And nothing gets you more credit in Latin America than shaking your fist at Americans
How will Americans shoot each other without guns though?
The last time a lot of Americans shot each other was over 150 years ago. You're more than a bit late.
I've always wondered, why do they destroy the weapons they seize? I guess they smelt them down and use the metal or something.
They do not destroy them all. Certain guns go to museums (such as a WW2 German Luger), military grade weapons are given to the military (such as .50cals, LMG's and rocket launchers, and yes they have those), with the remainder being melted down.
These drug cartels should buy second hand tanks, like T34, T-55 etc
These drug cartels should buy second hand tanks, like T34, T-55 etc
i think tank sales would be a little noticeable
Why would they even bother doing this? Its just a waste of money and resources for something that wont work. Drug traffickers know what they are doing is wrong, they just dont give a fuck and will keep doing what they do.
Stop sending drugs then.
Make a billboard on the US side. And make it out of crystal meth.
that's like saying 'stop demanding drugs then'
Ok and they are demanding guns.

When you have 300,000+ confiscated weapons which only grows, yet you are destroying them constantly, it is not like they have a better use for it.
Why bother smuggling guns into US when you can get almost any cannon legally in there?
Why bother smuggling guns into US when you can get almost any cannon legally in there?
It's not as easy as you make it out to be.
US isn't exactly innocent in this. Plenty of the weapons in Mexico came from the US, and our war on drugs is a joke. Americans consume the most illegal drugs in the world, so obviously the cartels have a huge incentive to bring drugs over here. End the war on drugs and stop giving drug cartels incentives to come over here.
i think tank sales would be a little noticeable
Like the cartels would fucking care. They carry out killings in public, might as well go whole hog.
Like the cartels would fucking care. They carry out killings in public, might as well go whole hog.
Tanks are nowhere near as easy to smuggle as a gun. A tank weighs anything from 5-70 tonnes (MBTs weighing generally 40 tonnes and above), and completely impossible to disguise. If they used it, it'd give the Mexican military something to use their stocks of AT missiles on, so it wouldn't last long enough to be worth the massive expense in getting the bloody thing in the first place.

For the massive waste of effort in getting an actual tank, they could just up-armour a bunch of pickup trucks and strap guns onto those. The added manoeuvrability would mean they'd be effective enough against police (could shrug off any pistol or rifle calibre bullets) while not being a massive "WE'RE A MILITARY THREAT NOW, BLOW THE FUCK OUT OF US" sign to the military. Even though the cartels are bold as fuck, some degree of speed and subtlety is still needed for them not to get assraped. Gunning people down in broad daylight is still more useful to cartels because the person doing the shooting is easy to find a replacement for, and far more capable of escape afterwards. What mexico needs to do is just legalize the manufacturing and distribution of drugs. Let it become america's problem, further pushing the need to legalize drugs in the US, which would shift demand away from the cartels completely. But of course if Mexico did that, they would probably lose any aid they get from the US.
I find it amusing this fucking piece of shit wants to whine about our guns when the most fucking high profile in Mexico is commanded by ex-members of the Mexican Military's Special Forces Yet somehow the semi-automatic rifles we own are more of a threat than fully automatic assault rifles and explosives looted from Mexican Army armories [editline]18th February 2012[/editline]
It's not as easy as you make it out to be.
It is easier to fill out the NFA paperwork and get the tax stamp than get permits to own any kind of semi-automatic firearm in most European Countries.
Why bother smuggling guns into US when you can get almost any cannon legally in there?
Yep, picked one of these up at Wal-Mart the other day:
instead of destroying the guns, give them to innocent Mexican citizens. Then when a cartel rolls into town and tries to kill someone they can go all "Machete" on them and wipe out the cartels once and for all. If everyone has guns there is no gun violence because they are afraid of retaliation! [sp]This is a ridiculous idea and is not meant to be taken seriously. Sadly some people actually use this argument to suggest that guns should be completely unregulated[/sp]
