*Says everything is going to be ok, yet a luminous orange fog rolled over our uncharacteristically quiet US/Canada border town of Victoria*
yea nope, we die tomorrow.
as warren put it to the new education secretary. "the financial outcomes of an entire generation of students is in your hands and you have no experience at all."
Also the repeal of the ACA by Trump and the Republicans will cause more than 24 million people to lose their healthcare coverage since there's no decent alternatives being proposed currently (Rand Paul's is absolute shit, for those who bring it up; this has been discussed already). Goodbye to that guys, so sorry you, your kids, and future generations of your families will continue to be needlessly fucked over.
Also the EPA is going to be run by one of the biggest climate change deniers in all of DC (Scott Pruitt). He basically entered Washington with the fossil fuel industry's cock happily shoved down his throat. There's discussion in Congress currently of also rolling back endangered species protections and conservation measures so the logging industry, mining companies, etc. can roll into what used to be off-limits natural areas and exploit the fuck out of them. Oh well, not like that stuff was a big deal anyway... right? I wonder how former-Exxon CEO and now Secretary of State Rex Tillerson feels about this...
How about that comprehensive immigration reform plan of Trump's-- the one that will start throwing our cheap labor back over the border, which is basically what sustains our agricultural sector at the moment since Lord knows that almost nobody who's a native to this country wants to do that kind of hard work for scab pay, resulting in a sharp increase in food prices and decrease in farm income-- that's slated to devastate our economy as a result? Or how about that tax plan of his that would slash our revenue (by anywhere between $4.4-$5.9 trillion) and cause the national deficit to soar, which is also extremely bad news for the global economy (since it basically, you know, hinges around us)?
But don't worry guys, let's just keep saying that everything will be fine-- even though every available sign at this point says that no it won't be.:downs:
Man is there a lot of idiocy to deal with these days. Much more than usual.

I believe this has already happened, actually. I'm happy to talk about that specifically when it doesn't derail the thread.
So you're happy to derail this thread to talk about BLM behaving like babies and mobsters being supposedly egged on by Obama, but you're not up for derailing it to talk about Trump outright inciting intolerance and violence against other people?
How fucking brainfucked are you mate?
fucks sake dude i don't like trump either but calm the fuck down
Eh, It seems dramatic but he's right to be concerned.
Since the conservative party were elected in my country our public services and healthcare system have been sabotaged non-stop to accelerate privatisation, and millions of pounds have been spent to reform our welfare state into a system designed to change the behaviour of the most vulnerable people in our society through the application of suffering.
Thousands of people died as a result of these actions, Actions that would fall perfectly in line with typical republican policy- and even reflect some of Trump's propositions such as scrapping the ACA. (with the republicans there is also the added concern that half of them are religious fanatics and are looking to discriminate based on that).
Trump isn't going to roll out cyborg death-squads, and it's pretty unlikely that he's actually going to start anything too serious by shitposting on twitter- but the bottom line is that these kind of governments are never good news for the poor and the vulnerable.
