Maybe, I think it has to do something with the mother advertising it all over twitter.
this is so incredibly cringe worthy

gj you bumped a thread to tell me how awful I am and you were sexist about it
Yes. That was the point.
She seems to have literally no interest in the game project at all.
Maybe, I think it has to do something with the mother advertising it all over twitter.
She's taken the Nigerian scammer approach and adapted it for twitter.
How the hell the donors don't find that suspicious at-least a single bit is worrying.
The thing I don't like is how the mother seems to be trying to use this whole thing as a huge PR stunt for her feminist shit.
calling this feminist is an insult to feminism lol
calling this feminist is an insult to feminism lol
Blame the mother for using the guise of feminism to rake in money then.
oh my god someone ACTUALLY found her address and info and posted it on pastebin in the youtube comments

She's a fairly well known woman, it probably wasn't all that hard to find her address seeing as we already know her name and everything.
I'm confused, i need a explanation.
So let me see: A Millionaire puts up a kickstarter to raise $900 for her daughter to make an RPG. it raises over $21000
OH. so they got 10x of the money or something like that.
let me see how is the RPG, maybe its good.

I don't know.. a nine-year old girl maybe?!? Really, it's just a kid that wants to show her mother something that she's interested in - let her, there's nothing weird about it.
The mother is a scumbag, though I really don't get why you guys are trying to frame it as a promotion of feminism. I don't think it plays on feminism as much as it does on "Let's show her older brothers that they're stupid" - I don't think that necessarily has any traces of feminism.

The list of people she spammed it to on twitter is full of women's groups.

Because according to Kickstarter themselves, it's within their rules

Considering her actions and behavior, I'd say she had it coming.
Obviously I would've preferred a more mature approach, but the mother herself is acting damn immature herself, sprinkled with a tiny bit of professionalism.
Because according to Kickstarter themselves, it's within their rules
There's been at-least a few times in his thread where it's been highlighted that her actions in comparison to the kickstarter rules are questionable at best.

It's probably been posted before, but I'll repost it anyways
The Huffington Post reached out to Kickstarter to find out whether the project was in violation of the site's terms of use. Justin Kazmark in the communications department responded with the following email:
"Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. The goal of this project is to create a video game, which backers are offered for a $10 pledge. On Kickstarter backers ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether they decide to fund it."
I'm curious to know who backed it.
But this is all just beating a dead horse. I'm surprised the thread won't die.
I bet she bribed kickstarter.
I bet she bribed kickstarter.
She doesn't need to, they get a cut of every project anyway. Why would they remove the project and cut off some of their own income?
She doesn't need to, they get a cut of every project anyway. Why would they remove the project and cut off some of their own income?
Exactly. They have no reason to have or enforce any rules at all, unless there's something illegal or something giving them more bad PR than money.

Wow
It's funny how it uses the same advertising technique as porn.
I can't control how people spend their money but I can tell them how they should..
So many deserving projects in need of money. People with true passion, vision and skill and yet this gets so much money.
I hope she succeeds, it would make me feel better about this whole arrangement.. :downs:
Poor kid, money is great but now you have all these expectations.
Am I the only one who thinks she funneled 20k into it to make it look big? It hasn't really moved since its release...

I wouldn't be surprised. She ran some scams on IndieGogo, and she was almost always the first donator, along with quite a few in her family's names (including her daughter).
Here's a really egregious example, although it's not one of her scams, just her making things look more funded: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-me-get-these-kids-off-video-games-hunting-for-real-treasure?c=pledges. All the donators are her or her family (which makes sense, since there's zero appeal for anyone else to donate). That includes her daughter, who would supposedly be 7 at the time.

I had always suspected that the project was only really being funded by close family members and friends, but had nothing to support this. If you want to go full conspiracy mode, you could say all this publicity was just to get people to support her Kickstarter, FundHer.org. Especially after seeing all the big bad Internet meanies pushing a poor, innocent 9 year-old away from learning STEM tracks.
[editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
Wow, even more proof of how much of a scumbag she is:

I read a few articles and comments about the RPG camp thing and someone mentioned this bit of information.
Apparently in August 2012 Susan Wilson, the creator of the controversial RPG camp Kickstarter, attempted to run a scam through Indiegogo where she misrepresented popular mass-produced iPhone cases sold through Amazon, Walmart and other retailers as a new product called “Life-Case”, using phrases like “our first limited production run” and “we’re focusing on creating the best iPhone case EVER”. She apparently convinced well-meaning people that she designed the case herself and hoped she would be able to make $10,000 without a single person noticing the cases were just shit from the Walmart electronics department???
