My ISP released a statement saying nothing will change. My faith is restored
Could they be sued if they actually do throttle or prioritize traffic? edit:
Most boards are either becoming or already have become absolutely miserable places, and everyone knows it. It's reached a point where people either don't care what happens anymore, or actively want to see at least part of 4chan suffer and die.
I see, I thought it was because they were fearing for the future of 4chan without net neutralty. Is 4chan getting so bad just because of trump being president?
is it sad that i knew this was going to happen?
My ISP released a statement saying nothing will change. My faith is restored
yea I doubt nothing will change instantly, it'll happen over a few years. If isp's just go 'oh yea we're going to charge you x more just to watch netflix and shit like that' instantly, shit will hit the fan. No, its going to be a slow burn.
I never thought I'd fucking miss Tom Wheeler.
At this point I'm pretty sure most of the more popular posts in T_D are the result of someone deliberately trying to control the narrative there. Someone who benefits from telling these morons and racists what to think. Obviously it's always been a hugbox for Trumptards with a strict "Trump can do no wrong" narrative, but I'm talking about the completely nonsensical "The internet getting fucked is a good thing!" shit that seems to be floating to the surface of usual sea of racist circle-jerk bullshit.
well good thing that in chile net neutrality is a law
The internet is the greatest invention (Though it sorta just developed over time) since the internal combustion engine. It has made the world small. You can communicate instantaneously with anyone anywhere in the world. You can buy your fucking groceries with it. Most jobs require you to apply online with it. You pay your bills with it. The world economy relies on it. Ideas and opinions can be shared openly and freely on it. Businesses exist and rely on it. It's the freedom of information between the people and one of the most important aspects of LIBERTY And you FUCKS voted to give greedy corporations FULL FUCKING CONTROL when they already have MONOPOLIES ON THE FUCKING THING THERE SHOULD BE A FUCKING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROTECTING NET NEUTRALITY
"Hurr hurr, you lost, get fucked libtards!!" I'm convinced that if not eating our own shit was considered a left-leaning stance, you'd have a bunch of contrarians with typhoid because "that'll show (((them)))!". This is not a partisan issue yet people still want to treat this like a team sport.
This entire debacle has put me on edge. I had a connection error for only a split second and my heart dropped.
I see, I thought it was because they were fearing for the future of 4chan without net neutralty. Is 4chan getting so bad just because of trump being president?
Nah, it's just really, really easy to accidentally ruin an anonymous image board.
Anyone know what the chances are this does in Congress or in court? It getting passed today was pretty much a sealed deal, but it still really makes me sad, and mad. I am legitimately sitting here angry and I don’t know what to do
Everyone should remember the frog in boiling water metaphor for the direction companies will take after this ruling.
Here's what my ISP's Communications Director said
Despite criticism that the move to ease Net Neutrality regulations could allow companies to block or throttle internet traffic, Peters said she doesn't believe the sky is falling. Peters also said that the company's stance is that a light regulatory touch is what's best when it comes to the internet and that the market will weed out bad actors. "We have never blocked, throttled, slowed down or prioritized internet traffic," Peters said. "We will never do that. So, we don't believe that there is anything that our customers should be concerned or worried about with this change."
Completely ignoring the MANY times ISP's HAVE blocked connections. Especially those that compete with their own services in some way. And if nothing will change, why is Mediacom AGAINST Title II? The market will weed out bad actors. What a fucking joke. What market. Who is anyone going to turn to when their bad actor ISP is fucking with what they can and can't see or do? There's no where to go for the vast majority of us. And because of that fact, it absolutely SHOULD be regulated on behalf of the people. Not unregulated on behalf of the ISP's. Jesus christ kill me
why not make a national isp, a public service? oh wait that wouldnt work because healthcare isnt one either good luck my fellow americans

What a joke.
why not make a national isp, a public service? oh wait that wouldnt work because healthcare isnt one either good luck my fellow americans
Too big, not Europe, too expensive, big government, stifling innovation and competition, government telling you what to read learn and do, different culture, etc etc etc The reason ultimately boils down to "But that's socialism!"

Are we being trolled? Is this just a big hoax on the american people and they're slowly getting more and more brazen about it until we finally go Hey wait a second Please?
Given that it's Don Jr., it's really hard to tell if he's intentionally gaslighting America in that tweet or if he's just that fucking dumb.

So is there any word on when this shit will hit the courts?
Their statement isn't worth shit unless it's a pinky promise
And while they're doing that, the opposite hand is crossing their fingers behind their back. You can tell from their cheshire grin what they just did, but you know you can't call them out on it.
