How can I tell when the upgrade is being downloaded? It just says that my upgrade is reserved, but there's no network activity according to task manager.
How much free room should I allocate on my main C:\ drive (a small SSD) before I do upgrade to 10? I'm just concerned that it may run out of room during the installation
Shit this is going to suck...I moved out of my house with decent, more than snail Internet connection speeds into a place where I get 2Mbps if I'm lucky. Windows isn't small dammit, I can't leave me PC on all day either.
it now failed 3 times
It doesn't seem to be downloading for me.
For those afraid of running the instaler now: it shuts down after giving you an error message about missing a file, this file wil probably be downloaded on release tomorrow.
the upgrade update is failing because boot.wim is not currently in the folder boot.wim being a vital part of the installer
Anyone else getting a missing WIM file? Oh, you fucking ninja
Should low-level stuff like antivirus software be uninstalled before upgrading Windows? Don't want to end up in a situation where incompatible software makes it so I can't boot.
What time does it release? [editline]a[/editline] 12AM ET on July 29th (9PM PST on July 28th)
I'm going to wait a week or so to upgrade, once all the 0-day bugs and incompatibilities are fixed (and once I'm back from vacation). Does windows 10 have Clover-like functionality?
Does windows 10 have Clover-like functionality?
No
No
Damn, and I doubt Clover works in W10.
Damn, and I doubt Clover works in W10.
If it works in 8 I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it worked in 10, but I dunno. I love tabbed file managers, but I never got around to installing anything to make it work on a Windows machine.
What's the upgrade like? If I have rainmeter skins installed and lots of games and applications with custom settings and stuff how will that copy over?
You have 1 year to upgrade for free, once you upgrade you have it forever. It wont lock you out of your PC until you pay, but if you don't upgrade during the free period they'll start charging for it.
Ah ic, ty

If shit breaks it's because shit's lost compatibility and should need updating, or at least looking into any errors
Is there an option to do a clean install? I don't want the junk from upgrading.
I've not really been keeping updated with w10, can I still use the start screen w8.1 style or is it start menu only?
I've not really been keeping updated with w10, can I still use the start screen w8.1 style or is it start menu only?
You can pick the one you want
I've not really been keeping updated with w10, can I still use the start screen w8.1 style or is it start menu only?
You can use whichever one you want.
Sweet, I just saw a pic of the start menu on the first page and was hoping the screen wasn't gone
Well, I certainly hope they'll allow clean installs. I don't want to keep any of the crud that's gathered during the years I've had this install.
Does anyone know when the installer unlocks? Is it at midnight or some other specific time?
Does anyone know when the installer unlocks? Is it at midnight or some other specific time?
midnight american eastern time
Well, I certainly hope they'll allow clean installs. I don't want to keep any of the crud that's gathered during the years I've had this install.
There's been a reset feature since Win 8, it's basically a clean install. So even if the upgrade itself doesn't offer a clean install you can always do the upgrade first and then do the reset.
Does windows 10 run alright, like how would i know what will work with windows 10. Would i have to completely wipe my pc clean, because i've got a lot of stuff i don't want to loose.
Are they still doing the "forcing you to update and have no control over updates if you have Home edition" thing? If so I don't know if I wanna get Windows 10.
is there any way to find out which version of windows ten i'm getting?
is there any way to find out which version of windows ten i'm getting?
If you have W7 Home, you get Home. If you have Pro/Ult, you get Pro.
