I think Starcraft hit the spot when it comes to Exoskeleton design.

Infantry is so 19th century...
Apparently there's a suggestion line for the TALOS team.

It kind of is though.
Guys, please.
Come on.
All this talk about what armor looks cooler or is better is meaningless if our brave men and women don't have cup holders in these suits.
I wan't some slick elegant exosuit ...
something what allows me do parkour and not worry what happens if I slip ;)

any exosuit that would protect you if you slipped from a height or onto concrete would probably destroy whatever surfaces you intended to parkour on
How long before we get robotic Endoskeletons
and saw blades for hands

I thought the power armour in Fallout looked pretty good.

let's not forget the glowing red eyes
I kinda imagine it to look like the exo suits of edge of tomorrow. I felt it looked pretty real.

Nah, he parkours in the "Everything is Made of Titanium" neighborhood.
One guy made a bulletproof body armor a while back;

I remember that, that was called the Trojan armor that was basically to fight off grizzly bears. The creator said that no one wanted to mass produce it or something like that.

I like it when stuff like this gets military contracts mainly because the military is ridiculously over funded and the applications this kind of stuff be used for in civilian life ie people with disabilities or construction or whatever would be fucking awesome
This shit will probably be really clunky when it first comes out but imagine how it will evolve in 10, 20, 40 maybe 50 years.

Robotic bones? Not sure why you would want that.

Well, yeah.
Any footsoldier in any army will often complain when their equipment load is made heavier because they carry enough already, and on top of that, that suit looks hot in hot environments no matter how well ventilated it is.
You pretty much diminish the combat-effective range of a foot soldier by making them carry that heavy amount of armor, not to mention situational awareness and endurance. An exosuit would take that to the extreme by the fact that if you severed its supporting elements you have a very expensive deadweight.
[editline]f[/editline]
Not to mention that thing would struggle to offer protection against IEDs and landmines and make you more liable to be hit by them.

You know a massive portion of the budget is for silly things like, I don't know, salaries, insurance, heating, cooling, fuel, food, medical supplies, ect, and not just in the us, a lot of European countries depend on us logistical support. I'm not arguing against dismantling a few hundred of however many bases we have across the world, but people act like the budget only includes weapons and armor.

I would laugh a bit too.
Imagine if you had to tell the nation with a serious face that we are now making Anti-gravity ships straight up. Just using them for stuff now.
You're really underestimating science. We've done incredible things in just 100 years. From slow locomotive trains we've gone to highly manoeuvrable supersonic jets. From simple lever action rifles we've gone to fully automatic weapons capable of unbelievable fire rates. We've treated diseases that were a death sentence. A lot can happen in even just 20 years. Take a look at something more personal. Did you have a phone capable of starting a high quality video conversation with anyone in the world on demand, wherever you are, 20 years ago?
Indeed. I'm pretty sure that scientific R&D works somewhat like an exponential function. What humanity managed to accomplish in 80 years, could now be done in 30-40. The more developed we become as a society, the faster we develop better things.
still no announcement from POTUS about "we gunna test warp drive next weekend" ;)
Have we known about this for some time? I could have SWORN I remember Facepunch flipping out about how cool TALOS was to call an actual military thing, a large portion of the posters thinking Oblivion/Skyrim made it up.
Reminds me of the lore behind the early Mjolnir suits in the Halo universe. The early ones were essentially complete shit and ran on giant cables that were towed across battlefields by trucks that generated power with enormous diesel engines that made perfect targets. It had like 3 minutes of battery life outside of those or something.

Don't forget the even earlier ones that broke all your bones if you tried to move in them.

That was just because they couldn't handle the sanic speed like the spartans could.
So how many spines do you think they'll break and have videos leaked infront of the whole defence management by some billionaire, playboy, genius, philanthropist.
