyone has the unquestionable right to be a special snowflake but the fursuit stuff is just retarded imo
even with the fursona stuff if you're going to be overly complex about your rainbow coloured sparkle herm dragon *reflection in the mirror* it just gets weirder and weirder
i can deal with the fursona stuff because everyone has the unquestionable right to be a special snowflake but the fursuit stuff is just retarded imo
I partly agree, but I don't see any reason to actively hate on people who are into fursuits. It's weird sure, but it has very little/no effect on you, so why would you care?
I just think it's weird there aren't any succesful/famous people that are furries. The only ones that exist are on the net and just like any fetish should be kept a secret or atleast not admitting it so openly. By our societys standards it's weird and not accepted whereas gays and the like have some scientific basis why they are the way they are.
Furries also have that but as soon as you point it out to them they get very angry and defensive as it is the case here. They always use the "you just dont understand" argument or resort to very cheap insults in the end.
The part where I compared furries to addicts or mental patients may sound harsh but it really isn't. I was just comparing stuff I found, not saying they ARE like that. The fact that you all(cept a few) got so insanely defensive and angry just further proves everything I said. Furries refuse to acknowledge that what they are doing isn't normal by todays standards. I am not an expert I just said it's weird how so many symptoms EXACTLY fit the stereotypical furries. Of course every weird community has 1 or 2 normal people but exceptions occur, thats pretty normal.
The general hostile responses to my posts just proved that they are all using it as either:
A Form to express themselves
To escape from something or
"Being different"
Symptoms for APD include:
Self-imposed social isolation
Hypersensitivity to rejection/criticism <-- Happening right now in this thread
Mistrust of others
Highly self-conscious
Feeling inferior to others
-and the one that fits the most-
Utilizes fantasy as a form of escapism and to interrupt painful thoughts
Again I don't say that Furries ARE crazy or a case for the shrink I am just pointing out what I found on the net while I was looking it up. If this offends you and you aren't able to discuss it in a normal and social manner you are just, as said before, further proving the point.
Feel free to point out whatever is wrong with this just remember to stick to the facts. I don't know shit, this is just what I puzzled together and it makes sense in my head, something I never got from asking Furries why the hell they are doing this.
I still don't see it that different from so many other hobbies, themes or other things that people use for their avatars - as long as it's not sexual ofc, it's stupid to judge people by their avatars/clothes anyways.
Because just because it's not sexual doesn't mean it can't offend people. I'm not offended by sexual stuff, but other people are. You're not offended by furries, but other people are. Some people like anime, some people hate it. Some people like ponies, some people hate it.
If there's a lot of people that hates one of your particular interests, it's better to have the image representing yourself be something else you like that doesn't anger a lot of people.
I partly agree, but I don't see any reason to actively hate on people who are into fursuits. It's weird sure, but it has very little/no effect on you, so why would you care?
Because you're only human. You can pretend to be whatever you like in your head and that's fine with me but actually dressing up like one is just too weird for me
I've got a friend that's a furry.
He sells artwork for a few grand a pop and has worked on recent blockbuster movies.
He's pretty chill all around.
