New Leaked Info about Warcraft Movie: Will be based on Warcraft: Orcs Vs Humans, not WoW - Polidicks

The original games barely even had a story. It's just a generic amalgamation of fantasy tropes, it'll make for a thematically boring film but I'm sure it'll be entertaining if they go all out for the action sequences.

I would say the Warcraft lore goes much further beyond the Lord of the Rings series. There is so much to the entire story. There is also so much that hasn't even been told yet, the way they keep track of everything and keep everything in line with previous story elements has been pretty amazing. If you look at the basic premise of the games, yes orcs/humans, that is practically lord of the rings and many other types of movies. However if you actually pay attention to the story, you are going to be given a lot more than what you originally wanted. There are so many side stories and things that, honestly don't pertain to probably anything in the story. Though they write it out anyway because that's what makes an amazing story, and it allows them to expand on that to connect back into the main story line if they so choose. I really wish they had an official book series going from the first Warcraft and following continuously through all the games. As you do miss stuff in the games. (However you can read most of the details online)

The Warcraft universe is my absolute favorite fantasy universe. I am so fucking excited for this movie, especially now that it'll be set during the WC1 era and not the moderately messy timeline that is World of Warcraft (I do still love what they've done with WoW, don't get me wrong. I just felt the story and characters were infinitely stronger in the RTS's.

A good example would be a few story lines pre-cata WoW in Stranglehorn Vale, and who killed VanCleef in Vanilla.

shit I just watched that cinematic and the soundtrack from WoW kept popping in... I really like this universe. I really do hope it sticks to just pre-MoP stuff, the artstyle and overall direction for it is kind of bleak with how the world was up to Cataclysm. They're more than most likely make a couple sequels to it, this is a world with such a large and widely spread fan following that it could bring them lots of cash.

So in short, it's about the old lore, before it just went into a brickwall after Frozen Throne, because lore in an MMO tends to get a little silly? I'm all in favor, some people don't even know the RTS games exist.
