This is pretty irrelevant given how much fuel economy varies just based on driving habits. We'd save a lot more than .7% if people just, for example, stopped driving like assholes.
I agree with small cars needing to be roomier, though, fat people buy massive trucks and SUVs because having your ass jammed between the console and the door is uncomfortable.
