You know, at least the Americans can protest the questionable actions of their government.

What's the difference? One makes noise but continues doing shit, while the other just keeps quiet while doing shit.
That's fucking frightening and beautiful beyond words at the same time.
The least some of you could do (mdeceive79, Conscript, and others) is acknowledge that something horrible has happened, and that the actions of the Dutch have been nothing but honorable, elegant, and incredibly passionate. A great wrong has been committed, separately of all other events currently happening in the world (why even mention another conflict that has nothing to do with this one?), and we're simply making note of that.
To complain about the "Russophobes" or point out the ongoings of the Gaza strip have no relevance whatsoever to the topic at hand. You wouldn't interject with that sort of thing in a real conversation about this, so why do it here? Have some bloody decency.

You're right, we shouldn't think about others in the world and consider ourselves lucky to have such an amazing showing. Let's just pretend it is normal. To be honest, I might interject that in conversation. When speaking about the crash and the funeral day, I might say they are fortunate to have such circumstances. And then perhaps turn my mourning also partially to the others dying constantly and needlessly.
But you're right, that is heartless.

I'm sure there're other threads on other occasions around here, where you can say something about others dying in the world.

I seem to have missed this.
I have said several times that it is a tragedy. You are clearly jumping to conclusions.
My biggest concern in fact is that it is being used as a political weapon/tool rather than a lesson.
All armies/militias/armed groups in the world should make absolutely sure they positively ID their target before firing, collateral damage of this scale is unacceptable and totally irresponsible.
Instead of seeing a global demand for positive identification and increased value for human lives, we are seeing a power squabble, with people calling for sanctions on Russia. America has done similar things, with bigger death tolls and had no sanctions. The only difference here is that is has been politicized and hijacked to push an agenda.
A great wrong has been done and similar tragedies involving 100s of civilians will happen again unless everybody with the power to do so realizes the burden of responsibility they carry and the absolute necessity for positive identification of targets.
I dislike that you have made me out to not acknowledge this happening, maybe it was a mistype by you but if it was intentional it was a low blow.
Went over and parked my car next to the highway to see them come by.

You mean... like you're using it now?
We saw this in the news, I really have to say the Dutch have a such a great way of mourning the dead of not only their nation, but every nation involved in this really grim event
Also to see your Government and Monarch out in the public mourning with everyone else is really astounding and to me simply beautiful
That BBC video..
You can hear people crying so loudly in the distance, even though the people recording are probably using shotgun mics or something. That's telling of how much it hurts the people in the audience.
God bless.
