Kind of for the same reason that Quran burning guy was refused at the border.
Thanks for making us look bad once again guys. Why do these dumbasses even care? Let them have their fun with Jezus.
Leave religion alone athiests for once in your life
Leave religion alone athiests for once in your life
Why?
Why?
Because the point of being atheist is leaving religion alone, correct me if I'm wrong.
Because the point of being atheist is leaving religion alone, correct me if I'm wrong.
There is no point. That's the point.
"Friends who want to stay friends, don't discuss religion or politics."
uuh, reminds me of a friend of mine who is a staunch anti religious atheist who knows I'm religious yet insists on going on unprovoked rants about how much he hates religion to me. [editline]13th December 2012[/editline]
ahahahaha you're not serious are you? when was the last time an atheist tried to knock on your door to deliver the good word of dawkins? out of all the towns in the usa, how many have atheist signs or displays? how many have religious signs or displays? how many times has our congress decided that this nation was not founded under any god or that god was not a source of inspiration for the country? how many times have you looked down at your money and seen anything except "in god we trust"?
I wish atheists would go door knocking, I've always wanted to get a door knocking mormon or something like that
Because the point of being atheist is leaving religion alone, correct me if I'm wrong.
you're wrong
Because the point of being atheist is leaving religion alone, correct me if I'm wrong.
First of all, athiesm has no point. 2nd of all if we just leave religon alone how will anything ever change?
First of all, athiesm has no point. 2nd of all if we just leave religon alone how will anything ever change?
How exactly will billboards change anyone? Anyone who seriously changes there mind based on a bloody billboard is probably weak minded.
Because the point of being atheist is leaving religion alone, correct me if I'm wrong.
the point of being an atheist is that you don't believe in any gods the absence of belief doesn't mean you have to leave anything alone. [editline]13th December 2012[/editline]
How exactly will billboards change anyone? Anyone who seriously changes there mind based on a bloody billboard is probably weak minded.
refer to:
the point is to piss people off. it's showing people that atheism is a growing demographic in the usa and that atheists aren't going anywhere anytime soon. it's basically saying "get used to the fact that you(christians) are not the only group with the power to advertise or express yourself publicly anymore".
The billboard doesn't even say anything offensive. Christmas is NOT a christian holiday. That's a myth, and that seems to be all the billboard is saying. Of course Christians (the worst of the bunch at least) usually have some wild persecution complex in which they believe the world is out to get them, so they'll probably jump to the worst conclusion possibly imaginable when they see something like this, but so fucking what... They always do that, when they do it just shows the world how wildly detached from reality they are. It's not a big deal. For people saying "Why have a billboard that says something like this? It's not going to convince anyone..." Maybe you don't understand how religions typically work. They are based around fear and societal pressure to get people to 'accept' them. I was raised by an extremely religious Christian family, for basically the first 13 years of my life I was taught the only beliefs there ever were was the Christian belief, that God exists and the bible is some holy text that God and only God wrote. When I was told about people who were atheists and agnostics, I questioned my beliefs more but was still in the state of mind "If I change my beliefs, I'll go to hell" so I kind of acted interested in these views but was still paralyzed from fear, and wouldn't really think about it because I 'knew' thinking about things like this were BAD!! So it took me 3-4 more years of questioning and learning about these types of things (as well as science and more importantly I think, psychology) before I was really even comfortable enough to have my own personal beliefs on anything. And I think that is just terrible. The worst way of bringing up a child into this world, and people who force their beliefs and their dogmas onto their children are just terrible. Yet they exist everywhere and society seems to think it's not only normal, but the best way of instilling 'goodness' into their children. (cough cough bullshit cough cough) But my point is, you don't know who could benefit from these billboards, as small and meaningless as they are to you (which doesn't seem very true if you're one of these people offended so horribly about it that you feel the need to debate it) they could help some people who are on the fence about their beliefs and philosophy. The fear of having your own beliefs, or having someone else pressuring you into believing a certain way is something of an epidemic in this country, believe it or not. Some people just want to counter that, and that's perfectly acceptable.
Jesus is a bro- on his birthday everyone gets presents
If we are ever to change things in society we have to dare challenge beliefs and take debate. That sometimes means offending people.
Doesn't Christmas have a lot of Pagan rituals in it? Maybe I'm thinking of something else.
