I'm pretty sure South Korea is ready for an invasion from the North. They've technically been at war for a while now.
They're still technically at war from the 50's man, USA is still technically at war with NK as well. We're only under a cease-fire.
Citation needed. They lost it all.
How do you think they invaded China so easily? They had a lot more aircraft.
How do you think they invaded China so easily? They had a lot more aircraft.
China was a shit army and the Nationalists were fighting off the Communists at the same time as the Japanese. They got pushed out of there just as easily by American planes after a bit of a fight.
well you shouldnt have joined it should you? what do you expect?
fighting doesn't worry me. but Korea? really?
The Zero was a better plane to begin with but just because the US didn't know what to do and had really shitty old planes. After a bit, they got better and learned not to dogfight with them and got much more effective. The Zero still had no armour and went down easy as shit though, all you need is a clear run at it.
Not really. America had some pretty rugged planes then. The Zero's outdatedness near the end of the war is one of the reasons they were being used for Kamikaze attacks (rather than scrapping them).
I'm pretty sure most people are forgetting that North Korea is practically starving and is reportedly having serious issues with there people following the government. The U.S and SK would easily win eventually if they attacked there infrastructure and farms. I personally think this whole fiasco is about putting North Korea's new leader on the spot and making him look weak and only words to get the people to rise up.
Maybe back then, but not now. Victory is decided by the person with the biggest weapon, the longest ranged artillery, the best tracking systems. Having numbers doesn't mean shit.
Koreans! Tonight we dine in hell.
Actually it's incredibly weak, just very large. Their soldiers are underfed and most of their equipment is still from the cold war.
ra ra ra eat m1 garand american skrum bag
fighting doesn't worry me. but Korea? really?
I'm joining after college. (Going to a military college) I was hoping I would atleast fight in the desert, but the jungle and shit. This is gonna suck. Also the fact, i'm gonna try to go for Army Rangers.
Ugh...please don't join and fight for nothing...you're not fighting for your country, you're fighting for the government's stupid ideas.
His choice, besides if he did get sent to fight in korea he would be helping to free a few million people from an oppressive regime, and they would all get some food.
ye i dont think so
whoa they have clones
Ugh...please don't join and fight for nothing...you're not fighting for your country, you're fighting for the government's stupid ideas.
I don't like my government, but I am joining so when I have kids, they won't have to, and maybe they can say "Hey, my dad went to war for me instead of letting me go" Alot of military guys don't like the gov. anyways, they join for their families. It's not that bad of a job, just got to know that you are gonna have to make sacrifices.
You won't make shit in the military as a soldier.
If he is at a military college he's most likely joining as an officer. At least that's how it works in the UK, do a year at Sandhurst and you are finished officer training.
If he is at a military college he's most likely joining as an officer. At least that's how it works in the UK, do a year at Sandhurst and you are finished officer training.
That's cheating...
I really think that it may be better to just go on and get this over with. NK is just being a thorn in everyones side, killing a few South Koreans every now and then and making life a living hell for everyone living in NK. They have a large army, but that army is also using old equipment. It really isn't much match for any attack from multiple countries.
If he is at a military college he's most likely joining as an officer. At least that's how it works in the UK, do a year at Sandhurst and you are finished officer training.
Plus the fact that I am in JROTC. That is how it works over here to.
You won't make shit in the military as a soldier.
The pay seems low, but you are exempt from many taxes and have living quarters provided for you. Then once you get out, you can go to college while the military pays for it.
Too bad they have the 4th largest standing army in the world. We can't really declare war on them without serious repurcussions and death-- even though I fucking hate the scum that run that foul, piss ridden hole. If I were in a room with Kim Jong Il with no contact to the outside and no chance of me being held responsible for my actions, I'd strangle that frail little bastard.

Might as well do what we can while they are still below us.
Also, the military has many, many benefits. Low pay-- but you don't pay for food, water, shelter or your own education so you've got a lot of money regardless.
That's cheating...
...how? You do a years training in being an officer then get your position as an officer, where's the cheating?

The US has an incredibly powerful Air Force, not to mention about half of the them would probably end up deserting if something happened. Their military probably is restricted almost as much as their people.
...how? You do a years training in being an officer then get your position as an officer, where's the cheating?
That's easier than going through the normal channels. i.e. basic training, and working your way up the ranks starting from a grunt. Starting in an academy is taking the easy way out.
Fair enough. Just my opinion...
I like how this didn't end up into a flame war. I do say, a spot of tea would do good right now. [editline]2nd December 2010[/editline] I still gotta do basic if I want to be a Ranger.
Everyone has to do basic, it's just six months of working out and whatnot, not THAT big of a deal. I'm talking about dealing with all the b/s from officers and stuff while you're still a grunt. In an academy, it's MUCH easier and MUCH "friendlier."
Starting in an academy is taking the easy way out.
Are you kidding me. You sure like to talk out of your ass, don't you. Academies are for intelligent soldiers that can prove their worth intellectually as well as physically-- so yeah, they take a couple shortcuts, but its all for the better. Let the blockheads do the grunt work.. There's a reason you see talented leaders at young ages, and that's because the infrastructure allows for them to prove their worth without going through years of the dirty work.
