Is there a feature for reporting Kickstarts? The best thing that would happen with this is if it got pulled, and the girl learned a valuable lesson that not everything will always go your way.
Is there a feature for reporting Kickstarts? EDIT: beat me to it.
I looked on the kickstarter and she just wanted $829. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/susanwilson/9-year-old-building-an-rpg-to-prove-her-brothers-w I can't really blame the her mother for being money hungry or something. But still, yeah it may breach KickStarter's tos.
why is a millionaire raising $900?
Guess I'm logged into my old account from 06. The gig is up. Anyways, really, complain, report it to Kickstarter, do anything because this is a total abuse of Kickstarter, her family certainly doesn't need the money and well, connect one dot to another and I'm sure the mother's position in business certainly played a factor in getting this thing approved in the first place.
Look at the comment section. You have to donate to complain and some people actually gave a dollar just to complain about it being against the terms of service.
lol they don't seem like the brightest bunch then if people feel it's against the terms of service then complain to kickstarter about it. simple as that. this has no impact on anyone who chooses not to donate. the people who gave money did it with their own freewill and they're expecting to get the game and whatever other extras. who cares what they did with their money?
The reason this pisses me off is I struggled to find funding for my game that I have worked my ass off for years on end, barely making over the absolute minimum I could ask for and finish the project, meanwhile these people with actual money are asking for 10x the amount I asked for and then they get it within a couple hours, and they get another ten times the amount ON TOP of what they asked for. It's bullshit.
You, I like you.
why is a millionaire raising $900?
Maybe the mother doesn't want to spoil the kid.
this is adorable; but 21 grand seriously?? people on kickstarter should practice a little restraint wow [editline]24th March 2013[/editline]
Clever, yes but it's definitely a shitty thing to do on a site aimed towards entrepreneurs that otherwise wouldn't be able to support their projects and their lifestyles without crowd funding. It's also spitting in the face of everyone Kickstarter has ever rejected due to their "strict guidelines", many of which were a hell of a lot more legitimate causes. It's especially a shitty thing to do when the mother is a millionaire that is even on CNN's most influential female figures in business.
You have a terrible attitude, I wouldn't back you. Life isn't fair, get over it. If you put as much energy into making games and promoting yourself as you did complaining about what other people are doing with their money then valve would probably have hired you by now. It's legit, the funds are paying for the kid to go somewhere and produce a game. She's producing a product and is going to distribute it. See all the other stuff being given out? I should imagine her rather wealthy family is funding all that and I doubt they're actually making much if anything in the way of profit. It's tempting (but terribly childish) just to donate to spite you.

ok if stoner dudes who squat in SF can gather enough money to record their folk-metal record for a couple hundred, i think you could easily gather 80 dollars if it really is that important to you
Whats with the mothers facebook [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] its just keep up, what am i supposed to keep up with
kup eep
oh its their logo, spammed a million times on the wall in case you dont forget it

If this learning experience is going to come of use for a future product, why aren't I able to donate some money to pay for some kids education that wants to go to Digipen? I'm sure that knowledge will end up being used somewhere down the line. Kickstarter also has a quality control system and that is why they require screenshots and gameplay footage, they just don't allow some kid's game maker project on the site to request 800 dollars so why should they start now? [editline]24th March 2013[/editline]
You were asking for $80? Hell, I'd throw you $80.
It was more of a rant about Tim Schafer and a few others getting millions more than they asked, for pretty basic games.

(p.s. you can fund peoples education if you wish, there are plenty of bursarys funded by ordinary people you can apply for for financial help whilst going to university, you just contribute to one of those)

You're paying for a product to be developed and I am obligated to deliver on whatever perk was listed at the donation level. Don't like the idea of a "in development preorder"? Fine. Don't like me as a person? Fine but don't pretend that you're some saint for giving me twenty dollars to finish a game I've worked years and years on.
:words:
Unrelated to the thread but I'd like to see your project you're working on. Got a link? Or footage or something whatever.
stop being a sore loser, they obviously marketed their idea better its not bullshit at all.
You're saying that because "It's for feminism" makes it marketed better? You don't even know what kind of game Daniel had. You've just sided with a 9 year old with a powerful millionaire mommy. Also, what the flying fuck? Why does the mum not fund her own daughter's game? Does she herself not have any faith in it's success? Why would she ask others to front the cash? Shame on the people who funded this and not more deserving projects.
What surprise me most is people who gave 20,000$.
Unrelated to the thread but I'd like to see your project you're working on. Got a link? Or footage or something whatever.
I've said some things in this thread and on this forum that I would prefer not trace back to my project but I'll just say that it's a post apocalyptic survival horror game and I don't think I'll be having any trouble getting it greenlit. Sorry for going off topic but Kickstarter needs to get their head out of their ass. I'm just glad indie gogo is getting more and more popular.
Funny, because it's better than Windows 7, so YOU should stop living in the past and upgrade.
I'd rather ubuntu.
I still don't understand why you are able to donate money over the goal. If enough money got rased the "back this project up" button should disappear. Looking at the front page this seems to be a common issue. People see a project they like and just throw money at it even though it's already funded. This for example " http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/201030759/sigmund-freud-typeface-a-letter-to-your-shrink " is funded to 765%.
Rewards?
Right this might sound blunt and it might be harsh but this is how it is. People fund what they want to see, and more people see it if its advertised. Its pretty much Daniels fault his project didn't get funded as well because 1. it clearly wasn't advertised well and 2. If it didn't receive much funding its probably because not many people wanted to see it. This 9 y/o and her mum isn't stealing your funding because you couldn't advertise or make a wanted product. I could spend hours and hours making a shit game no one wants, and then have it not do well because its simply not wanted and I couldn't be bothered advertising it. Might sound harsh but its how it is. I can see your side of it but you can't be like that because yours didn't do as well, there is good reason for that. [sub][sub]but yea this girls kickstarter should be removed, clearly breaking the tos[/sub][/sub]
Rewards?
I forgot about those. Guess it makes sense then.
