Discrimination based on Sexual orientation (Orientation, NOT preference) is every bit as big an issue as discrimination based on ethnicity. I'm not white, by the way. I'm Indian. My people had been subjugated and my country exploited by the British until the 1960s. Indians had no rights. In India. I could be forgiven for saying that sexual orientation isn't as big an issue, but it really is. In the end, it is not a question of how the minority in question was wronged, but of civil rights. The bottom line no matter how you look at it is that homosexuals are denied their rights under the constitution. They're not treated as equals by the system. And that has to change. This is in a big way every bit as big as the black civil rights movement of the 1940s to the 1960s, and it's because the entire world, not just the USA, is in a state of transition when it comes to gay rights. Canada is one of the countries that has already completed said transition.

I plan to be [I]extra[/I] gay during June. Though I am a rather bear-ish homosexual male, most people would see the trimming of the sideburns as a pleasant change, not extra homosexual.

They're still among the most hated groups in America, and perhaps they need to have the President tell them that homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism, etc. are all okay before they'll listen
