using 'nigger' to try validate the oppressive nature of 'bitch' is in no way a relevant or valid example whether you are trying to equate them or not
Oh no, we don't need to start his "the n word" thing again.

The tumblr concept of oppression is demeaning to humanity as a whole. I tend to avoid labeling because I see it as a totally unnecessary divide, and defining your political, social, personal, religious, or any other beliefs under the flag of a single word is never accurate because words cannot summarize the complexity of somebody's beliefs, and any exceptions that they might permit, or anything that they might disagree with or otherwise agree with. Not every catholic has the exact same beliefs. Not every feminist has the same beliefs. Not every so-called misogynist has the same beliefs. Not every MRA has the same beliefs. These terms, especially on tumblr, have reached an absolutely depressing level of pathetic. People now identify themselves with literally made-up words like demigod-sexual or panda-ethnic or trans-fungus or cis-doublebrain-kin. They divide themselves to an infinite degree in order to pursue some concept of uniqueness, and in doing so they intentionally split themselves off from any factor of humanity. No, they're not humans, they're actually dragons in their minds and that's okay because people are allowed to be gay so now I can be a Sonic the Hedgehog Dragon Squirrel with three animal personalities who is asexual except when it comes to other animal-human hybrid pornography, large trucks, and ferns. It's intentionally divisive for no purpose other than the pursuit of personal uniqueness. This quirk of psychology has taken over lots of internet feminism (since feminism and social justice warriors both reside heavily on tumblr). Many internet-feminists now follow this same path of intentional divisiveness. They perceive anyone outside of their social ingroup to be against their cause. It's an aggressive and pessimistic view of the world. Rather than recognizing that the word bitch has absolutely no goddamn meaning besides what they attribute to it, they find it reasonable to crucify whoever said it. It is not a word meant to insult someone's gender. It is a gender-specific insult. There's quite a difference. Calling someone a bitch is NOT saying "Hey, fuck you because you're a female." It's a word that is perceived as meaning "You're an asshole, and you're female, this is the appropriate word." It has absolutely no difference to words like dick, which is insulting to men for precisely the same reasoning. It's the same exact thing as him/her, he/she, man/woman, and any other words that differentiate gender. The primary purpose of these insults is to insult the person they're directed to, not to umbrella-insult their entire gender as Sanius Squad here assumes. Since people here tried to use nigger as a (very poor) example... Why do you shame the slut marches and whatnot? They're trying to own the word. The same thing happened to the word nigger. Nigga is now "owned" by black people, per se. It's a word that they took over the meaning of. The slut parades are doing the exact same thing, and yet the type of feminism that appears on this forum and the internet in particular criticizes them so heavily. Sorry, but that's conservative. You seek out every opportunity to get insulted. You try to make words that have existed for centuries have even MORE insulting messages. The internet feminist movement is addicted to insult. They want the attention so badly that the uphold age-old sexist traditions in order to get it. It's pathetic. I can't stand this type of conservative feminism. I tend to preach acceptance and tolerance, but when you bring absolutely nothing good to the table I can't help but criticize. Progressive feminism wants women to own their bodies and actually take a damn stand against their "oppressors" and be able to stand entirely as an independent person. That is feminism. It is progressive. Conservative feminism, yes, -conservative-, like the Sanius Squad tries to advocate, promotes the active repressing of sexuality and sex, views sex as a taboo topic, and seeks to find insult wherever possible. They try to transform the word bitch from a simplistic, barbaric insult to one that umbrellas an entire gender, attack any and all opposing viewpoints, purposefully make yourself believe that you are the only side that can ever feel any insult because you have marginally less advantage over your opposition, and seek insult and offense at every single point in order to further divide themselves, and then wonder why people get upset at them. When you yell at your opposition for being misogynistic neckbeards and make completely unfounded assumptions about their life, and proceed to insult them and lambast them for using a single word, the only thing you are doing is promoting sexism against women. You're literally making people hate feminists and de-legitimizing the feminist movement. You're taking a bonesaw to your own femur in a crowded mall, spitting and screaming at anyone that comes near, and then yelling at people to support you as your leg falls from your transfat, transethnic, demisexual dragonkin body. It's actually hilarious to watch.
can someone exactly explain why a 9 year old needs a massive budget to code a game? is the kickstarter raising funds for college or something? [editline]26th March 2013[/editline] im not against her, i just think this should really be pulled from kickstarter, as this clearly violates the most recent rules which indicate that functional prototype is needed
In all honesty, it doesn't help to use a derogatory term directed at females for a project that seeks to advocate females in the tech industry. While it's blatant that the scammers have little respect for the medium, the usage reinforces the false point that they use in order to obtain money from people.
Nigga is now "owned" by black people, per se. It's a word that they took over the meaning of.
try to get the history of the word out of a black person, they'll tell you it means brother and some other crap like that, it really is just a dutch slang which translated over into english, for the people along the coast of nigeria, as that was where they loaded the slaves up in the triangle trade, basically ignoring the actual historic significance of the word which in of itself is not an offensive word, unless you find people from nigeria or niger to be truely horible worthless piles of dirt, then i guess it would be.... still why did this lady not do the right thing and close the kickstarter the instant it went over $1000, i mean the girl can't even legally handle that money, and im actually kinda concerned that her mother is binding her daughter to do something like this, because by going to kickstarter, your taking people's money in return for the promise that it will be used to provide a finished product
kickstarter projects like this, the ones seeking attention and getting money for it, should not be given attention. I try to stay neutral when it comes to things like this, but I honestly think anyone who backed this wasted their money big time. I don't even know if these people have anything to show but a logo and dozens of tweets.
Why the hell is everyone complaining about the usage of neckbeard? It was only used once in the entire thread. Feel free to post those quotes from them, I'm personally seeing a veil of exacerbation and misinterpretation. It shouldn't be too hard if it's a major issue like you described, right?
Having had experience in a couple other threads with the same exact people, the title "misogynistic neckbeard" is as common an insult as "bitch." Really, these people can hardly be considered feminists. It's why I try not to label even though it's inevitable in a discussion like this. They are not activists fighting for women's rights, they're activists fighting for recognition of how offensive things can be against women exclusively, when almost everybody already recognizes that. They just push it to it's absolute limit, insinuating that bitch is an irrevocable insult to half of the world's population every time it's uttered. I campaign for equal rights. It's an insult to everybody that women are not paid or treated equally. These people make a mockery of it by making the public appearance of feminism be one of vanity and obsession with semantics and insults rather than issues that matter. They focus on issues that they themselves have created, such as the existence of oppression as the most important issue of our time when in reality it's hardly existent or noticeable in day-to-day life. They extrapolate its existence in the same way that conspiracy theorists and illuminati people extrapolate the existence of their ideas - women are not equal, therefore they're being ACTIVELY worked against and oppressed. That's false, blatantly false. And it's upsetting to me that this social movement has taken such strong hold, because it's divisive and serves no purpose whatsoever. It invents issues and then attacks them and makes a ton of noise in the process. Knowing several actual feminists (male and female) that campaign for shit in the real world, these people's ideas are absolutely delusional and against the very idea of feminism and equality.
I know people donate to kickstarters out of their own free will, but if that kids parents are really loaded that's just wrong. Seems like they just didn't want to pay for it themselves. Edit: That and it's not like by doing the kick starter the kid actually earned the money herself, it just someone else giving it to her other than parents
I actually feel worst for this woman's two sons. Imagine, you're giving your kid sister a hard time because she says she wants to do some impossible thing and you, being the douchey older sibling every teenager is at some point, say she can't. So your mom goes and raises boatloads of money for your kid sister while publicly demonizing you by making it look like you're some kind of monster trying to crush a kid's dreams.
-snip-
A lot of people use labels to find others with the same interests and such. The point of a self-label is that it's a very brief summary. The problem, of course, is that it's very brief, so you end up smashing a whole ton of them together. But that's almost irrelevant except when people try to cross them over. For example, I don't give a fuck if you're an atheist when you're looking for somebody to play TF2 with. I don't care if you're demisexual or whatever if you made some politics thing. I couldn't care less if you're a liberal if you're drawing some art, whether it be shitty or amazing. Labels are useful. If I want to find somebody to play X with, all I care about is that they play X. "X player" is a decent label. Hell, I'm asexual myself, and sometimes it's nice to just talk to other asexuals. Labels themselves aren't the problem, and using them isn't the problem either. Even overuse isn't really bad. The real problem is attention-seeking, plain and simple. Alright, fine, you're a reincarnated something. That's been a belief of various peoples for thousands of years (totem animals, for example). Demisexual is a bit... I don't know considering that orientations are based on a sliding scale and saying you're in the middle is like saying "hey, I'm average!", but whatever. The problem is when that person throws out that label so they can claim pity points, when they purposely seek out reasons to be offended, and when they generally just seek attention. Somebody can be trans-whatever, but I honestly don't give a shit, and they can post about their lives all they want. When they post about their lives suffering from "fat prejudice", that's when I get annoyed and feel like clobbering them with a dieting cookbook, but I can still move on with my life. When they go and accuse other people about flaunting their "thin privilege", that's when I get pissed off. They can go ahead and whine about how they're being "persecuted", usually as a middle-class white American, but they really should not expect people to give them pity because of it. That's just asking for a slap upside the head. They completely detract from actual problems in the world just so they can feel better about themselves. Also they might be seeking out a group to parasitically attach themselves to. I see no reason to seek out and target communities/groups of X-kin or Y-sexual or trans-Z. That's just being an asshole. The usual situation is that they're being represented by a vocal minority of morons and attention-seekers (the few exceptions are based around things that actually get you killed like the "pro-ana" and "thin privilege"-based people). Most of them just want to be left alone and talk to each other in a place where they don't have to deal with the morons trying to be within their own group or the trolls outside. Also, http://www.reddit.com/r/TumblrInAction for more SJW horror. Yes, it's Reddit, but it's not quite as horrible as standard Reddit. Just try to avoid the comments, as usual. [/rant] To be more on topic, this woman is obviously abusing feminism for her own personal gain. If this project is removed by KS, she'll probably try to spin that negative PR into support for her own women-only KS clone (fundher.org I think). She clearly has the liquid cash necessary to pay for the camp, as $829 is a relatively small amount to a millionaire. Not something she would have on hand, but definitely available to her. That is not what KS is for. It doesn't have to be exclusively for poor people, but it does need to be exclusive to people that do not have or cannot currently invest the necessary money.
Also, I hate to join into this giant argument, not being able to call people a derogatory term just because it identifies a specific gender is a sign that rights are just being tacked onto one gender despite the long fight for equality that the gender has fought for. The world isn't some kind of "My ancestors were forced to do blah-blah more than yours, so obviously if I tell you to do something you don't have the right to say no." This is probably an unpopular opinion to most people on reddit or wherever, but your rights do actually end where mine begin. I can call you anything I want and there is no problem with it, and vice-versa. If we give you extra rights and privileges than others, then the whole situation will quickly reverse and we'll be the group fighting against the "privileged arrogant masses". Badly written, unplanned and thought-out, but please do try to concentrate on the message and not go ad-hominem on exactly how I shouldn't have put a comma there or something. That argues around the point and debates are not ground warfare where you can flank the enemy.
If people want to burn away money, they should just give it to charity or something. They shouldn't give it to buzzword bandwagon projects that really don't need it. This kind of nonsense is what will eventually kill what is otherwise a brilliant 'power to the people' kind of tool. Kickstarter will end up being overrun by cleverly marketed commercial campaigns looking for free money. The little guys that actually need the money, for whom kickstarter was originally designed, will get pushed out of the market, simply because people are retards and have no idea about the value of money and the influence (and power) you have as a consumer.
If this Kickstarter violates the rules, then obviously that's objectively wrong and it should be ended. If it's acceptable to Kickstarter, then I don't see the problem. People are giving to show support for girls to get into game development. Whether or not this kid's mom has money isn't the point to these supporters. They want this girl, and by extension other girls, to see there's support for them out there. It's encouragement. That's what they are kickstarting. After all, the consumer(kicking in money) gets to decide what they want to spend money on. It's lame for someone to put themselves in a position where they get to decide who needs the money or not. It's not about getting the money to those who need it, it's about people putting their project ideas out there and seeing if they can get support.

Not hire someone to do it for them.
why the fuck would a millionaire start a fundraiser for themselves
Susan's also been strong for her daughter, shielding Kenzie from the negativity surrounding her Kickstarter project as best as she could. "She's seen me cry once. I got a message saying 'I hope you die a lonely, cold death,' and that's when she saw me break down."
who the fuck sends messages like this god almighty
I feel bad for her but come on, she's still got the ks up and she's even breaking more rules now by wanting to change the project. She should just cut her losses. If her ks was sincere, but is tired of the backlash, i feel sorry for her but she should have thought this trough and should just end it now. If she's just a money grabbing cunt she should just see it's time to fuck off and think of a new scam.
If her mother is a millionaire... why does she need a kickstarter for money so her kid can get into a camp?
