Donald Trump set to have the view from his golf course ruined. Freedom died today RIP

Off-shore is actually one of the best places to put them. When they're placed in land, they fuck up birds badly. It might not look like it, but those blades are spinning with a lot of force behind them. Now I don't exactly know if it was just sensational or not, but what I heard is they cause issues with bird migrations. Off-shore has a lot less birds. :v:
Regardless if it's true or not, I think they look pretty badass.

You must have some really fucked up trees in Canada.

I'm pretty sure skyscrapers have displaced more wind than wind turbines ever will.

That's pretty annoying but it would last for what, 30 minutes?
Regardless I'd still consider those wind turbines to be too close to those houses anyway

Seeing this makes me wonder if all the proponents for wind turbines would like to live with this. They may look nice to look at, but they don't seem fun to live with.

Nobody wants to live with that. That's like asking if proponents of coal want to live down wind from a coal plant. The answer is no.
Guys, this is a resort, view is a big thing when it comes to resorts and would certainly make it valued less.
Bit unfair to plonk some shit in the view and say "too bad", but because he's worked himself to the top, we say who cares.

If this were some random bloke who owned a resort, we'd be willing to at least hear him out.
But this is Donald Trump, this "it ruins the view" bullshit is just a cover up - he's actively trying to kill the wind power industry and make fossil fuels the only power source. He probably owns stock in the coal industry.

I'm pretty sure basically all forms of harnessing energy are not fun to live with, solar might be the least invasive and annoying

In my opinion they ruin the view, nice open ocean to huge spinning shit in the distance.
Is it really impossible for him to not like them either?

I'd say wind turbines are the most invasive and annoying easily, not hard to see why trumpy doesn't want them
Didn't one guy that went up against Trump win Scot of the year a while back, I think i read something about it somewhere
I'm hard-pressed to think of a more backwards viewpoint than this. The proliferation of wind turbines is anything but destructive. They have practically no environmental impact, save for the dirt that needs to be misplaced to plant them. There is hardly a cleaner, less destructive source of energy out there. They're also quite pretty, in my opinion, but I guess at least that bit is subjective.
Actually they do have a pretty significant environmental impact that's not really being addressed, I'm guessing because they're "green energy" and therefore can't be bad in the public eye. Birds and bats are big parts of the ecosystem and wind turbines are proving to be extremely effective at killing them. Bats are vulnerable because out of all the species of bats that exist, not many have more than one pup per year which makes their population growth slow. Plus installing them can, and sometimes does, mean deforestation on high ground that's obviously exposed to the wind. This needs to be carefully controlled, or else the wind will literally erode the soil away which is not a good thing at all. Meanwhile, as OvB said, offshore wind farms have literally none of those problems and sometimes an even greater efficiency!
What an asshole. Rich people and their bitching, "these apprentices are wasting my time, those wind turbines are ruining my view, my hair piece just blew away" .

Contractors ignoring regulations and installing the turbines too close isn't really the fault of wind power itself.
Am I the only one that actually LIKES windmills aesthetically?

I actually wasn't aware of the bird/bat issue. I didn't imagine that these spun quickly enough to pose a serious risk, but I suppose that birds do have a certain propensity for slamming themselves into fatal objects that they shouldn't have. I feel you on the deforestation issues to a degree, however. The environmental impact of clearing a few trees on a hilltop seems almost negligible compared to that of a coal plant (though it doesn't seem as if an area that forces deforestation for the implementation of this technology is well suited for it to begin with).
As you and OvB said: this is best implemented along the coast and in plains regions, and sufficiently far enough away from homes and businesses to prevent shadow flicker and any potential noise pollution.

What do they call that? NIMBYism or something? Though maybe i'm being unfair because I have blackout shades and I would just draw them for 30 minutes while the shadow falls in my room. No big deal.
All the benefits and drawbacks aside, the last thing I'd call them is "ugly". Hell, give it a decade and even the current relatively bland models will be phased out in favor of all those ambitious neodecor designs currently floating about...
