i'm getting a heavy pillar of autumn feel from those planes
This is what airbus is using now, it is called the Beluga:
Its a Boeing thats stuck on the runway, not an Airbus.
They sent a tug, it broke down :v:
Pfft I've gotten out of worse places in IL-2 He's lucky he didn't hit a exploding forest
You think thats bad... Allow me to introduce you to the super guppy
does it even lift?
Thread derailing into LMAO pics planes edition.
The BBC article is a little more hopeful, apparently the ~3km runway is only needed for a max weight take off. Which apparently it isn't so it will apparently fly safely away. More importantly though, how on earth does a plane land at the wrong airport. Surely at some point the pilots must have noticed they were not flying into the (military!) airport they were expecting?
From BBC News another one
You can almost see the shame in it's eyes. It's like a guilty dog. Now sit there and think of what you've done!
Oh hey it took off!
I really wonder how you manage to screw up that bad and land at the wrong airport. Especially under IFR rules you get vectored in. Video could use some sound tho.
How much runway clearance is it missing? If it's not by much, they could just wait until a very cold day. Cold air reduces take-off distance, because it is denser! :eng101: [editline]21st November 2013[/editline]
Oh hey it took off!
Lovely. Nice work everybody-- see you next time.
all i can say is woops.... [editline]21st November 2013[/editline] those pilots should probably get a medal for both fucking up and somehow landing/taking off on a runway thats like 1/3 the size needed then they should probably take a vacation for a few weeks

The other two are already getting a grinding probs.

It happens, and the only FAA violations I see here are going to be related to "identify airport environment", but in fact it is clear they identified "an airport environment". Jabara (mis-pronounced intentionally) is an un-controlled airport, no landing clearance expected, required, or provided. They were talking to approach, who would not have given landing clearance anyway. For all you M$ simulator pilots, turn your sun down, turn your weather down to minimums, and shoot the Localizer approach to the North at Manhattan Regional, and see if you don't almost land on Riley.
I was joking with the aviation guys around me saying that the pilot would be calling speeds like this V1...Rotate...Rotate...Rotate...Rotate..Rotate...R O T A T E... FENCE... ROTATE...
I was kind of looking forward to seeing them take it apart. Yet another dream ruined.
It's Kansas, maybe pray for a windy day (and that the wind blows retrograde to the aircraft) EDIT: My source in Wichita says that the plane took off a couple of hours ago. Says they just gave it a shot and it worked. DOUBLE EDIT: Apparently this, too, is old news. Fuck my life.
