A 12-year-old girl who fought off cancer has been kicked out of school because she did not attend enough classes while she was having treatment. Rose McGrath from Battle Creek, Michigan, who has been receiving lengthy treatment since being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2012, was recently told she could no longer attend St. Joseph's Middle School, reports WWMT. The private Catholic school cited her low attendance record and poor academic performance."I didn't do anything wrong, but they still got rid of me," a tearful Rose said. The letter said that the school had tried to reduce Rose's workload. "They were extraordinary circumstances, but so many accommodations were made we felt eventually it became a point where we really had to help Rose, by being able to make sure that she was getting the assistance that she needed and to learn," said Battle Creek's Father John Fleckenstein.
http://m.nydailynews.com/news/national/mich-girl-missed-school-cancer-treatment-kicked-article-1.2198576
She probably got cancer from attending that school.
fuck catholics man their a real piece of work.
Well schools have zero tolerance on fighting these days. Might be why.
Aren't private schools the pinnacle of grooming?
the title made me think this would be some crazy story about a 0 tolerance school kicking her out for "fighting" real story is still bullshit, what kind of school does shit like that
fuck catholics man their a real piece of work.
1.2 billion people are a real piece of work?
Private school, they did this to pad their statistics. Also private schools are under no compulsion to help work around her illness, but you'd think a catholic school of all places would be helpful, at least she's young and beaten cancer, so...this isn't really the worst possible thing in her life, she probably would have had to be held back a grade anyways because of the treatments. Hope this doesn't bring her down, she didn't do anything wrong.
Aren't private schools the pinnacle of grooming?
some private schools are amazing, but others are complete trash source: been to two that are literally on opposite ends of the spectrum of good/shitty
1.2 billion people are a real piece of work?
The die-hards (as in running these schools) are.
"They were extraordinary circumstances, but so many accommodations were made we felt eventually it became a point where we really had to help Rose, by being able to make sure that she was getting the assistance that she needed and to learn"
Would help if they actually explained what the accommodations were and how they think kicking her out is helping tbh
they couldn't have just had her go on medical leave? obviously she still has to do the required work in order to graduate, but couldn't they have at least let her take the time off she needed then let her redo the things she missed?
yeah fuck Catholicism Judaism is where its at
Fucking scum, all of you. Praise the one true God, and his holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
"They were extraordinary circumstances, but so many accommodations were made we felt eventually it became a point where we really had to help Rose, by being able to make sure that she was getting the assistance that she needed and to learn"
Yes, kicking her out of school helps her. Now excuse me while I go masturbate with a cheese grater while drinking a glass smoothie. Clearly, the world is much different from how I thought it was.

Religious schools should not be a thing at all.
Religious schools should not be a thing at all.
dat generalization
I think a private school should be able to set standards, such as for attendance. If you don't meet those standards, for any reason, then they boot you out. Public schools should be the ones who accept everyone, even if you have to miss a lot of class.
Would help if they actually explained what the accommodations were and how they think kicking her out is helping tbh
I think the obvious implication is if you're ill and can't attend school, perhaps some home schooling or tutoring would be to your benefit. That way you keep working on your education even while you aren't in class.
Also private schools are under no compulsion to help work around her illness,
That's bullshit. It should be enforced by law that schools has to help them all they can or let the students redo classes if they have something so serious they are hospitalized. And not be allowed to just kick them out.
dat generalization
I'm sure there are plenty of perfectly good religious schools, but I just don't consider education to be an appropriate thing to be left in the hands of religious organisations.
fuck catholics man their a real piece of work.
I really can't tell if you're not being serious here or just a bigot.
I bet the cancer started the fight too.
I would have just said "ok we can't help you much more, take the rest of the year off you can start the Nth grade again next year" but I think that would make me overqualified to run an American school
fuck catholics man their a real piece of work.
Yeah man I personally met up with the school's principle at the bi-annual Catholic meeting in the Vatican and me, him and the Pope all agreed that we have to kick her out. It was all us.
Fucking religion bullshit smh... Religion is such a crock of horse shit. Fuck these types of schools. School in general is just a giant public day care system kids only learn if they're motivated and want to.
