The Red Army was a complete mess at the time, plus most of the troops sent to Finland were not used to the horrendous winter conditions, among other factors. None of those factors are applicable in the Korean context.
That and the Finnish army's ingenuity, patriotism and determination combined with the ridiculous amount of support on the homefront...
Theres more than 150 AAA positions only around the capital of north korea. There are only what have been spotted with google earth. "if they were all to fire at once they’d throw up over 63,000t of high explosive shells in the first minute – think about that, that’s more than the weight of an Iowa class battleship, and it’s travelling at about Mach 2! " [img_thumb]http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/2903/dprkaaatypicalha9.jpg[/img_thumb] They mostly use Twin 57mm guns of the ZSU-57-2 SPPAG ZPU-4 14.5mm quad machine gun M-1939 37mm AAA S-60 57mm AAA North Korean S-60 57mm
We have bombers that can go higher than that...
That's easier than going through the normal channels. i.e. basic training, and working your way up the ranks starting from a grunt. Starting in an academy is taking the easy way out.
It's no more cheating than choosing to work at a factory as a worker, or work as an executive.
Is it just me or is this war necessary? I mean North Korea can't live in a capitalist world like this forever. They need and eventually will to be a war anyway. So by waiting we are basically giving them more time to create nukes and chemical weapons. Basically the longer we wait the bigger their destructive capabilities become.
Back then we didn't have better guns/ better bombs/ better [You name it!].
Germany did, and the Red Army still fucked them up.
That and the Finnish army's ingenuity, patriotism and determination combined with the ridiculous amount of support on the homefront...
The Norks have the last 3 as well. Maybe the first, but we won't know until war breaks out.
Remember that our artillery will out fire, out range, and out kill anything they have. Our planes will out fly anything they have, our tanks will fuck their tanks like they were virgin pussies, while our guns shoot farther and faster than theirs. Their shit is weak.
This does not matter so much given NK has enough artillery centered on Seoul to turn it into a big series of craters in a day.

Really, delaying action hurts worse than just getting it over with.
There's no timely or efficient way of "just getting it over with". No matter how outdated their technology is, they have an absolutely goliath army and both sides will likely face a lot of casualties.
Inferior tech is still able to kill people, are you unable to grasp that? They have numbers on there side, and remember the war on the eastern front? remember how the russians with their inferior gear managed to halt the german advance MILES from stalingrad, and then fucking hammered the germans all the way back across russia and straight into berlin? Inferior tech, with numbers on its side still stands a chance.
850 calories per day for North Korean combat pilots, who receive the best rations below commanding officers and the like.
Is it war or what? Seriously, answer the damn question Korea.
Is it war or what? Seriously, answer the damn question Korea.
They're very lost, confused people.

High flying strategic and tactical aircraft would be largely unaffected.
Reading all these threads on NK makes me want to play Mercinaries: Playground of Destruction
With weapons like these, that are so far out of the NK Military's reach, it would only be a matter of time before they capitulate or are destroyed. Strategic bombing of North Korea's military assets with no way of defending them would render their military almost useless, no matter how large they are. It doesn't matter if it's one hundred people or one hundred thousand people, no number of human beings can stop carpet bombing.

Academies have been the way to become an officer since there were organised military structures, it's not the easy way it's the sensible way.
I love how FP thinks warfare is all about technology and numbers. Training and leadership are the two largest factors in warfare.
ye i dont think so
A picture of Lenin docent deserve to be in that shit hole.
Artillery from world war 1 will still kill people dumbass. Artillery is artillery, tanks are tanks and guns are guns, they all do the same job.
Whats the point if the army doesn't have the training to use it? Sure, they have some new and some outdated tech and a huge force, But their training, Is absolute SHIT.
Korea should just unite already. Under the ruling of Glorious leader of course though.
North Korea collapsed economically a short while after Soviet support ended. While this isn't their first "collapse", they have utterly failed to recover from this one. Supposedly, their army has been fed grass clippings from time to time due to food shortages. Considering how highly militarized the state is, one can assume that their military is the most well fed part of their population short of the inner party. So, with that in mind, the whole "million man army" thing means a lot less. They are having trouble feeding their army in peace time. Bombing campaigns on their supply lines would stretch food supplies to an even greater extent, and a starving army can't fight. As some modern day historians such as Faze have apparently forgotten, the Chinese and Soviets also gave tremendous backing to the North Koreans in the first war. This was before the North's economic collapse, and before the South had an established military, economy, and government. Chinese soldiers alone accounted for some 200,000 of the communist casualties in the war. North Korea can't count on that support again. From what we know about the North Korean military, I think it's clear they can't fight a real war.
You won't make shit in the military as a soldier.
You get paid per hour for the full time of service, the money just builds up to huge amounts. Mainly depends on how long you stay in the military.
You get paid per hour for the full time of service, the money just builds up to huge amounts. Mainly depends on how long you stay in the military.
Umm. No, definitely not. The salary is below average, if anything. A US grunt gets paid something like 20 thousand yearly. And that's considering they still spend their money while they are in service on things like junk food, weapon and gear upgrades, etc.
Artillery from world war 1 will still kill people dumbass. Artillery is artillery, tanks are tanks and guns are guns, they all do the same job.
yes musket firing lines will destroy a modern army, guns are guns, what was i thinking!

And that free housing, clothing and food persists for the span of the career.

Have you ever looked at Arirang as an example of what the North Koreans can drill into people? Their army also isn't anywhere nearly as poorly fed as the rest of the populous. The main reason no one else eats is that what little food they have first goes to the ruling class, and then to the military. Because of the constant shortage, this leaves no food for anyone else.
