If I was a millionare I wouldn't give my kids heaps of handouts, sure theyd live a nice life but Id make them work a lot of their stuff
What work did this teach the kid? What lesson did this kid learn from her mom essentially running a scam on an emotional and current topic, feminism? I'd say none what so ever and doing chores would have been a fuck ton better of a lesson, this woman clearly is not genuine in her goals for this project.
I kind of hope this game comes out (spoilers: it won't) because I want to see the awful reviews it'd be given.
its a nine year old's game wtf is wrong with you
no, but you could pay for a short class on how to better use a game engine or something like that
"how to better use a game engine" do you even know what you're talking about?
"how to better use a game engine" do you even know what you're talking about?
Like I'm sure there's courses for learning how to better implement UDK, CryEngine or Unity3D or something dude, just an example.

why do people get so invested in this crap, wow she's an asshole; cool i don't get it
it's like those cruddy ponzi schemes of the 80s and they've come back for vengeance and money maybe Max Keiser will have a huge scream about it sometime
why do people get so invested in this crap, wow she's an asshole; cool i don't get it
people are upset because a multimillionaire is creating a kickstarter to buy her daughter a laptop and send her to camp (both of which are against the ToS and both of which are unnecessary for a fucking multimillionaire (and the laptop isn't even necessary because she says she already has access to a desktop computer, so at this point she just feels like having a laptop and mum figured it'd be a good idea to ask the internet instead of spending 0.00001% of her disposable income on it)), spamming people on twitter and then finally trying to pass off the entire moronic project as though its somehow meant to empower women by teaching them that if you're a cute little girl you can just hope somebody else will make your dreams come true if you ask nicely enough
why do people get so invested in this crap, wow she's an asshole; cool i don't get it
because it shits on kickstarter it shits on people who have REAL kickstarters it shits on people who aren't abusing the system it shits on people who don't have the ability to ride a campaign on their daughter and on feminism it shits on people who have a legitimate desire to fund projects that won't turn out to be scams it shits on the poor people who have to resort to kickstarter for their projects it shits on her daughter because rather than teach her good lessons, she's learning to manipulate and lie to get what you want from her mother i mean really you're asking why someone who is basically being a fucking scam artist is being a target of called out for being such.
Lol what a hypocrite. How low can you go?
Hope this gets taken down before the kickstarter end date. Kickstarter should be used for if you are not financially stable and need help financially to do X thing with the intent of sharing what you have done via the different tiers.
because it shits on kickstarter it shits on people who have REAL kickstarters it shits on people who aren't abusing the system it shits on people who don't have the ability to ride a campaign on their daughter and on feminism it shits on people who have a legitimate desire to fund projects that won't turn out to be scams it shits on the poor people who have to resort to kickstarter for their projects it shits on her daughter because rather than teach her good lessons, she's learning to manipulate and lie to get what you want from her mother i mean really you're asking why someone who is basically being a fucking scam artist is being a target of called out for being such.
No, I mean why do people make these huge images with everything they've ever done wrong, I just don't get that.
No, I mean why do people make these huge images with everything they've ever done wrong, I just don't get that.
It's an easy and efficient way of compiling information.
No, I mean why do people make these huge images with everything they've ever done wrong, I just don't get that.
because some people are endless apologists for the actions of shit heads for one reason or another, and a large infographic that points out just how obvious and bad that hypocrisy and stupidity is, it shocks those apologists into silence or it provokes even stupider arguments. It's also to help dissuade further kickstarter pledgers pledging to this shit, it allows more people to easily see how bullshit this is and report it as such, and it probably didn't take it's creator very long in anyway to be an inconvience, so why not? I don't think getting knowledge out about shitty people abusing a system is a bad thing, especially not when we have apologists for her actions. money is at stake here, and some people are very serious about not letting people get burned by bullshit artists
inb4 this is all just one of /b/'s cis master plans to troll mankind (User was banned for this post ("Meme reply" - Craptasket))
I looked on the kickstarter and she just wanted $829. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/susanwilson/9-year-old-building-an-rpg-to-prove-her-brothers-w I can't really blame the her mother for being money hungry or something. But still, yeah it may breach KickStarter's tos.
You can pledge 10,000 dollars And there are 5 spots for it And they're making this in RPG Maker 50,000 dollars i just grr
this image has been going viral -image-
I don't like how they try to target the kid in the last part, really misses the point - though I must say that Dragon Age II is really bad taste.
What I don't get is why she would bother soiling her name and using her kids just for a measily $900. Even the $10000 she raised right now should be peanuts to her if she is really that rich. Does she just love money so much?

call it a idiot tax if it actually passes
Publicity is another thing.
People say that negative publicity doesn't exist, but when you own a company you don't want to be known as the woman that scammed people.
why do people get so invested in this crap, wow she's an asshole; cool i don't get it
on the contrary, why are you so invested in defending this travesty
on the contrary, why are you so invested in defending this travesty
I was referring to people creating huge images detailing every mistake the kickstarter has, I just think it's silly. All I did was post a few times, and I never really defended it.
oh okay, fair enough I guess people do it to compress all the arguments against it into a handy image? it's kind of hard to argue against that kind of combined information. I dunno, people do what they like with their spare time, such as alerting people of borderline scams like this
There's nothing wrong with the project if it weren't being spammed, really. This clearly violates the TOS but there's nothing wrong with a mom not wanting to just hand her child money for something and instead helping her get the money another way. And it's totally OK for projects to fund your life but not for funding your life. Those are two completely different things. Still, you're all getting too worked up over it, especially that Daniel dude.
You're saying that the mom didn't want to just hand her the money? Right, that's why she turned to fucking kickstarter so she could get other people to just hand her the money! It's the same goddam thing: the kid's still doing no work whatsoever. I fucking hate kickstarter at this point. It was intended to help people who have goals of making an awesome product like a game or a movie but who have no money actually get the money to realize those goals. Now it's just people like Sarkeesian and this nine-year-old girl's mother playing off of meaningless tumblr social justice issues to get peoples' money even though they probably don't need it. We've got people like Daniel M. who (presumably) work hard to make a game, would tell you all about the game and exactly what the finished product is slated to look like, and they get no funding because people go "aww look at this nine year old let's help her show those silly boys that girls can make/play vidya too!" Honestly, she's a fucking nine year old. People have donated a total of $21000 to a nine-year-old with a millionaire mom, so she can go to camp. I bet in a month or two this kid will not even care about RPGs anymore. Do you have any idea how fucking quickly a nine-year-old's interests will change?
I was referring to people creating huge images detailing every mistake the kickstarter has, I just think it's silly.
I fucking hate kickstarter at this point.
that's pretty drastic. there have been dumb kickstarters since its inception
Now it's just people like Sarkeesian and this nine-year-old girl's mother playing off of meaningless tumblr social justice issues to get peoples' money even though they probably don't need it.
so it's, uh, this woman and Sarkeesian. ignoring the fact that this bullshit is nothing like tropes vs. women, that's two examples. can you think of any other ones? how many shitty kickstarters go up every day?
We've got people like Daniel M. who (presumably) work hard to make a game
err
would tell you all about the game and exactly what the finished product is slated to look like
well, he hasn't yet, but then again he's not on kickstarter
and they get no funding because people like you, Shadaez, go "aww look at this nine year old let's help her show those silly boys that girls can make/play vidya too!"
what? are you joking? Shadaez hasn't funded this idiot's work. there have been plenty of awesome-looking ideas which have been funded by kickstarter. you think if this RPG kickstarter didn't exist, the idiots who funded it would fund better stuff instead?
Honestly, she's a fucking nine year old. People have donated a total of $21000 to a nine-year-old with a millionaire mom, so she can go to camp. You're right, I shouldn't have called Shadaez out. Sorry for that. I still stand by everything else that I said, though. And as for other projects that play off social justice issues, off the top of my head there's something like Tropes vs Men and Videogames, and some "Gaming in Colour" LGBT gaming documentary about how different it is to play games if you're LGBT. Both of which are almost universally considered lousy. Don't think I'm just against the feminist ones.
You didn't really word it like that until after a few people started to pick your arguments apart.
I never defended this Kickstarter, I said that there was inherent problem with the basic idea. I later refined my argument to be *tuition / camera buying / whatever isn't disallowed by the guidelines (though it shouldn't be the sole use of the funds)*. While it's not KS's intended use and is bordering breaking the rules by the funds being solely for tuition, the goal is arguably to create a game with tuition just being a step to the goal. Yeah, it's the only step, but it's not a clear violation. The wording of the guidelines doesn't explicitly prohibit the use of funds for tuition, and if this were a poor family with a little kid doing this and the mother wasn't spamming shit or exploiting a childs interests for monetary gain, then I think that it should have been given a little leeway. Those are showing games through the perspective of women / lgbt. They have a purpose, you may not think that they serve a good purpose, and I get that it's hard to see it from your perspective but if they do you shouldn't try and shut down their view.
can you just fuck off, seriously
naw do u have anything positive to say if not u can just leave and not come back tho thx
