It's hilarious how fast this died.
It's an interesting look into memes. It got super popular and went viral and then seemingly within hours the greater internet consensus decided that it had been enough.
I thought it was unfunny to begin with. :v:
I cant fucking stand the music of today, it just sounds like very vaguely composed noise. im old at the age of 19
I cant fucking stand the music of today, it just sounds like very vaguely composed noise. im old at the age of 19
so edgy i just cut myself
Heres the thing, the vast majority of facepunch is supportive of public nudity according to past threads. So why ain't they saying it's wrong that they got locked up for underwear, not fined, but locked up. Clearly facepunch is being biased because it's harlem shake.
maybe facepunch users are just rightfully cynical about idiotic people that follow internet trends and are glad to see authorities purging the plague from the streets. and another thing is, egypt is like the tyranny capital of the world. if you're born in egypt and you have any interest in having any sort of freedom, chances are you'd leave egypt. but what use would lemmings like these have for freedom?
so edgy i just cut myself
The boyband-metal emo crap im sure youre eluding to is just as bland and boring.
The boyband-metal emo crap im sure youre eluding to is just as bland and boring.
you know the reason that older music seems good is because only the good songs got remembered, right? give it twenty years and we'll see if anyone can tell you as much about Linkin Park as they can about Led Zeppelin
It was dead on its arrival.
1 week ago you were making posts about how funny it is. Make up your goddamn mind.
imo if it werent for this guy it wouldnt have blown up so fast. I still think the remakes are so stupid
Holy fucking hypocrisy Facepunch, are you all fucking retarded? I hope everyone who rated the OP winner gets arrested for farting in public or some other bullshit reason that someone might find slightly offensive. Hell, why don't we start executing people for possession of marijuana or piracy while we're at it? Yeah, I don't think harlem shake is funny either, but arresting people for having some harmless fun is just wrong.
you know the reason that older music seems good is because only the good songs got remembered, right? give it twenty years and we'll see if anyone can tell you as much about Linkin Park as they can about Led Zeppelin
go listen to every beatles album from rubber soul to abbey road and name a bad song. ''only the good songs get remembered'' then explain how frank sinatra is still relevant? it has nothing to do with old music being good, there are just eras of music that are bad, and we're in one. the classical era of composers like beethoven produced excellent music, whereas almost nothing of any quality was created from the 1920s to the 1950s. it was only when black american music started to take form that anything with any merit was produced. the 80s were just as bad as the current era too, nothing but power ballads and bad synth pop. 90s were great and now we're here in the era of justin bieber and skrillex.
or maybe music is subjective and the only reason you hold onto the idea that older music was better is because it fills in for your insecurities out of social inferiority
quality and artistic merit are not subjective. you can like or dislike a song or band, but factual arguments can be made about them. Rush are undeniably one of the most musically talented bands in history, but I can't stand the sound of their music and avoid it vigilantly. it's clear that you're only responding out of your own insecurity, since you're arguing that old music isn't better when in fact the point I made was that the age is irrelevant and it's the era that is associated with musical quality.
quality and artistic merit are not subjective.
uh they are lol
uh they are lol
no, they're not. you can say a guy strumming the same chord for 30 seconds is more creative than writing a symphony, you'd be wrong. your anime picture speaks volumes, and I have zero motivation to continue speaking to one of YOU. enjoy your dubstep beats.
no, they're not. you can say a guy strumming the same chord for 30 seconds is more creative than writing a symphony, you'd be wrong. your anime picture speaks volumes, and I have zero motivation to continue speaking to one of YOU. enjoy your dubstep beats.
explain to me how they are objective then baby
explain to me how they are objective then baby
I just did. there are factual aspects of any form of art to take into account. originality, structural complexity, cultural relevance, production quality etc. where skrillex is hitting buttons and making obnoxious electronic sounds, jim morrison was using greek mythology as an analogy for his feelings of hopelessness. bob dylan was challenging a country that called itself free but harbored modern slaves. pete townshend was writing an opera that conceptualized the internet before it ever existed.
I just did. there are factual aspects of any form of art to take into account. originality, structural complexity, cultural relevance, production quality etc
all of those bar 1 are subjective and i hardly doubt you're going to base whether or not a song is good based off of its structural complexity
So, not liking a viral something or other is hipster now?
Its just a bunch of dudes shaking their arms to music, how is that amusing? Even worse when everyone and their dog must absolutely replicate it.
all of those bar 1 are subjective and i hardly doubt you're going to base whether or not a song is good based off of its structural complexity
assuming you meant ''highly'' that was a pretty 12 year old anime fan thing to say.
assuming you meant ''highly'' that was a pretty 12 year old anime fan thing to say.
you're not very good at debating are you you're supposed to counter my point intellectually, not further my beliefs that you are highly insecure about what society percieves of you
you're not very good at debating are you you're supposed to counter my point intellectually, not further my beliefs that you are highly insecure about what society percieves of you
I mean, you claimed structural complexity is irrelevant to musical quality. I'm not going to debate a brick wall.
I mean, you claimed structural complexity is irrelevant to musical quality. I'm not going to debate a brick wall.
some of the most successful songs in history have been the simplest. what's your point?
some of the most successful songs in history have been the simplest. what's your point?
that's like saying good gameplay doesn't make a good game, because heavy rain is good and doesn't have gameplay at all. absolutely shit logic.
that's like saying good gameplay doesn't make a good game, because heavy rain is good and doesn't have gameplay at all. absolutely shit logic.
it's all opinions, baby! that's the beauty of human subjectivity. it's why one person thinks heavy rain is a good game, and another thinks its bad in comparison to call of duty. here's some reading material to get you going: http://answers.ask.com/Society/Philosophy/what_is_subjectivity understanding what subjectivity is can be very important for the big wide world! you won't be taken seriously if you don't understand that opinions are subject to the beholder.
If it was Iran, they'd be stoned already.
You have to be stoned if you enjoy harlem shake.
You have to be stoned if you enjoy harlem shake.
I'm usually stoned and I still can't stand that shit.
I cant fucking stand the music of today, it just sounds like very vaguely composed noise. im old at the age of 19
yeah tbh why cant every band just copy the exact sound of pink floyd and led zeppelin.. that is TRUE music..
It's fucking flesh. Grow up. You guys watch tons of porn but a guy in his underwear is bad? Keep sheltering your kids from nature America, it'll help them from becoming tramuatized by a nipple.
Oh yeah, it should be totally legal to walk around town where kids would also be in our underwear, great idea.
go listen to every beatles album from rubber soul to abbey road and name a bad song.
maxwell's silver hammer, mean mr. mustard, rocky raccoon those songs SUCK
whereas almost nothing of any quality was created from the 1920s to the 1950s. it was only when black american music started to take form that anything with any merit was produced. the 80s were just as bad as the current era too, nothing but power ballads and bad synth pop.
you dont know fucking anything about music history wow apparently jazz isnt black american music lol and the 80's only has power ballads and bad synth pop if you're bad at finding music, stop being bad and start with Siouxie and some Sonic Youth
