Aside from the atmosphere/ozone, not really. And while this may happen frequently, it usually isn't spewed at earth directly, but in another random direction. This particular instance wasn't super-duper bad, it'll probably just lead to some satellite interference, but this gives a bit of ground to the "Solar EMP" doomsday theory.
It's something called magnetic field
Lot's and lot's of lead. Also, what's with the normal avatar? :frown:
I just decided to have something cute and nice
I just decided to have something cute and nice
Eheheh, do you even know what the source for that avatar is?
-snip wrong thread-
Maybe this could explain why my PC would just turn itself off instantly.
This. Except I later found out it was running at 120c. :ohdear:
So should I seriously consider getting tinfoil and covering my computer(s) in it?
Should I start looting?
C3 class are nothing special or dangerous, we have a magnetosphere for a reason. And the protective screen is called a Faraday Cage.
48 Celsius for me. So...did it pass or...
It is yet to come.

Thread title made me think of this
"NO, I DEMAND YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREE TO THE SOUTH!" "This is the sun, your call."
:I So it will hit while I'm asleep. I bet I'll woke up and go "TURN ON MOTHERFUCKER ! What's wrong ? What did I do ? I blame virus !"
Does this mean I'm going to get a cool northern lights show?
If I turn off my computer and unplugged it and don't turn on any electronic devices would they still work after the CME hits us?
So, should anyone really care?
Facepunch, you guys are smart, so... My laptop and my Wii won't fry, will they? :smith:
Aslong as the earth doesn't hit itself like it did in Knowing, we should be fine, right?
I highly doubt anything will happen. The news would be making a much bigger thing of it if there was even the slightest idea that it will hit us, especially when it's something like this, which could break our way of living as we know it, should it have hit.
Hey, just realised That its today :v: Will anything bad happen? :ohdear:
hot-sauce :tinfoil: This was published yesterday... Should it have "hit" by now?
We live about 8 light minutes from the sun IIRC
eh? what happened now?
So worst case scenario everyone's HDs get wiped?
I highly doubt anything will happen. so are we all going to die or what
so are we all going to die or what
No. Even if you read the source it says that we're not going to be affected physically. Worst case scenario is basically power going out everywhere. And if I read the thread correctly, if your computer is outside and isn't under a cage, the HD can get wiped.
