Good thing I was talking about student loans in context of student loans being easy.
"Students and Workers unite and fight"
I've said this before, but I love the irony of middle and upper class students claiming to represent the workers. The working class aren't interested in ideology and revolution, all they want is what's best for their family while all the Trotskyist students protesting care about is sticking it to system because they've never had to work for anything in life and have a belief system made up of entrenched moral absolutism.
There's a sizable working class population in universities today. It's not quite as middle-class or higher as it used to be due to a lot of jobs that would help a working class person thrive requiring university degrees now. Shit, even being a code monkey, which is all right pay for just thinking once in a while requires some kind of certification past A levels now if you want to be hired quickly.
It's not an irony any more. Even with the price bump, uni is affordable enough for working class people to get in on that shit (I know I did).
Lol? You think those are high? Motherfuckers it would cost me less to go to school in Europe than it would for just the tuition in a lot of US universities. Like, bring those protests here please, we need them.
p. funny, one of my housemates did a year abroad at NYU, had to be very careful when talking about money and shit because they don't charge us the full fees for US universities during those years. Every one of his Ameri-mates looked like they wanted to murder his ass if it ever came up.
I wish it would finally start happening over here too. It's getting above and beyond the point of ridiculousness
It's that time of year again!
You have to fork out £9K a year for your university course now instead of how it used to be where I think it was around £3K
Plus courses are sometimes quite long depending on what you want to do, so you can often end up £30K or more in debt.
College is free unless you are over a certain age but it's always been the case you'll have to pay for University unless you get a Scholarship or something.
i've counted that to get most of my education and go for masters, i'll end up with 54k of debt.
Honestly we don't have an absolutely terrible deal apart from the fact that they can always change the terms of repayment. I doubt many will even be paying the full amount back.
Legally wise, they cannot change the terms if they have already issued you the sums for a certain year.
Correct me if im not wrong, but if you get 9K for this year on the current made terms, and then they change them, the new terms will only affect the 9k you're gonna apply for next year or further on.

Federal loans are pretty decent, but once you get private loans you are fairly fucked.
£9k for UK students, for foreign students it's around £30k (last time I checked)
Depends on the school and course as well, although generally international students will be paying upward of £20k a year, excluding living expenses.

And this is why I went to the UK instead of the US. I'd basically be paying 25% more if I had gone to the US.
I honestly don't know why it costs so much. I'm only paying 3K at Queens University Belfast and it's "ok". I mean, a lot of the work isn't structured well with the modules, and everything I'm given is either filled with spelling mistakes or just pure misleading. I learn most of my shit myself off the internet.
You're really paying thousands just to have a piece of paper that goes "Honours Degree", and chances are you won't even get a good job with it for years after.

You will need a Masters to get anywhere, atleast in Europe.
UK college = High School in US
UK University = College in US
Just to set the things straight before people get confused
woah uk kids must be real smart

For comparison re. fees, in New Zealand I payed 5-6k a year for Uni, combined with 1k a year for course related costs. Government gives us an interest free student loan to cover that stuff, and my loan is currently around 27k after four years of art school. 1NZD is currently about 0.5 British Pounds, so we're still super cheap compared to the mother country
It's not a protest without a guy fawkes mask
This sort of thing should be happening in my country.
