Well, they just pledged $10 million in aid to Haiti
Because we all know foreign aid works great. Just look at Africa. We've pumped billions into some countries and they're still dirt poor. Here's a tip: they have to try to improve themselves.
then the whole decolonization and human rights stuff
Because the colonization of Africa was definitely evil; it brought technology and civilization. And what human rights stuff? I haven't seen them do anything about genocide in Rwanda or Cambodia.
edit: and peacekeeping. why do you people bother opening your mouths if you don't know anything about what you're talking about, I don't know much about the UN but really now
Peacekeeping does not work. What good is a military force that can't shoot unless it's shot at first? Also, you just contradicted yourself. Why are you opening your mouth if you admit to knowing little about the UN?
Hate to break it to you, but it never was.
Where have you been for the past 70 years?

Don't forget how, when they're protecting areas from genocide (say, a Rwandan village) they aren't allowed to forcibly stop the people with the machetes, only tell them not to enter the village.
Hell, our European History teacher taught us about an incident where Dutch UN Peacekeepers let a bunch of guys with machetes into a village they were meant to protect, since shooting them would violate their rules of engagement.
You forgot some, like Malaysia...

And the US, obviously the poorest one of all time.

I lived in Malaysia for 3 years, it was incredibly beautiful and the people were, surprisingly, really friendly.
Hell, I left Malaysia having a Japanese kid angry at me, and me angry at him. When I went to visit a year later, he literally ran up to me and gave me a huge bear hug.
It's time Dubai learned they are not as awesome as they believe.
Actually Dubai is still awesome .. has always been and will always be.
The United Nations was formed right after World War II. The objective was to never see a World War III, so far it has been successful so stop fucking bashing it.
Why the fuck do you guys think the UN is useless. The humanitarian help they gave people all over the world is so big and countless it can't even be valued.
As soon as there is any catastrophy in the world you see the damn UN Blue-Helmets running around helping people.
I hold them in low regard because while they're good for humanitarian aid, they suck at just about everything else. Including deciding definitively on anything.
If the UN were to simply stop existing tomorrow, I'd say we would be better off.
The US does what they should be doing anyway.
Waging pointless wars?
[editline]12:14AM[/editline]
Kinda what I'm hoping for
the UN is worse than useless
humanitarian aid and peace keeping is EVIL i tells u
for rush limbaugh has told me so
I lived in Dubai for seven years. It's a great city to visit.
yeah, but it's built on blood
[editline]12:19AM[/editline]
Let's get rid of the UN and make that building in to nice apartments.
disrupt humanitarianism for a few apartments
nice
ninja'd :ninja:
Your dad just lost my respect. I can't think of one useful thing the UN has accomplished. (Besides giving tinpot dictators somewhere to be listened to,and that may or may not be useful)
Sudan, Liberia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Prevlaka and numerous others. Rwanda
the spider programme in kenya
UNISEF, multiple humanitarian efforts, etc
Meh, He's a mercenary. Why do I say that in every damn fucking thread about stuff.
I also post this picture:

wow, you are one evil fuck. Humanitarian aid never works? what the fuck is wrong with you? where have you been.
here's a tip: if they're dirt poor... they can't really improve themselves so well, could they?
Because the colonization of Africa was definitely evil; it brought technology and civilization. And what human rights stuff? I haven't seen them do anything about genocide in Rwanda or Cambodia.
Because if something fails a few times, that means the whole thing is flawed
So by this logic, the US army is a flawed as shit system because they aren't known for being an epitome of getting things down.

the Belgians fucked up the rwandan peacekeeping effort, not the UN.
it's not as superficial as that, you tool

why do American's insist on teaching European history if they suck at it
I do agree the Peacekeeping forces rules of engagement have been gutted.

wow what an imperialist bigot. If you really believe that please go back to the 1800s where you belong so we don't have to deal with your kind here in the 21st century.
This is the police cars they use:

I can't even afford a Suzuki Swift from 1994

As the only country to pay the legal maximum percentage of the UN's funding each year, the United States should remain the home. We seriously couldn't give them more funding if we WANTED.

While he fails to understand that Africa has a rich history and sported several advanced civilizations, there is something to be said for European imperialism. In the short term it caused untold numbers of problems, but in the long run it has spread European culture to the point where groups that would otherwise be completely alien to one another have bits and pieces of culture in common. Potentially making for better foreign relations and less warring.
Granted there is no solid evidence to base this on, and again imperialism was largely bad, but what is done is done. There is no point crying over it now. We may as well look at what it did and see how its effects can help us now. The same concept can be applied to most wars.
Oh what a PERFECT idea!! Dubai is such a modern city, they don't tolerate homosexuality or Christianity, and they are in the middle east! The most dangerous geographical area on the planet! Let's send all of our most important ambassadors there!
Fucking...

well it's basic logic that this would happen, what's done is done, but there are other ways of spreading positive influence
But, but, they have a giant shiny skyscraper!!!
