None of us know what they'll do with what, but hey, they are still attacking this place so it means something.

They do not need the fucking lands, heck, even Crimea wasn't that necessary. The reason that the attacks are going INdirectly, and the reason this looks more and more like a proxy war is because they do not need the fight themselves - they're attributing a bit more resources towards rebels so that there would be a turmoil in the region. And as to why they want to destabilize the region - you got me. Maybe they want to show that world should take Russia's actions as serious as USAs, i do not know. I'm not that good at RF's strategy.
They want to destabilize the region so Ukraine won't be able to join NATO. Regulation dictates that the country must be stable and at peace with all it's neighbors to join the alliance.
