"Today’s vote by the FCC to remove the Title II section of the Net Neutrality rules does not impact our commitment to Net Neutrality. We do not block, throttle or otherwise interfere with consumers’ desire to go where they want on the Internet. Cox has always been committed to providing an open Internet experience for our customers, and reversing the classification of Internet services does not change our commitment. We applaud FCC Chairman Ajit Pai for his leadership that has overturned the previous Commission’s decision to enact Title II, the 1930s-era utility telephone regulations. Reestablishing ‘light-touch’ regulation returns a level of certainty for consumer protections and future investment and innovation that spur the growth of the Internet." - Cox as of today
lol. how long before the government enacts a list of websites "less than legal" and which allows them to "technically" be okay for throttling or blocking them?

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good, you don't need rules when the free market of ratings will regulate posts and innovate the joke market" -J!NX a week before being permabanned for being up to no good
"Nobody can figure out why he was permabanned. He said he would do no good and all he did was go on a racist tirade threatening the mods and doxxing 50 people at once, its not like he didn't keep to his word" -One J!NX supporter has stated to Facewound news

I wouldn't trust a single person who says they'll do it until it's proven. A massive companies words mean nothing.
maybe Cox will stick to their word but I honestly doubt it. I'll trust them when they maintain their current heading and don't mess with anyone.
If your ISP has data caps, they're looking right now at how to monetize this repeal. End of. And Cox is one of them
I can't tell you if I am being throttled or not because I'm lucky to even get 8 mbps. Thanks gvtc.
So that's it, job's fucked now and ISPs get to bend you so far over the barrel you might as well be in it?

Nope. Congress could still strike it down (and would be the 3rd time they have done so for that matter).
This guy does a great job explaining how this is more than just paying for access to some website.

give it time
You know, if we're very, very lucky this'll be the perfect storm. If Trump has done enough damage and enough Americans are determined not to re-elect him or his cronies, it's possible that by 2020 the Democrats will sweep congress and win more than 2/3 of the seats. If that's so, they can pass a constitutional amendment enshrining Net Neutrality in law, to prevent the GOP from ever getting their grubby paws on it again.
Not saying it's likely, but it seems more possible than it was with, say, Bush.
[editline]15th December 2017[/editline]
And yet, even in this best case scenario... you've got to assume the ISPs behind Ajit Pai aren't idiots. I'd bet all my money that a lot of Democrats are going to see significant campaign contributions from major ISPs moving forward, because they know Democrats are most likely to reinstate N.N. - unless the ISPs can pre-empt them by buying them.
so many morons saying internet was fine before 2015 so it'll be fine again

You already came to your conclusion and probably won't be convinced otherwise. The NN ruling is having effect before it's even introduced.

I think the big thing about it is that to the consumer it may not have been directly obvious
however to companies that is very different.
I wonder how 4chan will defend this considering the impact it will have on their site
"NN wasn't a thing for the first 40 years of the internet's existence, you teenage shitter"
"He's pretty much the most based poo ever. He shits on liberals instead of streets. And it's fucking glorious."
"The best part of this based decision are the reddit tears."
And when 4chan inevitably goes down they are going to complain in 8chan about how reddit took down 4chan.

4chan ain't a hive mind.
I've seen plenty of times where pol have tried raiding a board only to be called snowflakes and told to fuck off
it's very fitting that you have a MLP avatar
i dont know what 4chan youre thinking of that any of the sensible boards would want neutrality to die but its definitely not the one at 4chan.org

Why would 8chan ever be safe from anything that puts 4chan in danger?

Someone should be indicted for this.
I have Comcast, my area is pretty much a monopoly. What good satellite companies would you guys recommend?
The scale of fraud in this is insane.

Pretty ironic considering that Republicans always cry about how Democrats supposedly have dead people voting for them and that's the only reason Democrats win :V
the real negative effect is that dismantling neutrality rules
benefits only huge companies and established corporations with large enough market coverage
not to just squeeze more from customers base
but to squeeze more from any other business on internet
and extort new startups
also in Europe (and some other continents)
we thankfully have `neutral` exchange points for ISPs and similar companies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_exchange_point
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_exchange_points_by_size
which allows wiser companies via simple flat fee to evade some of the horrors of not neutral internet
i'm still shocked by the way how FCC crumbled and gave whole market to big corporations
(imho some may question the need to even have FCC afterward)
imho the effect will be much harsher than just some slower movies access ...
imagine multiplayer games, documents access etc.

I highly doubt they got the right to use Game of Thrones footage and music as well.
I lost count at how many times Ajit Pai and his marketing team have fucked up.
At this point I think we should just automatically assume every action they make is a fuck up.
Also the woman he's next to in that video is a spreader of the dangerous and insane Pizzagate conspiracy theory
