Every application runs in fullscreen, even desktop ones
welp, TIL. Haven't used 10 for quite a while, I thought this is how this setting is called now.
How the hell did you make your start menu like that?
I think it's Classic Shell, but it also could be StartisBack or Start8. First one being free.
Are you making a joke? I don't get it. I meant Windows 98.
No, the windows 7 BSOD looks like that. its the windows 8/8.1 one that's different
is there a way to disable the forced driver updates yet?
Yup. Should still be there: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2015/07/stop-windows-from-automatically-updating-your-hardware-drivers/ Just in-case its not or you want to block other updates: http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-releases-tool-to-hide-or-block-unwanted-windows-10-updates/
I still don't understand why people choose not to upgrade. It's always just been a straight up upgrade. "Here is everything you like but better" And it's free for most people as well.
Windows 10 is different since it seems to be tock. Windows 8 wasn't.
Yup. Windows installed a new version, higher than the one that was being sent to me via geforce, with the windows 10 driver [editline]23rd July 2015[/editline] Alright. You're not going to like this It will download even if your driver installation settings are set to no. Sucking it up, windows update downloaded the update again, and asked for a restart (usually aren't needed for geforce updates but whatever).
I feel conflicted Because I had the first hand experiance of knowing that that option doesn't block anything It's still set to prompt, and it downloaded a windows application for a network printer automatically [t]http://link-removed.xyz/i/2015/07/15-07-29_00-33-18.png[/t] [t]http://link-removed.xyz/i/2015/07/15-07-29_00-32-04.png[/t]
Because Microsoft isn't giving an OS for free because they love you. I would like to see what they want from me first before upgrading. Even if the free upgrade thing runs out I can always get it for free from Dreamspark so I can wait.
They are doing it to counter the fact that Apple do love their users and give away free OS upgrades. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] Also, is there a way (yet?) to get an ISO to do a fresh install? I have had Windows 7 installed for like 3 years and I want to trash the lot anyway so this is a perfect opportunity to do so.
Did you try the other utility I listed in my post?
It's for hiding updates as per usual Not blocking automatic driver installation It will hide updates however

DVD's are old fashioned. It puts everything it needs on the computer before re-starting and proceeding the installation. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
Windows 10 is different since it seems to be tock. Windows 8 wasn't.
Tock? Windows 8 was in every possible way better than 7. But oh no, I refuse to install Classic Shell to make the start menu look like I want. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
How the hell did you make your start menu like that?
As stated earlier, Classic Shell.
I mostly just want to wipe it as I have so much junk (2Tb drive with 50gb free). I might get an SSD first though.
Whole folder takes about 6.5gb (I'm upgrading to pro) Edit: running setup shows this: Dont want to continue incase errors / fuckups
so is the setup file in here actually for Win10? my folder is ~5gb but i haven't had anything pop up about the upgrade anywhere yet
Purely an opt-in feature, if you haven't actually looked.
Yeah it is but their opt out method feels like such an afterthought. Unless it turned out to be false you have to add _optout to your wifi name, right? Which means that Microsoft most likely still stores your wifi password on their servers but then checks the wifi name and sees that it shouldn't spread it. Maybe I am just too skeptical but I'll just wait and see what happens with W10.
so is the setup file in here actually for Win10? my folder is ~5gb but i haven't had anything pop up about the upgrade anywhere yet
It will probably pop up tomorrow. My folder is 5.98GB so pretty much 6. It was under 4 not long ago so I guess it's still downloading or just done.
It will probably pop up tomorrow. My folder is 5.98GB so pretty much 6. It was under 4 not long ago so I guess it's still downloading or just done.
yeah mine's at 5.93 now i wish i was not this impatient
Lucky you boys, my folder is a whopping 44.6 Megabytes.
I have a stupid question Is it gonna be a midnight launch or just random I'm in the UK
"the drivers" Which drivers?
nvidia had issues lately (screen tearing, second card for sli not being seen, etc) but the latest driver that came out yesterday fixed it
i'm very tempted to run that setup file and see what happens but i don't wanna mess anything up
I still don't understand why people choose not to upgrade. It's always just been a straight up upgrade. "Here is everything you like but better" And it's free for most people as well.
It's ridiculous how entitled some people can be when faced with a free upgrade.
I never upgrade until 3-4 months after. Not like it's really gonna hurt me sticking to W8.1.
I think i'll wait 2-3 months before installing it, you know, until they fix all the critical bugs.
Is it possible to transfer the GWX folder to a USB and still be able to download windows 10? Im trying to install Windows 10 on a new hard drive
Welp. Guess I'll have to wait another day so I can download it, right?
I have a question though Free forever?
yes [editline]d[/editline] kinda
For those who have been getting it, did you guys restart windows in the last 24 hours? Mine has been up for about 40 hours now.
