I hate how social conservatism is usually treated like just another legitimate ideology in the political spectrum. It's oppressive and wrong.
I really don't see how a person can disagree with Social Conservatism being oppressive and wrong. It's literally their mission to be oppressive to everyone who isn't them.
The idea of self reliance and smaller government is a fine idea. Respectable at the least. However the new breed of ultra conservative's IS a problem.
You need a mixture between that and the left as well, otherwise everyone's fucked. But American politics are fucking dumb, and all the extremists are just a bunch of annoying pricks on both sides that seriously can't stand the fucking fact that anyone disagree's with their views. Now watch as Thisispain or Sickle flames me for saying this because they're one of these extremes.
self-reliance and smaller government aren't conservative ideas unless you want to call anarchists conservative.
Anarchists do hold some conservative ideals.
Anarchist does not automatically equal liberal in every way.
Politico spoke to numerous conservatives; many involved in local political movements, who are turning away from Fox News to more ideologically rigid websites, and, in a couple inexplicable cases, CNN.
So let me understand this correctly, in response to your favorite "News" Channel moving towards the center for a change, you decide to go watch another channel that's on the other side of the Center.
What the fuck is with conservatives? :v:

It seems strange to me that social conservatives often identify themselves as such. Its just such a ridiculous sounding ideology that you'd think they'd try to distance themselves from the term like how most racists will never call themselves racists.
I hate Fox News.
This coming from a conservative too.

Hence the term "inexplicable."
I think this is a real problem. Now with the extremely far-right abandoning Fox, they are now in their own secure havens where they can share and possibly spread their ignorance. Further down the road, I think we'll actually see a resurgence in conservative extremists.
