i'm calling this is a hoax. the portable looks like an iphone mockup with some phony joysticks tacked on.
it looks like a PSP and a DS fucked an iphone and a Game gear.
actually looks pretty neat all things considering.
The NeoGeo X is an upcoming arcade system board...
Does this mean SNK's coming back to the arcade?
Who possibly would buy this except die-hard retro fans?
That thing looks sleek as fuck
but a fucking toaster can emulate a Neo Geo
You're willing to pay $200 for Metal Slug?
Some people have spent more than that at arcades playing that game.

I REMEMBER VIETNAM.
You can run most of those games on an IOS/Android anyway, so theres really no point in getting this.
Plus there's loads of cheap handhelds like the Dingoo, the Canoo or the Wiz that emulate the Neo Geo.
That was then, this is now.
As said above, you can pretty much get Metal Slug to run on your toilet seat. If you want to play Metal Slug there are MUCH MUCH cheaper ways to do it.
But not exactly as legal as buying a Neo Geo X to play them.
You can download Metal Slug 3 in the app store for $7.50
I'd rather just drop $50 more and pick up a Vita.
In a while, you can probably emulate Neo-Geo games on it anyways.
IOS/Android??
that's what I meant
but since typing on facepunch on a phone is the worst thing known to man...
Not worth 200, especially in an age where people don't care for handheld games anymore
BAFFLING THINGS SAID BY BACONATOR
-Nobody reads any comic book other than Batman
-Nobody likes handheld games
I think I'm seeing a trend, here. . .
Spend $50 less and get a 3DS... Always bet on a Nintendo console being worth the price.
Or you can just get an old used old psp and put an emulator on it for 100$ that can run any old console game and some newish ones.
Or I could just get an android phone and emulate.

You got a problem with Metal Slug?
Except he is right, the Vita & 3DS are selling at a pitiful rate.
Partly because of smartphones replacing them.
Smartphone games are still handheld games.
Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
Back in the Neo Geo MVS heyday, the system itself went for $599 (and stayed there for a long time.) And games that had the luck of being made in volume were $299 a piece. Lesser known titles and rare games were known to fetch prices in the thousands of dollar range, and some only had a handful of carts made ever.
$199 for a console, controller and handheld with only 20 games is not worth it, considering most every Neo Geo has been emulated or ported to other platforms. If SNK had made a system that actually had some multifunctionality, it might have been worth it.
Where the fuck is Windrunner?

It's sad though, because it's so much better to play a game on something made for games than to rely entirely on a damn touchscreen.
Man, back in the day, I tried everything to get my hands on a copy of Metal Slug but the only way would have been a neo geo and those were collector's items way out of my 10 year old's price league. I would have loved something like this.
Well, these days there's emulators and stuff, so yeah, it's neat but I doubt many people other than fans will buy it

If the price of $199 for the current lineup is true, then that would make it possibly cheaper than what this upcoming generation of consoles will bring. And by the sounds of it, it seems SNK might also be making new games for it.
