Flying a new gen aircraft isn't really as hard as you make it out to be. The MD-82 is of course of older generation but fitted with a bunch of new electronics.
Any newer aircraft with a 2 seat cockpit can be flown by one person, no doubt.
The ATPL theoretical training shall be of at least 750 study hours under JAA requirements.
An applicant for an ATPL must have at least 1500 hours of experience and be at least 21 years old.
There's a reason to these 1500 hours. And there's also a reason to the hundreds of pages in the technical manual.
Sure, it's less hard. But that's not your typical idiot that's going to pilot, that's why it requires constant training.
And MD-82s comes from DC-9, which were good planes, but hard to pilot.
A lot of that training is for safety through routine rather than actually knowing how to fly though, isn't it?
Who the fuck writes a virus that fucks with safety measures on aircraft?
So a porn popup appeared and distracted everyone?
A lot of that training is for safety through routine rather than actually knowing how to fly though, isn't it?
Well, the theoretical routine takes 750hours at least, then you can add up some time for every plane you fly on.
The virus wasn't on the planes computer you retards it was the Airlines main computer.
So this is the new MO for terrorists. Instead of sneaking a bomb onto the plane, they just hack the onboard computer.
It would have to be on purpose, an MD-82 wouldn't be running standard Linux or (lol) Windows. It would most likely have a propriety embedded operating system to run the FMS/other computers.
One wonders why they didn't air gap the FMS and the TOWS. In retrospect that seems like a horrible choice, but they might have had their reasons.
I'm guessing they forgot to ARD the FORS in the AT7-B auxiliary HAP8
Glad to see someone else knows what they're talking about here

Get these motherfucking trojans off my motherfucking plane.
I guess they should've used better protection

I don't understand but.
:ohdear:, I do very much so agree with you. Holy toilet paper in a sausage factory.

Someone who should have their hands cut off.

Okay fine, I should have defined the terms, but at least give me MD-82 and air gap, though. MD-82 is an aircraft so isn't jargon, and air gapping of networks (physical separation of critical networks) has a self-explanatory name.
FMS stands for flight management system and is a console like this:

TOWS is just the take off warning system, which indicates if aircraft systems are improperly configured for takeoff.
Going to Hawaii in 2 days :ohdear:
Fucking hell, I hope the bastard who made that virus is feeling some fucking remorse right now. Over a hundred people die for your fucking sick kicks, how does that feel? Having blood on your hands isn't fun, motherfucker.

I spent wayy too much time programming those things in my PMDG 737:sweatdrop:
Worms on a plane. :smug:
Hopefully it's not Norton.
Your flight has been delayed, as several onboard computers are running ridiculously slow.
:siren: The virus was on the companies maintenance computer, not on board any of the systems on the actual aircraft.:siren:
The plane crashed because several issues (likely mechanical) went unchecked. The Plane did not crash because its on-board computers were the victim of a malware attack.

Your flight has been delayed, as the license for Norton Antivirus 2010 has expired. Please choose between the following options.
Renew now (recommended)
Remind me in 1 day
Die a horible, gross death by crashing

That'll teach em never to watch porn on the maintenance computers.
I bet the system had norton.
Terrorist hackers?
because a plane is so easy to pilot
looks like you did that your entire life
These guys are better than you and know how to pilot their plane.
Obviously not, or they would not have crashed.
