The factor of safety these things were built with is pretty large, meaning they're several times stronger than they'll ever need to be.
There's probably not much an ordinary human could do to cause any damage, at least not without some serious mechanical assistance.

I'm pretty sure everyone is afraid of heights. Some people just seem to be able to deal with that fear a bit better.
