stalin was kind of a dick [editline]Edited:[/editline] he sent one of my grandfathers to a gulag and starved him to death grandmother was sent to siberia and died there other grandfather died "mysteriously in the woods of a heart attack" with a bullet in his head other grandmother was sent to siberia too but survived and came back
Great Uncle Dietric died in a Soviet POW camp around 1944. Only one of the boys to not come back home.
Stalin was a terrible man and did practically nothing to help win the War which wouldn't already be done by a normal leader. Purging the most of the militairy top was just one of his enormous blunders, idolizing him is naive.
so why are you russians allowed to put a picture of a mass murderer in you cities Russia sort of sucked with the soviets just to let you know
It still perplexes me as to why Russians uphold Stalin in such a good light.
so why are you russians allowed to put a picture of a mass murderer in you cities Russia sort of sucked with the soviets just to let you know
Well under the soviets they managed to send a man to space. Thats kind of an accomplishment.
It still perplexes me as to why Russians uphold Stalin in such a good light.
Maybe they miss the good ol' days.
The overwhelming casualties at Stalingrad are a direct result of the massive hubris's of Hitler and Stalin crashing together at some arbitrary city. Stalin really shouldn't be glorified because of it. It's unfortunate that they are crediting Stalin with the victory when it was really Chuikov and the other soviet commanders who actually had the handle the gruntwork of leadership in that shitfest of a battle.
Well under the soviets they managed to send a man to space. Thats kind of an accomplishment.
yeah but the space race was a guise for testing rocket technology [editline]31st January 2013[/editline]
Lives in the United States, asks why freedom is allowed.
I mean why are you praising a fascist dictator
I guess its too early to put hitlers face on a bus in berlin to honour the german war dead Got to start somewhere i guess /sarcasm
when did something not making strategic sense stop the russians lol [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_of_Trotskyist_Anti-Soviet_Military_Organization [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] stalin had already shown he didn't give much of a shit about marching millions of innocent people on a one-way trip to siberia, all he had to do was make them go on a one-way trip in the other direction
what do you mean? the great purge was great from a strategic point of view. in totalitarian societies it's fairly common for the leader to(at some point) purge out the people who assisted him to get into power. hitler did it with the sturmabteilung, stalin with the old bolsheviks, and im sure you can find many more examples. it's how dictators solidify power.
yeah but the space race was a guise for testing rocket technology [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] I mean why are you praising a fascist dictator
How am I praising a dictator by telling history?
How am I praising a dictator by telling history?
so that Italian PM Bersciloni wasn't wrong to praise Mussolini? I mean yeah Stalingrad sucked donkey balls and its russian history but why remember Stalin for it, remember the soldiers. That's like praising bush when you remember Afghanistan War
so that Italian PM Bersciloni wasn't wrong to praise Mussolini? Ironic that RT always tries to make America look bad yet they flaunt the fact that their country is praising a horrible dictator.
Ironic that RT always tries to make America look bad yet they flaunt the fact that their country is praising a horrible dictator.
I have to ask, but did you read the article? [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] I mean, nowhere does it flaunt the praising of Stalin, and its a unbias article as it has quotes from both KPRF and UR.. Can people please at least skim the articles, at the very least?
Bloody stupid, they should have used an iconic image of a soviet soldier, rather than that dickbag Stalin. Or something symbolic like this or this Would be much better.
“We don’t paint swastikas. Thank God, Communist ideology and Stalin’s image have not been officially condemned. We only urge the preservation of memory of the WWII victory and people who contributed to it,”
If you want someone who contributed to the WWII victory, use a picture of Zhukov or Chuikov, or some other Soviet general, not Stalin.
stalin was kind of a dick [editline]Edited:[/editline] he sent one of my grandfathers to a gulag and starved him to death grandmother was sent to siberia and died there other grandfather died "mysteriously in the woods of a heart attack" with a bullet in his head other grandmother was sent to siberia too but survived and came back
Stalin was a scummy piece of shit, and anyone who genuinely likes him and agrees with what he did is a stupid waste of air.

My own grand parents managed to escape just before the Bolsheviks took over. Sorry for your loss.
"Vitaly Milonov, a member of the ruling United Russia party, said he wished he could ban the initiative outright, and that Russia’s victory in World War II had been earned “by people’s blood, but not Stalin’s.”" It's kind of nice that there are Russian politicians who don't praise Stalin, but rather the millions who died fighting, especially in Russia's current ruling party.
