Why do people buy gaming laptops? Who actually needs to go somewhere to play video games? For $2,500 I can purchase a desktop setup at least twice as powerful.
For people who go to peoples houses a lot and don't want to lug around their desktop computer. Only now I want a desktop PC because I don't do that much anymore. But for 4 years or so I was glad I had a gaming capable laptop.
that wasnt at 3200x1800 though
Why does everyone think that this is some huge problem it won't run games at extreme setting with the native resolution? Who really expects it to in the first place? There's a thing on computers that allows you to change your resolution if you didn't know. I'm am far more than happy playing older games on high settings with a near 4k resolution and new games with high settings on a 1080 resolution. What's the big deal? For the size and weight, and the fact that it's a laptop I don't see what's wrong at all? I mostly want the 4k for pictures and videos anyways. Not to mention it's a great show piece anywhere you go. When you can take your 4k res super high settings desktop computers more than 20 feet without having to dick around with cables and turn the thing off then let me know. But until then I think this is a great laptop, at least from my current laptop owning standards.
I hate touchscreen laptops. If you already have a touchpad and/or mouse, just use that. You shouldn't have to resort to scratching and smudging your laptop screen in an extremely cumbersome manner.

Only downside is laptop parts are usually truncated versions of the desktop parts and you can't upgrade a lot of it. Using a touchscreen is sooooooo much quicker and smoother than relying on the trackpad for most things. And the likelyhood of you scratching your screen is probably less common than being struck by lightning unless your fingers are made of sand Now a mouse beats both but why would I bring a mouse everywhere I'm using my laptop at?
is it called the razor blade because if you move your fingers while typing you might slice them off
I actually like touchscreen laptops. My gf sister has one and it was really nice to use. Buuuuuut the finger prints was a problem
As a photographer I would absolutely love resolution like that holy crap
As a photographer I would absolutely love resolution like that holy crap
Send me any high era photos you might have saved that would be cool to look at? That would be awesome, I'm excited to hit google images right when the laptop gets here.
seriously though hooking up a desktop at a lan party is like what, four cables? power, monitor, keyboard, mouse? maybe headset? what am i missing because unless you're a total shitheel and can't plug square peg into square hole, there's zero issue and if you're worried about blackouts just use a UPS or don't all plug into outlets that use the same fuse [editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] having not enough space is still a totally legitimate use for this, but ease of LAN party use? total bullshit lmao
The resolution is just going to butcher the battery life though. Also most of the money will probably be spent at the display than the internals, so you would have better gaming performances plus battery life with other gaming laptops. [editline]23rd March 2014[/editline] You will not be able to run any semi-recent title decently on native resolution with whatever graphics card that laptop has.
far from butchers the battery life on the latest rMBP (9 hours on regular load). but that's under OS X, and designed by apple. windows is bound to be a different situation this laptop is kinda cool but i'd rather split the cash and build a more powerful desktop and buy an entry level rMBP [editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] also i find the most annoying thing about bring your desktop to a lan isn't setting it up there, it's setting it up at home again the way it was. i love my laptop for this sole reason. i can play CS:GO lan parties easily with literally no hassle also, laptops are FAR more energy efficient. better if you're going to be sucking power out of a wall that isn't yours
Why do people buy gaming laptops? Who actually needs to go somewhere to play video games? For $2,500 I can purchase a desktop setup at least twice as powerful.
I bought a Gigabyte laptop because my parents are divorced and I go between their houses on a daily/weekly basis. There are a lot of people with legitimate reasons to need a gaming laptop.
Why do people buy gaming laptops? Who actually needs to go somewhere to play video games? And I really don't want to have to lug over an entire desktop just to get in a few rounds of Payday. I have an Asus G73JH which I bought off my brother for half price, and it'll do me right for a few more years. As long as it can still run Arkham games, I'll be fine.

It's not a big deal if people pay for convenience.
Not everyone has the ability to get a desktop to a LAN anyway, try taking a Desktop (even Mini ITX), monitor, keyboard, and mouse on the back of a push bike. It's not going to happen.
i don't know about others, but i once stayed 2+ months inside a hospital with 2 fucking tubes draining blood from my lungs, having a laptop capable of gaming to pass the time was pretty good(though i agree that this laptop is waaaaay too expensive). i spent a good time of those 2 months playing dota 1 :v:
So basically we have to put all gaming laptop owners in the hospital to save them from feeling as though they had wasted their money? I like this idea.
I take my laptop over to friends houses to play games. Payday 2, Starcraft 2, Etc.
Why would you come over to a friend's house to play games if you can play them with him/her from home?
Because I'm not antisocial
That's what vehicular transport is for.
Not everyone has access to a car.
Why do people buy gaming laptops? Who actually needs to go somewhere to play video games? For $2,500 I can purchase a desktop setup at least twice as powerful.
If you're required to travel a lot for a year and still want a powerful computer it's pretty nice.
Because I'm not antisocial
You're not antisocial if you spend time online with your IRL friends. Being in close proximity with someone does not make you more 'social'. Do things you can do only together together, and things you can do apart apart. Social interactions occur both online and offline.
Not everyone has access to a car.
Public transport should serve nicely in that situation. It appears as though most of you are making excuses to use a 'gaming laptop' rather than having legitimate, undeniable reasons for using one. The way I see it, only Jawalt has an understandable reason for owning a gaming laptop. Most people I know that own gaming laptops are only using them because they think they need to, when in fact they actually don't. I was referring to those individuals.
And what about, say half the people in my flat at Uni who come from other countries? They can't take an entire desktop setup back and forth on the plane 4 times a year. Gaming laptops suit them perfectly.
You're not antisocial if you spend time online with your IRL friends. Being in close proximity with someone does not make you more 'social'.
Public transport should serve nicely in that situation.
Yes and you look like a right cunt taking a full desktop setup on a bus or train.
understandable reason for owning a gaming laptop.
Because I wanna own a fuckin' laptop 'Cause I wanna take it to my friends house and play games 'Cause I can carry it on my motorcycle 'Cause I can take it to work and school Because I carry all my Pathfinder PDF's on there and it's a lot easier to use than a desktop during play Because before I had my gym membership I would put my laptop on the edge of my couch and use Insanity DVD's, 'cause I didn't have a TV at the time Because I wanted a fuckin' laptop, dude. I shouldn't need a "reason" to own one. I just do. Get off your high horse.
Fucking scrub get a real desktop dude you're not a REAL gamer unless your tower is at least two meters high.
Good for you guys if you actually use your laptops. A dude I know has five fucking laptops where he lives with his family, three of them have high-end nvidia gpus. Best part? He never takes them anywhere.

The desktop machine does not. I have three laptops, my current one and my two previous machines. The two older ones live in desk drawers and are pulled out to function as lite servers and backups when I need them. Desktops machines are oversized space-wasters. If you want one, good for you, I'm not going to tell you you don't have a legitimate reason to own one because that's fucking stupid. But I can get the same power as a mid to high end gaming desktop in a portable machine that runs off a battery, and I will.
come on razer still using mobile cpu sockets?
What the fuck is your problem
Whoa dude.
You don't "need" a computer at all.
Good for you guys if you actually use your laptops. A dude I know has five fucking laptops where he lives with his family, three of them have high-end nvidia gpus. I think you guys are blowing my argument way out of proportion here. I reported you all to the authorities.
god damn the razer circlejerk it seems like people have a difficult time comprehending the fact that one might want a powerful desktop and a powerful laptop at the same time, and the new razer blade is one of the first windows laptops to have power and not be crippled by any significant flaws in its construction so it fits all the roles of being portable while not compromising on performance personally I already own two gaming desktops but my other two laptops are a bit lacking in the build quality department so I'd consider getting a mBP or one of these in the future to have something nice to tote around
[editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] This will surely strengthen my argument. Desktop master race!!!!!! This laptop scum will never dare to cross me again.
