"Eradication may also refer to: Genocide, the deliberate, systematic destruction of an ethnic, religious or national group of people" "Genocide is "the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group"" Just thought I would throw that out there.
I didn't say people of faith should be eradicated. The ideology of faith must be exterminated for the betterment of the world. That's not genocide. Even as we debate semantics hundreds of people are dying every minute due to diseases that could have been treated had stem cell research not been banned due to religion. THAT is genoicde. Ergo, religions promote genocide. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
Atheists that push atheism on others like this, are just as bad as the religious nuts.
that's a false equivalency. atheists' interference in medical sciences doesn't kill hundreds of people a day. Atheists don't get life-saving medical research banned because of their beliefs. Atheists don't blow up buildings or commit mass genocide against people they disagree with. Atheists don't use their beliefs (or lack thereof) to brainwash the masses.
Yeah down with jesus! Hail Santa!
Billboard seems like the only purpose of it was just to incite negative emotion and to offend. Good job.
there was a dude named jesus that built some houses or what not

Just create a new god that kills the previous gods.
"We are Atheists, and we demand you believe in the only true God, for he is the one who killed all other Gods!"
Yeah down with jesus! Hail Santa!
Satan*. I apologize, he's dyslexic.
How do you propose preventing anyone in the world from believing in something?
good education and a strong, rational way of thinking? it really isn't that hard
Atheists that push atheism on others like this, are just as bad as the religious nuts.
Atheists that try to push atheism on others like this are not so much atheists as their anti-theists I think.
I wish both sides would shut the fuck up and grow the fuck up, it's this stupid us vs them mentality that gets us nowhere.
Why can't we keep Jesus in Christmas > He was an important figure in the world's history and should be remembered. I like having a little baby Jesus stall under my tree that doesn't mean I'm Christian or something , I just like the story .
I can appreciate the sentiment, not the delivery.
because religion prevents scientific progress and holds back research that could save millions of lives. only when faith is completely eradicated can live-saving medical science (eg stem cell research) advance.
Uh, religion as a faith doesn't. Arab Muslims centuries ago were on the forefront of scientific and mathematical discovery while still being Muslim. You do get people now though who use the institution of religion in some misinformed attacks on science. They'll disappear over time. "Eradicating" faith will do nothing. Especially when you also clearly have people who have concerns on advancement who aren't religious.
Wow, good job atheist activists, you sure are making the rest of you look great. Honestly though, Christmas is the false birth of jesus. It has NOTHING to do with Jesus. You need to study santa clause and sick history, this whole thing is a sham, Christmas is just the pagan holiday saturnalia adapted. Furthermore basically almost all of christianity today has been corrupted by paganism due to all the concessions in the first millenium. Don't even get me start on the council of Nicea. The Atheists should be protesting paganism. Christmas has nothing to do with Christ other than the name and the fanfare. It has no historical relation, furthermore if you really look into it the Muslims date his birth in Summer. But ultimately nobody knows Jesus' real birthday, at the time the messiah was prophesized to rise so a plot was made to kill each newborn, the birth was in secret, that's why it should be called Xmas. X means unknown, yet ignorance effects us.
The Atheists should be protesting paganism.
Paganism isn't the massive socio-political force that Christianity is in the US.
What's the big hassle about this? They're not attacking christmas. "The true beauty of the season -- family, friends, and love -- have nothing to do with the gods of yesterday" They want to say you can enjoy Christmas without being christian, and it's true that christianity has nothing to do with all this spending, christmas trees and santa).
I can understand the sentiment, but I disagree with the way they presented it. Its the same thing with those billboards some athiest group put up prior to the presidential debates. The idea that we should ask if Obama's/Romney's religions would affect their policy making is a good question to ask, but the way the billboards were set up (really all they had to put up was a question asking if religion would affect policy making in an adverse way, but they didn't, they made something openly insulting), hence the backlash.
good education and a strong, rational way of thinking? it really isn't that hard
No, it dosn't work like that. You cannot make someone believe/not believe something.
Uh, religion as a faith doesn't. Arab Muslims centuries ago were on the forefront of scientific and mathematical discovery while still being Muslim.
and you know religious fundamentalism is the reason why those muslim scientists and mathematicians eventually disappeared right?
LETS RUIN EVERYONE FUCKING HOLIDAYS BECAUSE WE THINK THAT PEOPLE LIKE A FAIRY TALE TOO MUCH DOESNT THAT PISS YOU OFF OMFGHFDGDFGDFG PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID WHY ARE THEY SO STUPID JESUS ISNT EVEN REAL OMFG HES FAKKKE HOW CAN YOU BEELIEEVE IN SOMETHING SO FAKE YOUR WHOLE LIVES MUST BE A LIE YOUR ARE ALL STUPID SHEEPLE GET WITH THE PROGRAM ITS 2012 FAGGOTS [sp]I'm being sarcastic you chucklefucks I shouldnt even have to put this in my post god what is wrong with all of you[/sp]
I don't think the winter holidays are going to be ruined by a billboard.
shit guys they put a billboard up i dont know about you guys but this is absolutely ruining my christmas my life is shattered i can no longer celebrate christmas without shame man my feelings sure are hurt T_T we should sue for emotional damages i think i may be traumatized
oh man, if it weren't for this billboard i'd probably still believe in god
Fuck sake, this kind of behaviour makes me ashamed to be an Athiest.
Really Cause I'm an atheist too but I couldn't be inclined to give two shits as I always play spectator when it comes to debates over stuff like that.
I personally find it hilarious that these sorts of things stir up a shitstorm. Are people really oblivious to the fact that stuff like this is intentionally designed to provoke a reaction in some fashion? Discussion means that people are talking about it. They are thinking about it. Streisand effect in action. By throwing a tantrum over this you are giving it merit. Perhaps it's not merit in the sense of credibility, but you are drawing attention to it. It's exactly what is wanted. It's the exact same thing that the WBC, and PETA does, albeit for entirely different agendas.
But Santa isn't real Praise Jesus
WAIT santa isnt real? my life is a lie
I myself consider Aithiests who Celebrate Christmas Hypocrites, And this is completly stupid, they are trying to get rid of the reason Christmas started. And for the record Jesus is not a myth
What I find comical is that many atheists celebrate Christmas. Lol. Atheists celebrating a Christian holiday. Of course, we all know why. If there were no presents a majority of people would have nothing to do with Christmas. My question is this - Would atheists make a stink if they were made to work on Christmas Day?
I myself consider Aithiests who Celebrate Christmas Hypocrites, And this is completly stupid, they are trying to get rid of the reason Christmas started. And for the record Jesus is not a myth
Oh boy here we go
Can't we all just get along and open some presents? For fucks sake.
Could you guys just like fuck off being ignorant dicks and learn to be the slightest bit more tolerant and respectful towards other religions also while you're there REALISE EVERYBODY'S ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN BELIEFS Sincerely, every other atheist who's not a complete cunt about other religions
I don't know why people argue about this stuff. Religion isn't particularly harmful (at least not in North America), because it doesn't have enough power any more to sway people. When the catholic church slams homosexuality and contraceptives, people just laugh. Religion's on it's way out the door either way, it's just progress.
What I find comical is that many atheists celebrate Christmas. Lol. Atheists celebrating a Christian holiday.
What I find comical is that [del]many[/del] all Christians celebrate the mid-winter solstice. Lol. Christians celebrating a pagan holiday.
