• Microsoft reportedly installing Windows 10 without consent -- again
There is no reason to not move over to Windows 10.
The simply fact there is no advantage to me in doing so is reason enough. I mean, why exactly would I spend the time getting things reconfigured--because it's doubtful the upgrade process would work perfectly for all of the tools I use--and take the risk, however small, that Windows 10 simply won't work due to some random incompatibility when I gain absolutely nothing from it, sans getting rid of their Windows 10 ad that pops up every day? I'll install Windows 10 when I'm ready, which for me is when I build a new computer in a few years.
There is no reason to not move over to Windows 10.
excuse me, I don't have 3-10 hours left to spare because I actually need to work on my computer the very likely possibility of the update breaking and me either losing data and/or completely fucking up my computer makes this a certain "No" that and Microsoft's incredible effort of trying to shove W10 down everyone's throats just makes me want to spite them
There is no reason to not move over to Windows 10.
The fact people DONT WANT TO is reason enough. Microsoft needs to fucking get over themselves. Anyone that WANTED Windows 10 likely has it now. So they need to back the fuck off.
excuse me, I don't have 3-10 hours left to spare because I actually need to work on my computer
Do you sleep? I left my computer to upgrade overnight. Woke up and it needed maybe 20 minutes to prepare my files and I was good to go.
Here are things in windows 10 that made me regret it a bit. -GTA:SA not able to be installed from disk. Had to install and refund on steam for it. -My G930 headset fucking up a lot in the first 5 weeks. Eventually this was fixed. -The super nanny OS didn't want to let me open windows defender control panel to re enable windows defender when I uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I had to install Avira as a result otherwise I don't have an antivirus. -The start screen that shows up when you bring the computer out of sleep mode is fucked up. You have to click and drag it up unlike at startup when you can just click it/press a key. -Processes like cortana couldn't be removed conventionally and were idling in the BG until I got Destroy Windows Spying. -The initial installer installed a fuckton of metro apps even when I said "do not install these applications" -Sponsored ad articles in the start menu when you delete a search string completely, they distracted me and made me forget what I was searching for. -Skype and other apps you have installed will show up as Windows Store install buttons instead of apps, even when you already have them installed. -Windows search isn't any better than before, the same old windows core that considers files >128mb to be 'gigantic' is still running the show, it's hard not using a microsoft account to log in. -If I upgrade my motherboard I might have to buy windows again. Overall I appreciate and recommend it but it's not a mandatory upgrade. For reference I wanted and jumped on W10 as soon as it was released.
I think the dedication for people NOT to move to Win10 is even funnier.
The W10 update killed my mom's laptop so I'm not very keen on doing it on my PC either. Or well, killed is a bit of a hyperbole maybe but it basically became a brick until I reinstalled it with an older version of windows.
I too have a few niggles with W10 that I didn't have with 7...Not enough to make me want to go back, but I have to say on the whole and whole it feels exactly the same as W7 only some small things about it are slightly worse. This is kinda crappy though, had a few of my friends complaining about it this week; that they were sitting watching Netflix or popped afk or something and when they came back their PC was trying to install W10.
Gonna assume it's also just like last time and it's just scaremongering. I have my automatic updates completely enabled since forever and I am yet to wake up to Win10 being installed.
Deleted the contents of the folder where windows downloads the upgrade, set it read only, THEN took ownership of the folder. System can't even start the download without me allowing it on my aunts computer.
I've had Windows 7, 8.1, and now 10. Compatability wise, the same hardware I have is compatable with 10. Software, I still have compatability issues that were present in 7 for classic games. No new issues present. The UI; Though I love the XP and 7 style UI, 10 feels like an improvement. Spying; From what I understand, it's simple data collection unrelated to highly private things. Not stealing files, monitoring, etc. There are reasons to dislike it, but not enough to avoid the OS. Automatic installation; if this article is correct, it's a recommended update, NOT a forced update. Meaning, you opted to recieve this update, along with all other recommended updates. I've had great luck with 10. It has a lot of improvements over 7 that I like. I can understand the hate if you personally have had compatability issues, though there's no other reason to hate it.
I think the dedication for people NOT to move to Win10 is even funnier.
My Oculus driver didn't work on W10 before so I had to swap back and now I'm too lazy to go to W10 :v:
Microsoft's doing a real good job showing just how sleazy they are, this is Grade-A shitty behavior that honestly doesn't even need to be done if Windows 10 was actually that good (and if it was good, why are they so desperate to push it?)
because windows 7 was superior to XP in every way and yet people used XP forever
1. The shitty incompatiblities happening and breaking computers.

When I tried to install windows 10 last time it nearly fried my shitty hard drive.

I'm fairly certain it did actually kill one of my hard drives, it failed to boot one day after an update.\

If you don't mind broken hardware/software

because it killed a wi-fi adapter driver (which ended up damaging the whole component.)
I can't help but feel that there's more to these cases of damaged hardware than a simple Operating System upgrade.
there's hardly any incompatibilities with windows 10, if it runs on 7 or 8, it 90% should run on 10 the NSA will not be interested in your hentai collection, you can sleep at ease knowing an agent isn't interested in you there's hardly any "ad-ware", you can turn off suggested apps and you can turn off windows spotlight, anything that you see you don't like can be turned off if you, after all this shit still find 10 intolerable, you can rollback at anytime the only reason really why you shouldn't upgrade is if your computer's hardware is as old as a piece of shit or your on a connection that has a quota less than 10-20gb
I'd seriously consider moving to Linux if it wasn't for the fact I would lose the ability to play most if not all of my steam library.
so the source is a couple of reddit users?
-If I upgrade my motherboard I might have to buy windows again.
you can just call up microsoft you know and get your copy reactivated telling them you upgraded your motherboard
so the source is a couple of reddit users?
i can confirm this is an actual thing. my dads computer randomly started installing it while we were out at the store. this is what we came back to [t]http://i.imgur.com/mfEPU8z.jpg[/t]

You have to close the window to cancel, and to me it seems this happens primarily to the older population, which is kinda weird. I haven't seen compelling evidence that this happens completely unprovoked, and personally I think it appears way too random. If Microsoft is literally forcing the upgrade on people, why are they doing it so slowly and so randomly? It makes no sense.

When W10 was new hardly any programs had been updated for it and many parts of the OS itself were clunky.
the NSA will not be interested in your hentai collection, you can sleep at ease knowing an agent isn't interested in you
This is a completely retarded and irrelevant argument. Whether they're interested in what we have on our computers or not is not the issue. The issue is it's a PRIVATE computer. Meaning they have no reason to have any access to it at all without a warrant.
To be entirely fair, it's a Microsoft product, and if they want to push an update, they can. People are only mad because of the illusion of choice they give you.
My computer just shut itself off, while I was actively using it, and started installing Windows 10 nnnniiiicccceeee [editline]March 2016[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Vzp9k5kh.jpg[/t] yeah it's alright, I didn't lose that much progress anyway thx microsoft
Does the pc auto-update to 10 if I have Windows update off?
Time to install Linux, Microsoft is a threat to gaming and the freedom to do whatever you want with your system.
Time to install Linux, Microsoft is a threat to gaming and the freedom to do whatever you want with your system.
hah too bad if I switched to linux I lose most of my gaming collection
If you ever want to upgrade your processor, you're going to have to use windows 10 as well. If your daily use is web browsing and gaming, you lose nothing in upgrading. Or if you want to stay on 7, you could reinstall windows 7 and turn off updates once the Service Pack is installed. Or even reinstall XP. That one never had this update bullshit. Fuck, go back to 98SE! I bet you'd never have an issue with viruses.
If this is as true as people are making it out to be, its pretty dumb but I still think people should update.

lol 2 late microshit I did it myself It really is a nice OS. I tried 8.1 and almost liked it, but I can see myself using 10 for a very long time
Oh boy can't wait for another 70 page argument thread where we end up at the same conclusion.
They literally not have to force people to get Windows 10 and there wouldn't be a problem.
