So basically if it makes it through congress/lawsuits out the dick you're gonna get fucked with one of two ways, maybe both
1.You have to pay for a package to access websites you like, fuck you otherwise
2.Websites have to pay not to be throttled, killing a lot of websites and services, and the ones that can pay are probably going to pass the cost along to you
probably both
I look forward to having to pay to access netflix which I have to pay an increased subscription just to use due to less users that can't afford it and them having to offset the throttle extortion money :terrists:
It is insane that one party is removing something 83% of people are for. The dems need to hammer the net neutrality message in future elections, make it an official party platform.
its too much about identity politics, republicans vote republican because they're republican, not coz they like their policies
“The internet wasn't broken in 2015. We were not living in some digital dystopia,”
I like how he uses this "it ain't broken" argument which is exactly what one could say about removing NN, the internet isn't broken so stop fucking with it.
The main problem consumers have with the internet is not and has never been that their internet provider is blocking access to content. It's been that they don't have access at all.
This is so transparently bullshit, it's not 2002 anymore. The Internet is one of the few pieces of high technology that nearly everyone has access to - the U.S. is in 40th place in terms of percentage of the population with internet access, even though this represents 7/8ths of the U.S. population. Consumers have access to the internet, what they lack is real freedom of choice in terms of who they buy it from. Soon they'll even lack the freedom to use the internet for their own purposes.
I hope this does end up getting to congress, because I feel like it's probably going to die there
in the wake of all that's happened this year, and especially in recent memory, the GOP needs something good to salvage their rep, and net neutrality is not a good hill for them to die on right now.
As much as this gets painted as a partisan issue, it is partisan only in the slightest amount. Over 80 percent of America supports net neutrality. Democrats want it. Republicans want it. Most people want it, and the only people who don't are brainwashed extremists who want whatever they're told to want.
So if it makes it to Congress the democrats are going to vote overwhelmingly to maintain net neutrality and the Republicans are going to be left with a choice whether they want to do something decent that will get them some positive PR for once, or if they want to help some corporations make more money at the expense of everyone including other corporations and ignore the huge majority of their constituents, pissing their own people off even more and painting themselves even more as monsters in the wake of Moore.
Even if most Republican congressmen went "eEEEEEEY FUCK MY CONSTITUENTS I WANNA SUCK THAT CORPORATE DICK" I feel like there's probably gonna be enough moderate republican congressmen or congressmen with common sense to know this is a bad idea and block it.
So what are the reactions to this on the donald and pol and anywhere else with a lot of trumples supporters?
My folks just got a call saying that “pricing will change soon”
Yesterday my family let an ATT tech in the house to fuck with shit, wonder what he was doing..
Probably installed an emp device to permanently throttle your net. Too bad net neutrality won't be here to remove it.

Heh, man I wish I could be this naive and blindly optimistic.
Government officials do not work for you. They do not care about you or what you think. They work only for the corporations that give them millions of dollars to do their bidding. We are powerless.

Stop being pessimistic. Sitting around doing nothing will always screw us over more than doing something.

This is what they call a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Government officials do not work for you.
They do if you don't vote like a fucking idiot.
So what are the reactions to this on the donald and pol and anywhere else with a lot of trumples supporters?
Same blind "libtards r trigurd lel," shit as always, apparently they're completely ignoring the fact that this means they will need to cough up extra to shitpost now. Also a lot of "BUT HILLARY," deflection.
So business as usual, really.

Wow. That is sad. I hope most trump supporters on the internet are young and mature more.
edit: It can't be mentally healthy to rationalize everything bad your preferred candidate does with "it makes the people I don't like mad so it's fine".

There's one picture which is nigh impossible to decipher. Here's the thread.

There's people doing the whole "HURR HURR LIBCUCK CUCK CUCK GET RAPED MAGA MAGA" but that happens with everything. If you get past the lobotomites, people seem to actually be questioning things. Pro-Trump people are going "wait wtf why exactly are we going against nn when we all wanted it?"
People actually seem upset about it.

t_d has been openly anti-NN since the election ended, and as usual ban people who don't tow the party line.
Historically, /pol/ has been mostly pro-NN, but they're a known raid target for stormfront and t_d, and most of 4chan has grown increasingly self-destructive at an alarming rate over the course of 2017. I suppose you could sum /pol/ up as mixed in opinion when not apathetic.

Boy I wish I could afford to give up as easily as you do lol. But I make my living working online so y'know. I'm gonna fight whether it seems fruitless or not.

This can't be real. Even after he went full "hip" mode with "le fidget spinnerz and nerf guns xD xD *dabs*" there's no way he'd just throw himself out under any circumstances until he can guarantee he can fuck millions in the ass at Verizon.

I think I remember seeing something about how t_d would support all trump actions except removing net neutrality, like that was the line in the sand for them, what happened to that?
Also what's making 4chan self-destructing? I don't really go there.

Well, the timestamp says 9:33PM and it's currently 6:38PM on the US east coast, so...
EDIT:
Unless this happened yesterday before the vote happened, but then it would have been tweeted yesterday

Whether it's being corralled to an expensive "adult" package or throttled outright, a site as infamous as 4chan will take a substantial hit. Despite this, a ton of it's userbase welcomes it like an eldritch cult welcomes being eaten by an old one.

So its chaos since they're scared for the future of the site? Sounds reasonable
edit: don't really interact with 4chan or have an opinion of the site as a whole, but it would suck for them to be throttled because of pol's and any other section's actions.

I've always wondered if T_D gets Mercer or Koch funding alongside Stormfront.
I think I remember seeing something about how t_d would support all trump actions except removing net neutrality, like that was the line in the sand for them, what happened to that?
I'm pretty sure that was a PR move.
Also what's making 4chan self-destructing? I don't really go there.
Most boards are either becoming or already have become absolutely miserable places, and everyone knows it. It's reached a point where people either don't care what happens anymore, or actively want to see at least part of 4chan suffer and die.

Also, it looks like the courts are gearing up to sue the everloving shit out of the FCC over this. I wouldn't give up hope just yet.
