This surprises me because I've been caught with weed plenty of times (never more than 2g) and they've always just confiscated it or at worst one time they took me to the police station to lock me up for the night until the sergeant said I was "wasting room in cells" for what I'd done.

Arresting for cannabis is fucking stupid. Arresting people taking up two floors of a house to grow it for profit? Yeah I guess but fuck me. I've grown up around cannabis all my life and the police response here is lax at best if you're a user they don't give a shit they've got ACTUAL CRIMES TO SOLVE.

I got caught with 6 grams last year, I only spent that night in jail and on my second court date my lawyer got the charges dismissed by having me do an "online drug education course". Note that I live in Texas, weed laws are fucked here.
