As much as I sympathize with the family, when a phobia interferes with a necessary function of your body, you need to check her into a hospital.
In a statement read out to the court, Emily's brother-in-law, Brian Herbert, said the family had tried a number of different remedies for her bowel condition. They included homeopathic pills, and a technique known as Body Talk, which involved so-called "distance healing".
Yup.
Mine was a snake coming up and biting my asshole.
This is more of a 90's kid thing, but my brother and I had an entire more terrifying thought of what might come out of the toilet... I can't imagine the pain of not passing a stool for EIGHT WEEKS. I've gone for a almost a week once, long story, and I was in absolute agony. And it took me like an hour to pass it after that because it practically turns to stone inside of you after too long. It's a real testament to just how strong a phobia like this can be, seriously. Imagine being in that much pain... sleeping, eating, going to school, talking to people, but still enduring all of that until it KILLS you. Can't get my head around it.
Yea painkillers have a habit of constipating and I've had my run in with opiates and let me tell you a few days without pooping can cause some severe stomach pains. can't imagine 2 fricken months.
Is this real? I'm pretty sure your bowel will let go regardless of how much you fight it
Apparently fucking not.
Surely she could have done something, shit on the floor if you have to, or even a bucket. Anything would be a better alternative than letting shit sit in your body for that long.
Would've made a great scat movie if she was able to pass it.
One time at Boy Scout camp, I ate nothing but cheese and milk (because the food there was shitty) and refused to use the toilet (because there were Black Widow spiders there.) Dumbest fucking thing I've ever done, it could've been severely bad for me. However, when I did get home and use the toilet, it wasn't bad at all, there was no pain, nothing really felt bad with me.
Was the actually afraid of toilets or just the act of shitting itself? If she just didn't like toilets I think she would find somewhere else to do it.

Not positive of the laws there but surely since she wasnt 18 yet and living under her parents roof they could have forced her to be treated properly somehow. Really unfortunate
-snip- Wrong tab. :v:
Surely she could have done something, shit on the floor if you have to, or even a bucket. Anything would be a better alternative than letting shit sit in your body for that long.
Well, technically, once you poop in it, it becomes a toilet.
Wouldn't the body naturally take over while she's asleep? I mean the body would resort to anything to stay alive. I may be wrong but I still can't grasp this phobia.... Is it a fear of toilets or the fear of the removal of the excrement from her body? I'm assuming the latter as she didn't just do it in a back alleyway to get over and done with.
She probably let everything go when the EMT's were doing CPR and using the defibrillator if she had a heart attack. :/
Would've made a great scat movie if she was able to pass it.
what the fuck dude
She probably let everything go when the EMT's were doing CPR and using the defibrillator if she had a heart attack. :/
When you don't defecate for that long, your faeces will solidify into an immobile lump that plugs up the rectum. The most that would have come out is possibly some overflow diarrhoea.
I know some people don't use public toilets or have other small conditions related to this topic, but I've never heard of an outright toilet phobia at this age. But then autistic kids often have weird fixations on their bowels/bowel movements and it's not that surprising to see it carry into the late teens, especially considering the parent's idea of treatment is bullshit like homeopathy. Wouldn't be surprised if they were the anti-vaxxer bleach enema type too.
You know, just curious :^)
We all now know your fetish.
that's another entry into my list of "sentences that should never be said"
i guess you don't really want to know the term for that either [sp]it's paradoxical diarrhea[/sp]
i guess you don't really want to know the term for that either [sp]it's paradoxical diarrhea[/sp]
Paradoxical diarrhea? Is this like pooping back in time or something? But seriously it's interesting that there is a term for this specific instance of diarrhea. Medicine tends to get oddly specific with its terminology.
Social norms that do no impede "phobias" or "triggers" like this one are completely ridiculous. Ridicule serves a fucking purpose, even in this day and age.
