Yo dogg the briefest of twitter searches can show you plenty of harassment. Or is every single one of these twitter accounts a false-flag?
And here's the list of people being harrassed by supposed "feminists"
http://imgur.com/a/Iryng
Now tell me on what basis can you say that it's all that gamers are doing and how can you judge everyone who plays video games based on what these people did.
Oh are "gamers" a protected minority now? Is being a "gamer" like being gay or black and I should now be careful not to be be "gamist" when I see awful, vile shit going on on twitter and feel compelled to say "stop doing that shit you creeps." I mean if self-described "gamers" are so great shouldn't they be as upset about this stuff as I am?
I've never criticized 4chan's gaming website. I've never had an unkind word to say about any sincere attempts to reform journalism. I'm just asking anyone who claims to be fair and objective to do a little housekeeping and reserve a fraction of the rage they have at supposed "journalistic nepotism" and direct just a bit of that rage at the people among their own ranks who are using this as an opportunity to get away with saying awful shit to women. Is that too much to ask?
I like it how now that its cool to hate borderlands everyone hates it. Up until #gamergate everyone was sucking its dick.

Yo buddy, you asked me to deliver examples of harassment against women and I provided them.

Except they are directing the rage at their own ranks whenever someone comes in and suggests raiding Zoe?
This happens every. single. time.
Edit:
Yo buddy, you asked me to deliver examples of harassment against women and I provided them.
And that's good, I also provided what I was talking about. I've actually never seen those tweets, and I'm not going to deny that they are real.
I'm going to retract the statement that it's only the gamers that are being harassed now.
Except they are directing the rage at their own ranks whenever someone comes in and suggests raiding Zoe?

It obviously isn't happening enough because women are still getting harassed.

Stop with the stawmen seriously you didn't answer to anything I have actually said. So again, I will use other words so you don't get confused this time.
How can you judge everyone who plays videogames based on the people who made those tweets? Is it okay to say that every muslim is a suicide bomber? ( I can already see the strawman about comparing coming, this is not a comparison of the two but a comparison of generalizing)
On what basis are you making the claim that tweets like that are all what people who don't like the "supposed corruption" are doing?
And I don't like the harassment on either side and if I'll have an opportunity to answer to any of tweets or posts like that I will tell them to shut the fuck up.

Actually reading the #gamergate trend on twitter shows that the vast majority believe the same thing. Most of the harassment that's left is from anti gamergate people.

Because "gamer" is something you choose to identify as. It's not a race, or an orientation, it's not a religious culture you're raised in, it's an identity that you assign to yourself based on your consumption of trivial consumer goods. It's like identifying yourself as someone who prefers coke over pepsi, it's nothing. Anyone who looks at the awful shit that's currently coming from "gamers" and still chooses to call themselves a "gamer" deserves to be called mean words, like "dork" and maybe even "creepazoid."

What's wrong with people creating their own culture?

I think the label of "gamer" is kind of a meaningless term because it encompasses such a HUGE range of people. The term could easily apply to tens of millions of people; We shouldn't let a group of assholes ruin that.
Dangerous thing about the internet is that it is obscenely easy to grab a small subset of *insert group of choice* and use them to generalize everyone associated with it.
This is a man who framed a tweet from Sarkeesian.
This reminds me, Doug Walker (Alias The Nostalgia Critic) did the same thing with a tweet by his favorite critic, Roger Ebert, linking to an episode he enjoyed, which was a tribute by the Nostalgia Critic to the Movie Critic show Siskel and Ebert.

Honestly it's more cute when Doug did it. Burch framing Anita's tweets is like framing your first gold star you got from your Kindergarten teacher.
What's wrong with people creating their own culture?
But it's not a culture. Fighting games is a culture. Starcraft has it's own culture. What do people who play 50 hours worth of DOTA 2 each week magically have in common with people who play GTA every once-in-a-while? Calling yourself a gamer is like calling yourself a "television fan". Put someone who watches storage wars and duck dynasty in a room with a guy who watches HBO dramas and they're not going to have anything to talk about. "Gamer" is just a weird, insubstantial consumerist label you stick to yourself. It's 2014, everyone plays video games nowadays. That's not an identity anymore. So I don't feel bad when I say something like "gamers r dorks" on my twitter account because the only people left who call themselves "gamers" are, well, dorks who have clung to an outdated label that should have died alongside G4 years ago.

better to be honest, it's a little bit more of an achievement to have Robert Ebert acknowledge something you did, as he is one of the most famous movie credits of all time.
lmao the antagonistic shit this dude writes is something I'd expect to find on SRS.
Anyone who looks at the awful shit that's currently coming from "feminists" and still chooses to call themselves a "feminist" deserves to be called mean words, like "bitch" and maybe even "feminazi."
it's amazing how you are literally the spitting image of the people you claim to hate, with the only difference being your choice of terminology.
honestly, it's getting kind of bizarre

Social media stuff aside, the New-U/Borderlands 2 plot 4chan post is pretty well written but the entire theory is scuttled by the fact that New-U stations were never actually confirmed canon. In both Borderlands 1 and 2 they are readily mentioned in the games context but Burch said they weren't canon in the second game. This doesn't explicitly mean they weren't canon in BL1 but its implied. The General Knoxx ending is the lone exception to the rule but bear in mind that the DLC isn't necessarily developed by the same team that made the original game.
Again, it's a well written story modification and the person who posted it is very articulate. I don't actually have any criticisms against it. But it doesn't change the fact that New-U stations actually aren't canon, which sadly torpedoes the entire idea.

well, then what is someone who obsess over multiple types of games called? What kind of culture do they fit into?

Gamer is a person who plays video games. That's it. You can't just make up new meaning for existing words.

There is no specific term for people who listen to all kinds of music or someone who watches all kinds of movies, I don't see why video games need one. The term "gamer" just has a lot of nasty baggage.

isn't there a time for people who really enjoy books and read them all the time? Bibliophiles? there's a term like that for every form of media, and each of them have their own cultures and communities of people who just enjoy the fun of books and games and movies bring. What is your right to say that these cultures aren't as important as every other one?

hey, whatever you think justifies your petty insults and juvenile behavior
I mean yeah insults are bad but you're right they really do deserve it. It's their fault, not yours. You couldn't help but paint them all as useless wastes of flesh who deserve to be shunned. I mean that sentiment has never negatively affected innocent people before, naw.
their insults are bad, but yours are okay because you're progressive and right and being toxic is okay if you're progressive and right.
