You know if his son doesn't lay off the big macs he will be soon dead as well.
McDondalds exists in NK?
I bet you my two balls that they would cry and mourn over Kim Jong Il like what they did with Kim Il Sung
I hope whoever takes charge doesn't reverse the recent decision to allow American tourists into the country. When I put together the funds, I really want to travel to North Korea.
That'll be one looooooooong vacation
McDondalds exists in NK?
No, Kim Jong-il invented the double bread and meat, or as Americans call it, the hamburger.
He also invented the cesspool water of American capitalism, which you call cola.
I bet you my two balls that they would cry and mourn over Kim Jong Il like what they did with Kim Il Sung
Because if they don't show support for the leadership they get a one way ticket to a concentration camp.
Wow
I'll miss the pictures of him looking at things
For those who do not know, there is really heavy conflict int he NK government between the military and the state. Il tried to kind of bridge this by putting his son under the guidance of his highest generals, but if anything were to happen it would be now. The military is itching to instigate war on the south, and the state has been pulling the opposite direction. Un is somewhat westernized but definitely under-matured for this position, and the military leadership absolutely despised him for it. I'm really curious to see what will happen.
I find it strange that he died from overwork, though. he had cancer and wasn't the healthiest, but what kind of work does he actually do?
And I thought he'd go down wrestling bears while firing a machine gun into some heartless capitalist pigs!
[sp]I wouldn't be surprised if NK tries to claim that's what happened[/sp]
To be honest I was expecting Kimmy to die in a showdown basketball match with Obama.
His cause of death would be slam-dunking too hard and catching himself on fire or something.

hdisfida that game had the most retarded storyline.
Oh, shit. Well, best of luck to North Korea. Like everyone else, I definitely did not expect this.
Didn't he try to make people believe he was born atop some great mountain and was invincible?
I think i may of also heard that he was born in Russia during WW2 or something
They actually don't do that, the North Korean propaganda bureau tries to show the rest of the world that the people really care about their leader by using actors.
Yes and no. A Nat Geo documentary on NK, where they snuck the cameras in and at times snuck away form the guided tour, showed that there were people who genuinely loved the dear leader. The state has lead them to believe that they have it good compared to the rest of the world, and that their problems are due to the US and their benefits are due to the dear leader and great leader. They truly do have some 1984 shit, where they are brainwashed into loving the dear leader. Only those in the military really ever know the truth and only those in the military ever really try and succeed at escaping the nation.
That'll be one looooooooong vacation
Nah, I really doubt they'd open the country up to American tourists then one day decide to "detain" one. Now though, with the poltiical climate unstable....
Isn't he also dead?
No, just sick.
I don't think I've seen a thread grow this fast before. I feel late just finding out about it when this has eight pages, yet I'm really not that late.

Call it a bad game if you will, the story gets more likely every day.

I once saw a documentery (think it was by Lisa Ling) that followed a group of doctors entering the country on humanitarian grounds to perform cataract surgery on people who'd gotten cataracts so bad that they went blind (evidently that's very common in third-world countries where healthcare isn't readily available, because here it's a very mild and treatable condition).
The moment the people could see again, (some of them had been completely blind for years) tears streamed down their eyes and they were overcome with joy, happiness, and thankfulness. For the doctors? pfft, no. Every last one of them looked around the room, ran over to a corner with the shrine of Kim Il-sung, and thanked him for sending the doctors and restoring their vision.
Seriously they were overcome with happiness because they could see the pictures of Kim Il-sung again.

I fear that what it says could be almost true, fuck they nearly had it on the money with his death.

The military is /not/ "itching to instigate war" on the South. This is merely more Western/EU propaganda.. It isn't like Kim Jong Il's son was announced out of the blue. Kim Jon Il had health-issues, Kim was not a fool, and knew his time here wasn't for too many more years. The Militaric leadership didn't approve, nor disapprove of Kim Jong Il's son. They will be acting most likely as his advisors, as well as a Political Administration to guide him. He isn't alone in leading the country. One must have a certain influence and charisma in order to lead.
I bet you my two balls that they would cry and mourn over Kim Jong Il like what they did with Kim Il Sung
They were loyal and loved Kim Jong Il as a Father. North Korea's culture is rather different from the West. Alot of North Korea's Citizens looked to Kim Jong Il during the famine for guidance, during the low agricultural era and during the shortages and sanctions that the U.S directed over North Korea. Kim Jong Il managed to guide the country out of the great famine.
I hope whoever takes charge doesn't reverse the recent decision to allow American tourists into the country. When I put together the funds, I really want to travel to North Korea.
The policies will most likely remain the same. I really doubt that North Korea will cease allowing western tourists into the country.
They actually don't do that, the North Korean propaganda bureau tries to show the rest of the world that the people really care about their leader by using actors.
They actually do mourn for their leader. It isn't all smoke and glass mirrors in North Korea. The population cried, mourned and were saddened when Kim's father died. They didn't hire 400,000 to 3,000,000 Citizens as actors.
I think i may of also heard that he was born in Russia during WW2 or something
Kim was born in Russia according to Soviet-Records, and was born under a different name. But it's really up to speculation.. Kim really hasn't confirmed earthier for us.
We should attack while they're mourning.
Such is the typical mentality in the West, always seeking opportunities to invade a foreign land that isn't yours in the name of "democracy".
@Spess
Yeah I remember that, the doctors seem to be surprised.
