If anyone recalls in the early days of the civil rights movement, there was a lot of black violence and gang action. I believe we've moved past those stereotypes at least some-what. I don't believe gay liberation is any different.

I thought the 28th or so was already gay pride day? I also thought this was a year old thread bumped up :v: I'm a lesbian but I don't tend to get involved in this stuff really. Mostly because people around me aren't shit about it anyway so there's not really a problem. Occasional friendly tease or whatever, but nothing deliberately insulting thankfully. Basically, straight people don't get a straight pride month not because gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender people think they're better than straight pride people, but because straight people don't need one - straight people have never been made to feel ashamed of their sexuality and so don't need affirmation in the form of a straight pride parade.

The fact still stands that we know you're gay and shit, but just like a fetish, you should flaunt the fuck out of it if you don't want to be made fun of. You do not need a month, and it's just another shitty scheme by Obama that is probably going to get you more generalized than ever.
