Welp, time to go rub one out before porn is bundled into a package I can't afford.
This sucks a lot for everyone, not just the US.
All US based services might have a price hike for international customers because they're gonna have to pay out the ass for their data to be sent through the internet.
armed resistance movements in the modern world versus the technical capabilities of the american military are basically hopeless unless you can fire up millions at once
I think the average American is far too lazy, out of shape, and ill-equipped regardless so once the first major clash between a rebellion force and the actual military happens most people would give up. The Second Amendment exists these days in part to give nutjob militia groups the illusion that they could ever stand up to the government if they need to. They can't. No one can.
I hope I can still pursue a career as a game dev.
NY is suing the FCC over this.

The military would fracture itself.
VPNs are going to get a whole lot more popular.

Don't most of the US services have EU servers though?

You mean you haven't been stockpiling an emergency hard drive?
Or never will exist because money now can block things.
Are you kidding, bundling it into a package will be helluva lot more profitable than blocking it
The worst thing to do now is to just give up and say net neutrality is dead, we still have a chance to prevent it from truly dying.
I don't know what other to do than just laugh.
Don't forget about this:
people have revolted over less
Over less, yeah. This was us three years ago, protesting a 0,5USD/GB tax on internet data (which would have been maximized at 3USD/month but the government completely failed at communicating that):
[t]https://4cdn.hu/kraken/image/upload/s----gxW3lX--/w_1160/6mDkY61QyGCZKeDGs.jpeg[/t]
After that, the government did a complete 180 and not only discarded the proposition but decreased the VAT on internet by 9% !
Protesting might actually be useful even in this day and age.
RIP
It's unlikely to survive the night though, federal judges will likely vote to have it reviewed due to the tampering evidence.
https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/14/16776154/fcc-net-neutrality-vote-results-rules-repealed
Technically everybody has to wait till its in the federal registrar which will be a while but there's also hope the dems force a CRA resolution to nullify the vote and theres good reason to believe they might be able to pull it off
The US doesn't know how to protest correctly, effectively. Protesting 1 day and the next going back to work isn't going to solve shit.
if we had this kind of outcry during the election, maybe this could have been prevented
maybe people should fucking pay attention next time
Where's Obama when you need a drone strike?
That strikes me as incredibly callous and foolhardy. "Lets destroy our institutions yet again, because we can't just wait this one out".
Cause trump's not going to stay in power forever, we've already seen the beginnings of a blue shift, the FCC decision is going to get wrecked by courts or congress or both, and if it doesn't then the blue FCC is going to just repeal the decision.
So you want us to throw all that away, because of a few years of bullshit. You know, there was plenty of talk about doing that under Obama too, and under Bush jr, the political climate will change, it always does.
Armed revolution is only needed when the institutions fail, and they haven't failed.
It's an internet forum, buddy. Assume everyone's kidding.
People screaming "All is lost" on my newsfeed on literal fucking everything social media related.
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the situation.
My roommate has a long distance relationship of six years and his family is poor. Ajit Pai essentially just gave her relationship a countdown.
That's a real kick in the teeth for people in those situations. There's countless other ways this can fuck over people too.

Most of them probably had no idea about this whole NN issue until a few days ago.
I was telling a friend of mine a few days ago about this and his response was just "lol what's that?"
I'm just offering some perspective. You want us to start a civil war, over an impotent orange man, and some bad regulation that's going to get shot to pieces by either: A. the courts, B. Congress, or C. the next FCC board.
And don't say "oh i'm just saying we get rid of a few people", cause that's not possible. It's an all or nothing thing, the second you start shooting, expect others to shoot back, and battle lines to be drawn.
So you're literally advocating for civil war 2: Electric boogaloo.
This goes beyond "They're taking away my spank bank!" and "I don't like trump! >:C!!!!"
This is about the fact that our current administration has given rise to an overwhelming amount of sheer assholery present in our government, both through ignorance and pure corruption. Absurd amounts of senate members, representatives, gov't officials and the ilk have shown an incredible amount of disregard for well being of the American people.
They make calls that break the backs of the average Joe and suffer none-the-worse for it, because they have an R or a D next to their name. They are held with no accountability of anything they vote for, even if it goes as far as stripping rights from their own citizens. This is both the fault of our government and the fact that so little people actually know who to get ahold of when they're displeased with something. Not that I feel it'd help much in the matter, given how they'll simply say something along the lines of "We're concerned" and proceed to work the Party line anyway, because BETTER FOLLOW MY GROUP RATHER THAN BASE OFF MY OWN MORALS RIGHT???
This issue doesn't stem from President Babymitts, either. It was around before, however his administration has put into light just how fucking disgusting this is. Never before has the corruption been so blatant, and never did I expect such complacency about it. We, as Americans, are docile and laid by the wayside in how we're treated by the people that are supposed to take care of us. People don't care that they are being infringed upon (as a whole), instead choosing to go "YEAH, THAT'S THE GUY I VOTED FOR DOING IT. HE MUST BE DOING SOME GOOD" and that's a terrible way to be.
So yeah, I am calling for some sort of revolt, because I think the government needs to be reminded it needs to take care of it's people and not itself.
Edit:
For the record, I'm not saying march on Washington guns blazing either. I'm saying protest the shit out of these people. Don't lump me in with these psuedo-revolutionists that just want bullets flying.

I fully expect if this actually manages to squeek through the courts that everyone involved is going to be bombarded by lawsuit after lawsuit over lost profits from internet based companies who lose traffic over this.

Too little, too late. It's unfortunate, I did as much as I could, and for the only time in my life i've actually contacted my state reps, but... this is the end result. I can get why people don't bother to make their voice heard when they feel like this. Like in the end no difference was made because you spoke out.
I'm worried, but to freak out would be a bit much. I think it's too early to start blowing up over the issue.
Wasn't the whole point of the second amendment to be able to fight back against government tyranny?
This was a vote to deregulate, as in government hands off. How is that government tyranny?
That's a real kick in the teeth for people in those situations. There's countless other ways this can fuck over people too.

This was a vote to deregulate, as in government hands off. How is that government tyranny?
Are you a fucking moron?! Its a consumer right that they are stripping away. Corporations now control the web, and the current FCC head still works for them on the down low.
Censorship is now legal online, this is the definition of tyranny.
Control and censorship of the market and the users.

Would government going hands off on regulating monopolies be justifiable tyranny?
I better go on /gif/ and fill up a 1TB hard drive.
