They also said...Hardline were different games from BF3.
Who? EA or DICE? Because DICE is the one who says Battlefront will be different from Battlefield.
Anyways this is their first new game under the license, I don't think they want to fuck this up

Considering how they said in their videos that they are all fans of Star Wars franchise, I think they want to make it as good as possible as much as anyone else.

Well obviously. I doubt EA marketing would let anything less get out. I dont doubt that they are massive fans and want to make it great though, More that EA execs still have the finger on the big red "release" button, regardless if they devs think its good enough to ship or not
Battlefront 2 tried to be gritty as shit, and mostly succeeded in the campaign. Little things like native hunt were really the only 'campy silliness' in it.
And it's not like Battlefield doesn't have any humor.

IMHO, I'm sick of every new game being tongue in cheek self parody, as that seems to be the new trend. I just want big bot battle single player and I'm fine.
well they had that BTS footage last E3 where they actually went to the Skywalker Ranch and filming locations from the films for references.
The Hoth and Endor rebels look SO much better than the Tantive-IV's rebel troopers, though.

the hoth rebels are okay. i just find all their other designs really dull is all, they're just kinda generic GI Joe types to me. like if you just said "soldier man" to a concept artist he would draw a rebel trooper. but again i'm sure that was largely intentional from a design standpoint
Well at that point in the timeline they're an organized military force. Not just a rag tag group.
It's this weird aesthetic the series has with sagas and ages. The Prequels have some cool-looking things, the sleek sci-fi style combined with a worn-down look, while the Original Trilogy is much more.. stock, with the dinky stormtroopers and casual looking rebels with big doofy hats or bright orange pilot suits. But then the more practical designs of the original trilogy win out compared to the heavy and fake-looking CGI for almost everything in the prequels.
The further back you get, the sleeker and fancier things get, for the most part. The further forward you go, the more worn down and retro-futuristic everything looks.
Especially with the weird ass comics back in the day.
Essentially speaking, the Empire really screwed things up. If you look at, for instance, the interiors of the Tantive IV, you can see what Imperial vessels designed for dignitaries were like. We see the very richest people on Coruscant and Kamino in the prequels- and the Clone Army evolves from both. When you see the stuff on Tatooine and even the lower levels of Coruscant, everything's a lot more grimy and OT-like.
The Rebel armour, I imagine, was probably originally derived from whatever the groups who formed it could find. Then, I expect it became somewhat iconic (like Che Guavera's hat), so when they became a full, organised military force, they mass-produced it based on those old jury-rigged ideas.
When the Rebel Alliance becomes the New Republic they get an actual set of standardized armor.
I never liked the Rebels. I always felt they were the designated good guys, and that made them less interesting. Of course there has to be a good side, but it always felt significantly less interesting. This is simply my opinion of course, but:
I thought the Empire was pretty cool. They had impressive as fuck starships and vehicles, the Stromtroopers were sympathetic since they were mostly portrayed as incompetent fools who just clock into work and do what they are hired to do.
Clones were similar to the above, but I liked them more. I felt their starships and vehicles were the best of all the armies, the Clones were charismatic but dedicated to doing their job. And they did it properly.
And the droids I didn't mind. I thought their starships and vehicles were alright, the B1s had a bumbling foolishness to them that was endearing.
And then the Rebels. Heroes simply by being against the Empire, I never really liked their starships or vehicles as I felt they didn't have the powerful feel of the other armies, and the fact that all I can think of to comment on is the vehicles shows how unmemorable they were to me.
Sorely disappointed the Clones Wars got cut out of this game. I'll probably buy it but it's a whole half of the previous 2 games gone.
Agreed, give me a TIE over an X-Wing any day.
I don't need shields.
