Is the guy aware of the fact that he still might be required to pay it. Most of all since he actually well said he purposefully threw it out to damage her claim.

I don't care what he did, if you get in a divorce you should not be entitled your (ex) spouse's money, just because you are no longer married. Even more so when they divorced when the WOMAN was cheating, yet she gets a huge chunk of the man's savings anyways just because she's the woman.

You know why people get parts of the money from the other one? For the simple reason that it's shared unless you have prenup. That's kinda the basis of joint ownership of a married couple. Gender doesn't matter at all and both are entitled to roughly 50% of what they own. Very often men decide to have less, because children tend to stay with the mothers but overall you aren't looking at different amounts really much.
