I didn't know a permanent HOV lanes existed anywhere. Where are those at? I've driven through most major southern cities (except Florida), and a few of the major cities in the Mid-West and central parts of the US, so they must be in the West or North-East.
Along the I-5 corridor they're REALLY common. Especially in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle, Portland, et cetera all have permanent HOV lanes. And they all have problems like this. I know around Seattle a guy was caught with his dog in the passenger seat wearing a ten gallon hat. Another guy had a blow up sex doll wearing a pajamas and a Guy Fawkes mask. It is really ridiculous the lengths people will go to so they can drive in the carpool lane.
You can actually get in trouble for doing this? Shit I wanted to try it just for laughs.
On long island fucking car pool lanes are weird, like you have to follow the speed limit on them still and have a second passenger. I saw some car that had one guy in it drive about 5 miles then just get off. You can't fucking leave the thing when you want to anyway theirs certain points you can leave the car pool lane and enter it which is retarded cause i swear you could miss exits cause of that.
its weird to have to obey the speed limit?
Yeah, here in Atlanta I know the HOV lanes are 24/7

They are in Atlanta
I drive through Atlanta on occasion, but I guess I've just missed those. I'll have to try and find them next time I go through there.
Police should take a more sternum attitude to this kind of thing.
people go to desperate lengths to dodge traffic..
How about doing something like, getting another fucking passenger who's going to the same place as you?
isn't this the second times someone been caught doing that in washington state lol
WHAT IF THE SKELETON IS REAL
Dude next time just use a homeless guy.
What's the point of a carpool lane anyway? Why not just open it for all to ease traffic?
I guess he needs to bone up on breaking the law. [editline]8th January 2012[/editline] He really got stiffed on that one.
What's the point of a carpool lane anyway? Why not just open it for all to ease traffic?
To incentivize people to carpool, thus less road congestion and pollution.
I live in Southern California, and finding out that a lot of people have never even HEARD of carpool lanes is a major surprise to me...pretty common here.
Most of the ones I see in the greater Sacramento area are all 24/7.
