This seems like a winning-the-battle-while-surrendering-the-war kind of strategy that hinges on winning the argument
How is that "surrendering the war"? If it shows that the guy lied about the rat, it doesn't mean that "there are rats, they're just dissolved".
Reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons where Lisa tries to dissolve her tooth in soda.
But its true, most soda is like drinking battery acid. I don't understand why anyone drinks that crap anyways. People Keep quoting me saying that it tastes "good". I enjoyed drinking it 2 years ago before I stopped, then I looked at the sugar contents of most carbonated drinks and also what it does to your body. Stopping is very good for your health, you should look into it.
I drink it because I'm able to maintain a figure while enjoying a drink, unlike some people. And battery acid is dilute sulphuric acid, which would kill you if you drank 250 ml of it (this doesn't happen with soda).
I think it should probably be noted, just because you leave a rat in a can of a carbonated liquid for however long it takes for said drink to go from factory to wholesaler to shelf and this rat dissolves, that doesn't mean you'll acquire any ill effects (of this sort) yourself from drinking this beverage, even above the recommended amount. It's all very well to romanticize that big corporations are out to kill you with their toxic products but when you look at the cold evidence; it's more complicated than that.
Finally something to dissolve all the mouse carcasses i have lying around.
Finally something to dissolve all the mouse carcasses i have lying around.
who is this imposter!?
I stopped drinking Mt Dew after that first article of the harm it can cause, now I'm probably going to lay off it forever and restrict my drinking of other soft drinks.
you're concentrated sulfuric acid
Damn! How did they know?
This reminded me that I haven't had a mountain dew for about a year and that I should probably buy one tomorrow. This tastes better though.
Mmm. Dissolved mouse. I still drink Mountain Dew/Pepsi because it tastes good.
Potatoes contain phosphoric acid, that's how you can use one as a battery. source: http://www.physlink.com/education/askexperts/ae516.cfm What harm can a little phosphoric acid do to you?
Huh. I drink sodas all the time, and i don't have lung cancer, difficulty breathing, yellow nails or the other things cigarettes give. Perhaps next time stop spewing shit from your keyboard. And what the fuck is wrong with Red meat? If i eat some fucking steak will my lungs give up and collapse?
According to wikipedia, health risks of red meat include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and a bunch of cancers and other health issues. So what the fuck is wrong with tobacco? If I have a fucking cigarette will I gain 100 pounds and have a heart attack? Don't be ignorant, and realize it's not so black an white. Health problems due to unhealthy diets can develop without you being obese or even overweight. People smoke all there lives without getting cancer. And vice versa. You can argue that x amount of either is better than y amount of the other, but get of your high horse and stop only hearing what you want to hear.
I can regularly go through an entire 24-pack of Coca-Cola by myself in about a day if I really wanted to. Also tobacco usage endangers others. In regards to red meat, everything should be taken in moderation, it's important to eat a balanced diet.
Tobacco is addictive, and that's where much of its danger lies. In regards to red meat, everything should be taken in moderation, it's important to eat a balanced diet.
So is caffeine... Addiction has two parts. Mental and chemical. You can become addicted to anything. If there are no chemicals in red meat that cause addiction that doesn't mean an individual will not be addicted to it. If you have a memory of you and your dad out at the grill cooking a steak and that was your best memory you ever had about your dad, that could lead to an addiction. Every time you see a steak or want a steak your body will release chemicals to put you in a good mood because you remember your dad. Congratulations. Welcome to addiction.
So I could use it to dispose of a body?

Tobacco, with its crippling addictivity and its lethal ill-effects, will easily be much more dangerous and harder to overcome.
I understand what you are getting at. But be careful with that statement. It doesn't mean that it is harder to overcome.
I think the worst part... is that I was drinking out of a Mountain Dew bottle when I saw this thread title. I don't know if I want to finish it now....
I think the worst part... is that I was drinking out of a Mountain Dew bottle when I saw this thread title. I don't know if I want to finish it now....
I've finished 4 since I've read it. Won't hurt you. If there have been mice in it all along you've been enjoying them, why stop now.
Now what will Pepsi dissolve? This doesn't make me want to drink either.
Welp, I mistook "Mouse" for "Moose". Freaked me out for a few seconds.
I'll be sure not to soak my teeth in mountain dew for hours straight from now on.
Did I miss sarcasm here? Or do you really think Milk is a strong base? Also, milk + soda = kidney stones possibly. Not saying it does, but when you mix the CO2 with your water you are generating some carbonic acid (H2CO3) and when drinking milk you are providing the body with Calcium. When you mix H2CO3 with this calcium you generate CaCO3 (or have potential to generate this, I won't get into the activity and what not of everything, its a bit above this topic) CaCO3 is Calcium Carbonate or limestone, basically kidney stone. So if you drink a lot of pop and ingest a lot of calcium. Be careful.
H2CO3 is really unstable. It's why the vinegar and baking soda thing generates bubbles. You're actually producing H2CO3 through a metathesis reaction, but the H2CO3 is so unstable that it decomposes inmediatly. It can take decades for calcium to start reacting with the CO2 dissolved in water. Also, although I'm unsure in what form the calcium in milk is, I dont think it'd react with much. Not to mention calcium carbonate is the main "contaminant" of drinking water, and nobody actually gets kidney stones from water. Also, to the guy you quoted... milk a strong base, what? If anything it's acidic because milk is just colloidal mess of lipids.

Also, the fact that H2CO3 and Calcium are present together, could create the CaCO3 and actually it does. You get a solid precipitate. Also, milk is slightly acidic. After some time of sitting there you start to form Lactic Acid, which SURPRISE is acidic.
