Top Gear audience member claims canned laughter used to cover 'long, awkward silences'

I'm watching it now and both Sabine and Matt are really likeable but I honestly cannot stand Chris. It might be that he's trying to do a Clarkson imitation like some people have suggested but he just isn't fun to listen to IMO

I wonder if Tesla would let them review any of the newer stuff on Grand Tour after that debacle though
when you say grand tour, do you mean unnamed amazon motoring show? grand tour is a shitty name if so
Yeah they decided to call it the grand tour. :\

Heh, I like it. Abbreviating the word Grand Tour gets you GT. They're taking a piss on the new TG. :v:
it wasnt that bad
If you guys think Australian Top Gear is bad, all I can say is that there was a Russian Top Gear. Don't even bother watching it.

Considering the "studio" bits take place in a massive tent in a different country every week, it seems quite fitting to me.

The Grand Tour
TGT
Top Gear Two.
They really should have just rebranded the show, people have too specific of expectations for it.

They did, it's now called "The Grand Tour".
I'm going to be completely honest.
... They fucking suck.
Get back to me when they can top the V8 blender.
Completely forgot about the V8 blender, Didn't Clarkson make a V8 Rocking Chair?
Completely forgot about the V8 blender, Didn't Clarkson make a V8 Rocking Chair?
He did. I can't remember if he did any more V8 experiments, but those were great fun.
I've not watched any of the new series yet as I just forget Top Gear is running all the time, but I expect much like the last run, it'll take time for the hosts to actually settle into it. The first few Top Gear episodes with the classic gang are drastically different to the last due to them just not having quite settled into the role yet.
I'd say give it some time, and hope that the producers tell Evans to do his own thing rather than take on a Clarkson 2.0 role. After a while the old hosts just handled it naturally, these guys aren't at that stage yet.
"oh hey he's doing a Scandinavian Flick!"
*handbrake turn*
cringed so hard at that part

Wont happen, its already known that Evans is fighting with the other presenters and the production team.
No one likes him and he always shouts.
Don't believe me? Listen to him on the radio in the morning, the fucker screams his lungs out.

Yeah, I've heard him before. Never really been a fan of him and when the Beeb first announced him joining TG I was quite "why" about it all. But the other hosts being announced kinda made me wonder if they could fix him.
Though it's not likely. You can always hope...right?

He doesnt deserve the place on the show, since all he has related to cars is the fact that he has a car collection.
Even the hosts from tg us would be better.
The Grand Tour
TGT
Top Gear Two.
Haha, I didn't even notice it went deeper like that. That's hilarious.

Honestly, even just Sabine and Matt would have been better.
I've read some great things about Extra Gear though, the one with that car youtuber, sabine and that other bloke. Apparently it's also got something with cars in it too, which might explain it.

It's basically a low budget Top Gear-lite with some behind-the-scenes stuff, or a slightly more silly Fifth Gear. I personally didn't care much for the two dude presenters but they didn't annoy me like Evans did.
Am I the only one who found not LeBlanc totally irritating? To me it felt like he was trying to grab the spotlight all the time. And he was annoying. Oh and did I mention that he was totally annoying?
Completely obnoxious. He was way too perky to be point of being a detriment to the show. If he didn't act like he was hyped up on caffeine, he might be alright.

I've made no attempt at hiding my dislike of Evans but Evans was sadly he was a logical choice.
He is arguably one of the biggest 'TV celeb' in the UK (if not the biggest), his entire CV is filled with shows where he worked with live studio audiences, interveiwing people and doing all kinds of stupid shit and he loves cars too so he really is there on merit. The fact that he's a polarising charecter doesnt mean shit cause he has a similar kind of pulling power that Clarkson has in the UK, for some unknown reason.
Another important side to this that people overlook, Evans is likely to be one of very few people with the bollocks to even attempt carrying the mantle, Guy Martin for example was my first choice and he said he didnt want the pressure of being on the biggest show in the world let alone taking over from Clarkson.
Also, why the fuck did they make a reliant robin piece where they basically did nothing with them? No flips, no real jabs at them being shit, just reliant robins to relate to the old show.
It'll get cancelled mid season.

They had rollcages, and then why make them open-top?

Should have had Evans drive it.

I can't let you link the V8 rocking chair without the v8 blender.
James' summation of the drink is a pretty good example of peoples reaction to the new Top Gear :v:.
Honestly, the new Top Gear is absolute pants, Chris Evans tries too hard to act like Jeremy Clarkson and Matt Leblanc has little to no personality and talks in a constant drone, not to mention that he isn't that much of a petrol head either. As far as I'm concerned I gave the new Top Gear a chance and it failed miserably. If the BBC are so far up themselves that they won't even listen to their audience when making such decisions then I won't bother.
I watched ep2 last night, it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. They have tried sticking to the same format as closely as possible.
