I've posted this twice and you apparently haven't noticed it, so I'll make it a bit clearer. :siren: The point of a gay pride month is that pride is the opposite of shame. It lets gay people out there who feel like they're dirty and wrong a message that there's nothing wrong with being gay and allows them to celebrate their difference rather than feel ashamed of it. :siren:
Yeah and everyone likes to see men clad in leather spank their lovers dressed in pink latex mini skirts. That really makes people more tolerant!
Yeah and everyone likes to see men clad in leather spank their lovers dressed in pink latex mini skirts. That really makes people more tolerant!
They should give lectures to women... ...What? Straight people aren't evil all of a sudden...
I don't see straight women spanking someone on the street during daytime when even children can see it. Edit: In a public event, I mean. Maybe someone does this shit on the streets.
You're a disgusting, intolerant fuckface.
Even though i agree, that's kinda ironic.
I smell controversy!

Maybe someone does this shit on the streets.
I agree with you, I dislike this behavior myself, but a gay pride month is not meant to be about this behavior, anymore than black history month is about gangsters and violence. If anyone recalls in the early days of the civil rights movement, there was a lot of black violence and gang action. I believe we've moved past those stereotypes at least some-what. I don't believe gay liberation is any different.
ITT: Everyone should shut up about everything unique about them and just curl into a ball as to appear homogenous with everyone else it's a fucking month you plebes, it's not like obama is sending a gay man to wave his dick in your face. christ.
I thought the 28th or so was already gay pride day? I also thought this was a year old thread bumped up :v: I'm a lesbian but I don't tend to get involved in this stuff really. Mostly because people around me aren't shit about it anyway so there's not really a problem. Occasional friendly tease or whatever, but nothing deliberately insulting thankfully. I don't really understand why Obama has to reiterate this, do Americans suffer from memory loss regarding summers? Also the being idiots about this in general without any sort of foundation is exactly why there are things like this :downs:
Yeah and everyone likes to see men clad in leather spank their lovers dressed in pink latex mini skirts. That really makes people more tolerant!
Why pay attention, watch or attend if it bothers you?
All of this anger towards the pride month really seems to stem from personal insecurity.

I guess I have to be extra gay in June, now.
Sweet my birthday just got a little more relatable
Uhhh... To all the straight pride haters, you're not getting the point. What we are trying to do is make everybody equal. Nowadays, most people think you can't be racist to whites, or sexist to men, or sexualist to straights. Although we are not a minority, the point is equality. If we have a gay month, surely we should have a straight month? I'm not trying to sound Communist, I'm trying to sound be-nice-to-everyone-ist.. [editline]01:25PM[/editline] But the point is we don't need one, but all these people going on about equality- by their rules, we do.

[editline]01:37PM[/editline]
Yeah and everyone likes to see men clad in leather spank their lovers dressed in pink latex mini skirts. That really makes people more tolerant!
Was my point about making people more tolerant? People who are tolerant will recognise that the gay guys who go around naked covered in baby oil and glitter are not representative of gay people as a whole. They're not going to look at a gay pride parade and go "Gosh, I thought gay people were the same as normal people. Clearly I was wrong: all gay men are sex obsessed monsters!" Already intolerant people, however, will simply take this as another point to add to their list of things they dislike about a minority. [editline]01:39PM[/editline]
Uhhh... Basically, straight people don't get a straight pride month not because gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender people think they're better than straight pride people, but because straight people don't need one - straight people have never been made to feel ashamed of their sexuality and so don't need affirmation in the form of a straight pride parade.
The fact still stands that we know you're gay and shit, but just like a fetish, you should flaunt the fuck out of it if you don't want to be made fun of. You do not need a month, and it's just another shitty scheme by Obama that is probably going to get you more generalized than ever.
Being gay ain't a fetish [editline]06:51AM[/editline] BDSM is a fetish [editline]06:51AM[/editline] they are quite different you see
Great now my birthday is gonna be gay.
Being gay ain't a fetish [editline]06:51AM[/editline] BDSM is a fetish [editline]06:51AM[/editline] they are quite different you see
I said it was LIKE a fetish. I did not say it is a fetish. [editline]05:23PM[/editline]
What, and instead be really quiet and not talk about it? Oh yeah, that works really well.
It actually fucking works great. [editline]05:25PM[/editline]
lol thx :keke: Okay three things 1. I don't know of any gays that freak out when girls hit on them, so if we're so equal in your book, why do you freak out when gays hit on you? 2. Yes, yes you do have to be tolerant in a modern society. Intolerant people don't have any place in modern society (I know ironically that makes me intolerant of intolerant people, but you have to draw the meta-line somewhere) 3. The only way you ever get equal rights is by kicking up a fuss. The civil rights bill for black people didn't just happen. Neither did the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Equal rights require attention.
Shitty argument. By the way, you aren't a fucking race and don't deserve to be able to 'kick up a fuss' over something so trivial as a sexual preference.
It actually fucking works great.
Give me an example where a minority group won rights by not doing anything and just being really quiet and unnoticed.
Shitty argument. By the way, you aren't a fucking race and don't deserve to be able to 'kick up a fuss' over something so trivial as a sexual preference.
It's trivial to you because judging by your posts, you're too young to fully understand the implications of sexual orientation. Saying it's trivial make you appear to think we live in a world where sex and relationships are not a big deal, rather than something that nearly everyone spends all their time worrying about. At any rate, feel free to go tell Matthew Shepard that his sexuality is trivial if you want.
Shitty argument. By the way, you aren't a fucking race and don't deserve to be able to 'kick up a fuss' over something so trivial as a sexual preference.
You're a dumb motherfucker. If sexual preference is so trivial, why are people all over the world still getting fucking lynched and imprisoned for being gay?
Shitty argument. By the way, you aren't a fucking race and don't deserve to be able to 'kick up a fuss' over something so trivial as a sexual preference.
Were you born this stupid or did you get that way one day?

You should think realistically, we all understand how it works, but you seem to forget that you are not fighting a war. You are attempting to make something that people feel distant towards and forcing their faces into it.

Eh I have never seen why people have to celebrate their sexuality.

It's not trivial. Even if the parade organisers decided that being gay was a trivial thing and stopped having the parade, far right Conservatives would still make a big deal out of gay people. Once more, I'll post this. I'm not sure how much more obvious I can make this, but I'll try:

They have all the equal rights of everyone else besides that one thing. Everyone should feel comfortable with who they are regardless of other peoples opinions. They shouldn't need a president to dedicate a month to their people. By the way I read what you said the first time. You don't need to reiterate it over and over again.
