I disagree with bandwidth-limited home internet altogether, but you'd think if they're going to give you ludicrous speed they would let you have unlimited bandwidth to go with it.

Err, bandwidth is the speed, read up.

Everything in this post is entirely incorrect.
Well he's right that you can set up a static IP in your local network.

70 bucks for 4mbps down?
Talk about a ripoff.
ADSL2, 24mbps down/1mbps up, 55€ a month.
I have a 475mb daily cap on my ISP, which charges $100 a month for 1 Mbit service. Living out in the boonies sucks, ISP's will milk you for EVERYTHING you have.

I am pretty stupid
I meant download limit, though.
Oh how I love comcast (torrent is legal)

I'm getting a third of my max download speed by the way
Seeds? This happens on everything I torrent by the way
Why are you using torrents as a method to measure your internet speed?

Do it.
For example:

I wasn't, I was trying to show how comcast throttles torrents. Or am I totally off on how throttling works?
Wait.. 250Gbit? That's only ~30Gbytes.
Anyway, I'm sorta fine with my Australian 500GB plan with 20Mb down. What I hate is the 512k upload. Takes me hours to upload a 400mb clip on Tubes.

Your sorta off on how torrenting works. The reason your not getting a good speed is not Comcast, but actually the lack of seeders, and probably more leechers, unless I'm reading the torrent wrong.

no they mean bytes
Meh I'd rather stick with my 55mbit connection with UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH. Fuck you Comcast.
I've got verizon fios with no problems at all. No cap, nice speed.
I have one of the few unlimited plans left in Canada, from Primus. I get it bundled with kickass home phone though, 18 calling features and unlimited calls across North America, but for internet I pay for 7mbps, I only get 4.5 (they say it's because the phone lines in my area are 70 years old) and I have unlimited download. I pay ~$75/month for it.
Unfortunately in Canada, you either have fast internet, or you have unlimited download. Rogers offers cable up to 50mbps, but it has a 175GB cap for $100/month. Bell has Fibre up to 25mbps, with an 80GB cap for $55/month. The fastest Unlimited I can find that'll service my area is Teksavvy Cable, they offer 15mbps and unlimited download for $54/month. With Teksavvy, though, you have to buy the modem and pay out the ass for installation, something Bell and Rogers offer for free (Rogers actually factors in perpetual modem rental to their costs, you never own your cable modem with them).
if this was revealed in australia, people would be celebrating
damn our internet sucks
I already know of this cap since I used 980+GB one month, almost got my thing shut off for it.
I have a 200GiB cap shared between me and my younger bro.
Not once gone over even 75% of that. Rarely go over half.
i use comcast and fuckloads of bandwidth per month and have never been cut off.
maybe we don't have a data cap though, i dunno
How do you get to fap with a cap limit?
How do you get to fap with a cap limit?
Store it on a 1GiB flash drive.
Store it on a 1GiB flash drive.
Wait I'm confused. Limits don't apply to streaming videos, like Youtube?
