Comcast offers 105MBit service, with a 250GB data cap. Lasts for 5 hours.

To be fair, the amount of downloading time doesn't really matter. 250gb is 250gb. On my crap connection if I download a game on Steam, say Left 4 Dead it might take me 3 or 4 hours, but on this Comcast service it would take a few minutes. You're downloading the same amount, just in less time.
The cap is still stupid, I dont' know why anyone would buy a 100mb/s service and get capped like that.
My VPS in Germany has a 100mb/s connection with no bandwidth cap and it only costs me $15 a month. And yeah, the connection is shared with other servers in the facility, but so are home connections.
I don't know about you guys, but 250gb cap with 100mb is still better than 250gp cap with anything slower...
If you're going to complain, complain about the cap in general; it is a bit low, regardless of how fast it is. However, if you don't process 250gb in a month, then what exactly is the problem?
I mean, essentially, you guys are complaining about it being too fast, as if it would be better if it were slower. Just because you can run out your service in 5 hours if you wanted to, doesn't mean you have to, or even that it would be easy.
Yeah exactly. Just browsing Facepunch or something isn't going to use up your cap faster. You're still downloading the same amount of data. You can download games and movies faster, but unless you're like "hurr durr" and download the same game 10 times just because you can. You aren't using more bandwidth than you would have with a slower service.
Quit yo bitchin... i get 40gb and 1mb.... and thats the best account... £40 a month... everyone else here gets speeds of about 10 - 50k and 20gb...
AAARRRGGG!!!

I get 17.5MB down and 2.1MB up, at least I get a static IP and no caps or throttling
Who's your ISP?

You're forgetting that the VPS is on a dedicated server in a huge datacenter, meant exactly for this kind of task.
When they built the place, they were designed the place to have racks and racks of servers and shitloads of fiber coming into the place. That was taken into account when looking for a location and building it.
Your house, however, was built to be lived in by humans.
Back when phones became popular, they had to drag copper cables into houses and it was a struggle, exactly the way that getting fiber is a struggle right now.
Payphones were designed for their purpose too, they'd usually be next to a working phone line that it would utilize and it was only meant for making phonecalls. The location in which one was setup was based on where it could actually be done, and where it would be profitable to be done in.
It's not profitable to deliver fiber to you, the setup fees and monthly payments would be so big nobody would buy it. And they'd have to upgrade their infrastructure to support the additional bandwidth requirements, which would cost even more.
If you want fiber, go live in a datacenter or get the government to run a public ISP that provides service even when it's not profitable.
i wanna live in downtown san francisco so i can have that superfast and cheap fiber-optic internet

As I said, ~$50 a month, no caps.
Question: Why does the upload speeds in the UK suck so hard, what's stopping it from being faster, I don't get it
Fuck, five measly hours a month? I spend more than five hours on the internet per day. I know it's sad, but my social life is on the internet. I love spending time on Facepunch, Wikipeda, and Zombie Panic! Source.

We can get 1Gbps now if we want, for ~100$ a month. No cap.

So does that mean I could only watch five hours worth of Youtube videos?
No, it means you can only dowload up to 250 GB of data in a given month before you're throttled.
I don't experience any of the shit portion of Comcast because my family just said fuck it and bought business class instead. No cap as well.
Still sucks dick compared to the speeds above, and it's $100 a month for 50mbps with 4mbps upload.
I had comcast several times between 04 and 07, for what I did at the time it was acceptable (social networking and flash games) but I remember the outages were a mother fucker because they would last hours if not days. We moved out of the service area about 3 months before the instilled the cap.
Fuck Comcast. Their shit keeps dying here. Admittedly, it's been WAY better today, but still.
Fuck comcast. I cannot use their email service without their shitty internet service.
fuck off.

60GB peasant here
Bell is almost as bad. They're purposely hindering service to U.S. customers so they can call everyone up on the 14th of May and say "Have you been having trouble with your DSL lately? Well, we're changing the terms of your contract and adding a cap. But, if you act now and dish out a few hundred extra dollars, we'll give you our Uverse service which has no cap and better speeds!"
We're getting calls from them on a weekly basis. They're purposely throttling DSL service and acting like people who use lots of bandwidth are at fault, only to offer their uverse "solution". It's the equivalent of your car manufacturer sneaking into your garage during the middle of the night and damaging your engine, only to show up at your door the next day and offer to sell you a pricier model that's free of engine problems.
Still beats the 80GB cap Bell puts on their Fibe25 plan.
Comcast is OK, although sometimes I find myself tethering my rooted epic 4g on sprint more, trying to see how "unlimited" it really is (sometimes 4g is even faster than comcast)

Which beats my 65 gb datacap.
Canadian ISPs for the win.

I used to have a 15gb cap.
Per month.
It was hell.
uncapped masterrace
100 mb/s for 35$ over here with no cap at all
100 mbit/s for 35$ over here with no cap at all
Where the fuck do you live?
What the hell are the ISP's in US thinking? In Sweden you can get uncapped 100/10 Mbps for half that price (anywhere, unless you live in the middle of the forest).
[editline]
In some areas you can even get 200 Mbps uncapped (from my ISP)
Can't beat australian net, I've got 50gb 1.5mb speed (which is like 30 kb/s, shitty telstra) for $60 aud a month.
BEST I CAN GET.

Slovakia
Comcast gets no competition in LA because of all the unlimited bandwidth services that utterly crush it. Thank god.
