Net neutrality is over but joe the capybara remains free for all. Bias showing from Pai? Proof:

We can still fight this. Remember the second amendment.

I'd like to say I don't think he's advocating murder. The French Revolution happened because after the country went and bankrupted itself in a war against the British over America, the people who had to pay for it were the poor - Life got so difficult for the regular citizenry, fucked over by the greedy nobility, that they decided to teach them a lesson - that the working class far outnumbers the upper class, and that when a government and upper class gets too corrupt and starts fucking over its people for the sake of greed, there's nothing stopping the people from storming their castles and making their heads roll.
It was bloody. It was ugly. It was mob rule and anarchy. It was necessary.
The lesson of the French revolution should never be forgotten - least of all by America, which was arguably the cause of it, and which was itself founded by revolutionaries.
When protests fail to turn the government's ear, when protections and freedoms are stripped away, when said government ceases to serve the people but serves instead the profits of a few sleazy corporations, then it's time to remind them of the Guillotine - the symbol of the French Revolution that struck fear into the hearts of the ruling class. Naturally, violence itself should be avoided for as long as possible. But the threat of it can be an effective deterrent with the right leadership.
Please vote for a democrat president in 2020 even if you disagree with the dems, the way the gop has acted this year is unacceptable.

I was getting buffering every few seconds on a 1080p youtube video, on Verizon. This is the thirteenth lecture in the series I'm watching and weirdly enough I've had no issues loading any of them until today.

You've sold me. Come on boys, we're storming the Bastille!
Real talk I wonder what this means for Facepunch. I know it's UK based but would that stop American ISPs from trying to extort money out of Garry? Or would they just go "Eh, can't make money off these people, fuck em" and just stop my ability to access the site period, drastically reducing the userbase.

You imply that this comparably microscopic forum would ever garner any attention from any government ever.
Ok so forgive my ignorance.
But I've tried reading arguments from both sides and the people defending the repeal keep saying that the internet will go back to as it were before 2015. Which is as far as I can tell, more or less exactly the same as it was during the NN.
So was this entire 3 year slapfight just meaningless banter with no consequences other than it probably cost a shitload of tax dollars?

I'm aware this isn't in ~the top 100 sites~ even but that's kind of the worrying thing. What happens to the entire rest of the internet that isn't a huge site? Do we all just get to frolic freely or do we all just get throttled to shit because "eh can't make money from em why let people use em?"
the american government has been subjugating black people and the working class for centuries and nothing's happened. but of course now that the white straight men have their access to bideo bames threatened it's time for a revolution.

No, the FCC rules came around because this sort of shit started to happen. You might not remember, because it didn't last, because we got Title II regulations.

Are you even a real person
Seriously let's not play the fucking "who's more persecuted" game, I'm sick of that shit. Everyone has something to lose under the GOP's tyranny and it's time we fucking accept it and come together to fight back instead of squabbling like a bunch of babies.

ajit pai used to work at comcast. it wouldn't be too farfetched to believe his pushing for this means that there were preparations in place to start exploiting a lack of net neutrality that he just had to pave the way for

Abuses of a lack of net neutrality already happened before the regulations were put in place. I reckon most companies hadn't thought to do something like this until a few started and it got banned before most could take advantage.
Now that they're aware of what they could do they've spent millions upon millions trying to get the ability back and they're not doing it so that they won't use that power.
Basically they realized they could fuck people and only got to test the waters before it got banned, so once it's gone, they're gonna go full hog fucking people.
I just hope European countries don't go "USA has Thing? We need to have Thing!"
A lot of European countries don't have net neutrality regulations, the reason it doesn't cause problems is because there's actual competition on the ISP markets. I wouldn't mind the repeal of net neutrality in the US if that was the case there too, but it's not and it won't be. The US really needs better anti-monopoly laws. I'd argue that splitting American ISPs would work better for the consumer than keeping FCC's net neutrality regulations, but since it won't happen, Americans need to fight tooth and nail for net neutrality

I'm not surprised that all the petitions etc. changed nothing. Just hope this decision is very short-term.

Why would a captured regulatory body give a fuck about people's opinions?
lets hope congress or some other party shoots this down, because this is bringing my blood to a boil
otherwise we're all screwed until the parties switch

It is insane that one party is removing something 83% of people are for. The dems need to hammer the net neutrality message in future elections, make it an official party platform.
